Made it down today, got some books signed with a mate and my father. Brandon was amazing he has this energy and charisma about him in the q and a. Didn't ask any difficult questions because I wasn't sure what was currently was WoB. Met a guy who was a 17th sharder who taking down notes. Didn't catch his name but he was wearing a Superman shirt. A great experience meeting Brandon!

Odium's spren can inhabit Chasmfiends during the Everstorm
blackmagic3 replied to blackmagic3's topic in Stormlight Archive
Perhaps was not clear, I do not think Chasmfiends are inherently of Odium. I believe that Odium hijacks the pupation process much like he hijacks the parshmen and turns them into voidbringers. Also the strongest piece of evidence which I forgot to mention was the drawing of a voidbringer in TWOK which looked remarkably like a chasmfiend. While this might be a red herring, the drawing coupled with the purple blood and spren inhabiting the Chasmfiends presents a strong arguement. -
Much like the Parshmen, Chasmfiends pupate and generate a chrysalis to change forms during the highstorm. But during the Everstorm Odium's spren can inhabit them them and change them into voidbringers. During the prelude Kalak sees purple blood at the end of Aharietiam which confirms that something like a Chasmfiend was present in the desolations.

The whole incident where Taravangian's granddaughter/niece (can't remember) was trapped by a cave designed to observe whether Jasnah is a radiant. Any thoughts?
-
There is a poignant quote from TWOK by Nohadon saying that,"Not all spren are as discerning as Honor spren." Furthermore Jasnah says that honor spren are the ligheyes of the congitive realm on roshar. This all implies that Windrunners adhered to stricter standards and where given greater combat power as they epitomized ideals of the shard behind their power. I suspect that lightweavers and and windrunners where the two most powerful orders.

I hate to be a pessimist but I think that either both or one of his parents are dead. Just think about what losing children at a young age will do to a parent.

My reactions to the book can be divided into 3 categories: The UnderwhelmingTaln, I thought Talenel would have played a much larger role in the book but instead he was just a crazy dude in a room used for intrigue. Whatever happened to his Honorblade? Kaladin's self pity and hatred towards lighteyes, serves him right to become one. I thought Hoid epilogue was good but the on epilogue of The Way of KIngs was much more poignant. The HilariousThe whole pooping in Shardplate conversation just cracked me up I couldn't stop laughing. This passage from Hoid literally had me on the floor "A bunny rabbit and a chick went frolicking in the grass together on a sunny day.” "A chick . . . baby chicken?” Kaladin said. “And a what?”“Ah, forgot myself for a moment,” Wit said. “Sorry. Let me make it more appropriate for you. A piece of wet slime and a disgusting crab thing with seventeen legs slunk across the rocks together on an insufferably rainy day. Is that better?" Sebarial, sitting eat while his mistress reads a novel while being attacked by voidbringers and the Everstorm is approaching. Needless to say Selabrial is my favourite highprince at the moment. The AwesomeShardbearer Battle Royale Kaladin's arrival to the fight against Szeth Shardspear Nightblood Bridge 4 becoming Kaladin's squires, evidence "There came also sixteen of the order of Windrunners, and with them a considerable number of squires, and finding in that place the Skybreakers dividing the innocent from the guilty, there ensued a great debate." I am really looking forward to see more of Eshonai and Lift who I hope will meet up with Dalinar and crew. Nalan was Darkness I was wrong, but why was he killing surgbinders before the Desolation now that its come he is recruiting them with Nightblood.

Does anyone know how to get the hardcover in Sydney today?
blackmagic3 replied to blackmagic3's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thanks guys I think I will just wait for the Kindle edition on the 6th. I was so looking forward to it, I hate Australia right now for denying me words of radiance. -
I have been to number of bookstores and called a few more, would anyone be able to direct me to a bookstore that has the hardcover in stock in Sydney. They have been telling they only ordered the paperback and that is coming out on the 11th, I cannot wait that long. I have already pre ordered the kindle edition.

Jasnah says the betrayal was the radiants breaking their oaths. -
I was right the knights broke their oaths. (excerpt)

I fell in love with Shallan in this picture.

Jasnah states that men betrayed an oath to the spren. I was thinking that the oathpact was either already broken by the time of the Recreance or still in effect. This means that whatever the Radiants did in the Recreance caused them to betray their oaths to the spren. So the Recreance was the spren leaving men(Radiants) en-masse.

To me the Stormlight Archive embodies hope, which is one of the most powerful things a human can feel.

I took a look at your theory, its good but Lift said being like Darkness was like being dead and Wyndle calls him an abomination. These two points kind of fly in the face of your theory and because Lift says you can become like darkness you can't become a herald unless you pick up an honor blade. On another point did anyone catch the thing about Jezrien drooling?
-
I have always thought that some radiant spren where either all honor, or all cultivation or a mixture of both. In other words Syl could be entirely of honor but Wyndle could be entirely of cultivation. Edit:Spelling
-
Did anybody notice that darkness can infuse (a bit hypocritical of him). Notice Lift wanted to be like darkness but she said it was like being dead. And did I miss something, where is the evidence that nalan = darkness.
-
Is there word of Brandon that all Surgebinder infuse through inhalation? @Weiry You're right Shallan fits better. But I think healing as an attribute is different to a healing ability in regards to Edgedancing being the 4th order.
-
@Weiry Lift can touch Wyndle, and Syl can carry things.

In the ars arcanum each herald is associated body focus and by extension each order. Kaladins body focus was inhalation, therefore Lift's -through her metabolizing food into stormlight- body focus is blood?

I think she said, I will remember those who are forgotten. That sounded like an ideal to me.
