  1. Holy crap, you've got to check this out, it's a short story about the cosmere that Brandon read during Jordan Con: After you finish listening to or reading the short story, read your poem again, so good!
  2. No worries at all, this competition is a ton of fun...beats camping...kinda
  3. Awesome podcast, like usual. What if Vax is just a name for the vacuum of space?
  4. Hey Ashpren, thanks as always for running this, but the vote page says Mraize is ToasterRetribution.
  5. Rad, nice clutch roast @Edgedancer Jak! But I have one question, how is this a bad thing? If lift stayed in Azimir she'd probably have one too.
  6. Great roast @Inklingspren! I'm glad that you're not going to Shai away from the challenge @Edgedancer Jak, I think the stakes have been Mraized quite a bit, so you better be up for some heavy Lift-ing. Hope it not's too Odious finishing your roast on short notice. Can't wait to read your roast, glad you can get it in!
  7. Thanks! I like the whole poem, but I really like this part, it seems like it's the hinge upon which the whole poem swings. The opening stanza has a very bleak atmosphere, and this stanza takes that atmosphere and expands it to something beautiful yet still very much tinged with sadness. Is this in response to "The Traveler"?
  8. Well, it's well deserved. That's some great work. We still had a fun day trip to the ocean, so really it was still a fun day, but I did waste 3 hours getting everything ready for camping. I was annoying my wife by taking voice memo's of potential roast lines while we driving though...hmm, so maybe that's a minor vacation blow-up... Pretty awesome to go conventions with your husband, my wife might go...but they would have to be convenient. C'est la vie right.
  9. Yeah, I actually saw this one in the gallery. I saw all of the steps and my personal favorite was the line drawing stage. It's really nice and starkly beautiful. The watercolor looks nice too, but it seemed to me like it lost a little of the dimensionality it had in the ink stage when the color was applied. The color was really nice, nice split complimentary palette with the yellow playing off the purple and skin tones.
  10. This is a really cool drawing, but he looks like too nice of a guy to be Odium. I would buy a slice of apple pie from this guy, Odium it seems should look a little sketchier...A little shadier... Really nice drawing though, I love the line work in the hair.
  11. Rad. He's got to practice his minor character death face, it's an important part.
  12. Thanks! I really think yours was great, especially this part: Really my wife is kind of upset about how long I spent on my roast... We ended up not going camping because we didn't get out early enough to get a campsite (because I was working on this ). Secretly I was excited that camping didn't work out so that I could get more time to work on this, and I could use my computer to format it.
  13. @Sorana Awesome roast! Here's Mraize, comin' out swiggin' (spoilered for Oathbringer and Emperor's Soul spoilers)
  14. News flash: Stick around for the Stick vs. Jak round it's gonna be Epic! Really man, that's super awesome. Odds in vegas just shifted, it's now even odds.
  15. Doh! I thought it was from the Running Man, it's actually from Robocop, both of those are great movies. The reference is spoilered below.
  16. @Herowannabe this is my own personal opinion, your Stick rap was just a couple of iotas of awesomeness less than Archer's Allomancer Jak rap (the iotas really came from the Handerwym annotations, man that's super awesome attention to detail). And I also have to say that I went in thinking that I would be really annoyed by your stick wrap, the Church of the stick is not my thing. But you really, I think, exhausted all of the ick rhymes that have ever been with your opening, it was so good. I am really looking forward to Jak vs. Stick now.
  17. I meant that after there's a victor for the the entire second round, after the final 1 on 1 roast is over.
  18. DOH!!! I planned to face off against Axies, Arclo, and Taln. I thought for sure I'd get at least one of those as an opponent! Here's one of the choicer lines for Axies (spoilered below if you don't want to read it, and don't worry it's a Mraize specific line so it doesn't take away from any of the plethora of insults still available): I am setting out on a 2 day camping trip today in about 2 hrs, that's why I did all of the prep work. The best laid plans Mraize and men I guess... Hopefully inspiration hits me hard right now, or my campsite has a cellular signal... I might post the full "hypothetical roast" after this Round of competition is over, there were some hard blows for sure.
  19. I don't know, I think Sureblood has nicer hair! And look at those lashes. I can totally see music spren swirling around him. I really like the pen and ink stage of your work, the lines are super clean and they look great.
  20. You are being way too hard on yourself, these lines are CLASSIC! Youch.
  21. This looks awesome, but who's dreamier? Renarin? Adolin? or Sureblood??
  22. He would be an amazing Hoid! Give him a white wig and I'd buy that for a dollar! (obscure reference to 80's Arnold Scwarzenegger movie, can you guess which one?) If you're going to go the Doctor Who route, than someone who approximates Tom Baker's Dr. Who would be amazing. Hmm, Brandon is awesome, but I think he would be better used as a worldhopper, kind of like Stan Lee's cameos in the MCU, but more distinctive, maybe even Felt? I don't know how Brandon would look with a drooping mustache, but that could be rad.
  23. @FelCandy, Those Are Really Nice sketches. I'm an artist too and it's fun to see the stages from pencil sketch, to inked, to finished watercwatercolor ed sketch. Your Parshendi sketches are pretty much exactly how I visualized them, they look really good. I especially like the carapace details on the parshendi's spine in the profile view. Also, how you drew Gaza is perfect too. Really nice work, excited to see more of your sketches!
  24. My hope with Hoid is that for film and tv productions of Cosmere stories is that they always have the same actor play Hoid. That would be just plain awesome.
