  1. This is just pure speculation, but I got a good feeling about this and it goes with the underlying theme of corruption of honor. I would not be surprised if one of the Heralds betrayed the cause.
  2. I would totally go for cultivation...in all seriousness I would go for Navani ideally if she was closer to my age but I would alsi go for Jasnah (Women who deal with knowledge or books drive wild).
  3. Other than the Mistborn and Warbreaker ones; -Parshmen being potential voidbringers -Taln appearing at Kholinar -Worldhoppers in TWoK -Emperors soul when you find out that she made his soul better (more of a "Mother of God" moment) -When Joel didn't become a rithmatist -Sadeas pulling out
  4. I was just thinking about the two surges associated with each radiant order and by extension the respective spren. I remember brandon saying something about some spren being of both Honor and Cultivation. What if one surge came from honor and the other from cultivation or both from either Honor or Cultivation depending on the composition of the spren in regards to being either of honor, cultivation or both.
  5. WOB: Kaladin is immune to the thrill, but may have felt it in the past. Looks like in some ways everyone was right.
  6. I think your right. Isn't it implied that the most important words a man can say, are The Immortal Words.
  7. Sound is a wave so it might have something to do with the symmetry mentioned in other threads, maybe it is a device that can generate a standing wave of shardic power in order to create or bind.
  8. This vision is clearly is Selatales, specifically in the purelake and there are armed soldiers which means that this vision was during a desolation because Alethela only armed other nations during desolations in the heraldic epochs. Also Yelig Nar an unmade was there at some point touching some spren so it's safe to assume the unmade only pop up in desolations. Furthermore I am going to suggest that the red glowing radiant is a dustbringer, I am on my phone so no direct quotes, ruby in the ars arcanum is associated with spark as well as the soulcastng property being fire and Kalak remarked that rocks were smoldering and the dustbringers had done their work well. Edit: Changed to reflect Yelig Nar's absence, thanks Peter
  9. I think there is a very simple answer to Ralkalest, forging changes the past of an object what if Ralkalest just doesn't change.
  10. I am surprised no one has mentioned alcohol or bacon, but the true greatest invention was the ability to think.
  11. Much of what your saying stands to reason but I don't agree that Odium influenced Vorinism, "Did our enemies realise that the harder they fought, the stronger we resisted?...But ignore the steel long enough, and it will eventually rust away". On the back of the hardcover. I think Odium just left for 4500 years and let men fight amongst themselves. Also I really like you theory that the Ghostbloods are a rogue splinter of old Vorinism.
  12. That was rude of me, thank you Skaa for picking up my slack.
  13. Going postal and making money were my favourites. I read this book recently called Bloodsong by Anthony Ryan it was really good epic fantasy a bit traditional but very well written, from what have read in this thread you guys might enjoy it.
  14. Welcome You should check out some of the Words of Radiance readings for more information on the Parshendi, specifically the Eshonai reading (Parshendi POV).
  15. Interesting theory, I don't think Adolin's mother was a prostitute because he got his shardblade and plate from his mother's side of the family. Unless prostitutes are shardbearers, I believe his mother was a lighteyes. That being said it is possible that they have different mother but there is very little said about Dalinar's wife/ lovers so we don't have a lot to go on, I like your theory but I don't think it is correct.
  16. I think there is a quote about larger spren like wind spren could stick things together, imitate voices and do mischief. All fabrials operate through trapped spren and majority of fabrials affect the physical world. The corrupted spren/odiumspren turns into a thunderclast. Edit:spelling
  17. I pose this question in shinovar I assume there is wind, life, fire and pain yet we see no spren, any theories on that?
  18. I wrote this when I was under the assumption that dawnshards could have been the heralds blades, and I am glad that I approached it obliquely or I would have made a bigger fool of myself for I didn't know there was WoB on honourblades. Rereading parts of the book I began to suspect that dawnshards are older than the heralds. All the things in the book that can be associated with dawn are the dawnchant, dawnsingers and dawncities are all by implication associated with the inception of Roshar. My theory is that the dawnshard precede the cycle of desolations and have the power to limit our actively oppose the power of odium.
  19. We don't capitalise human but we do capitalise our names its makes perfect sense that honorspren is not capitalised.
  20. That is true but in fantasy such distinctions in the name can be all difference. Another point is that when Dalinar feels the thrill he is killing but when we are in Kaladins POV he rarely ever kills when he feels those emotions with the exception of killing to protect. I believe that intent plays some small role in Roshar...
  21. I feel compelled to point out that everyone who mentions the thrill wears shardplate.
  22. Shallan's soulcasting incident is suggestive of everything on Rohshar having a spren, but I would guess that most of the spren that are seen in the WoK are the cognitive responses in the physical realm to physical changes and soulcasting is changing the spren's perception in the cognitive realm to effect a physical change.
  23. When Kaladin has his vision the stormfather/massive face in the sky, says men no longer ride the storms. Your probably onto something because Kaladin rode the storm at least cognitively and the name Windrunner is suggestive.
  24. My opinion is that the first three books are his good old school fantasy, I also enjoyed the Talon of the Silver Hawk books. Those along with the first series are the only books of his I like. I haven't read the books he did with Janny Wurts but they are supposed to be his best. From what I heard from reviews and blogs I didn't bother picking up any of his other books. As my friend put it,"he is one of those authors you read when you first get into fantasy, but as you read more fantasy your realise how average(he used a different word) the majority of his work is."
  25. Did anyone else notice that the Ketek at the end of the book roughly corresponds with each part of The Way of Kings, part 1 is called Above Silence and so forth?
