  1. Noelenol'Elin, the herald of lacking self-confidence, camp sewage diggers (sometimes changed to shardbearing highprinces), and lying to your grandmother about your girlfriend so that she won't start interrogating her. My grandmother And some of my own: the 11th knight radiant order inventions cut off by the lord ruler
  2. Night and Luminous are liquids, but I don't think they exist after the events of AotN. Abmerite contacting Verdant result in both becoming dust, I think. I tend to think the aether on Mraize's pants wasn't one from AotN, but it's basically a guess.
  3. I hesitate to guess without consulting my team, especially since I kind of appeared out of nowhere. So I’ll write my thoughts down, and if the other members won’t reply soon-ish, I’ll make my guesses. So: Arts – what first comes to mind is Moon Scepter, but I think Feruchemy and Hemalurgy are good guesses too, since they are both ‘Metallic Arts’ and both belong to the same ‘area’. However, what makes me hesitate is the fact that since they are from the same ‘area’, a more specific clue could have been given, like ‘magics’ or ‘metals’, but I may be overthinking it. So my candidates in the meantime are Feruchemy and Hemalurgy. (Sorry for blabbering, it’s a family tradition when playing codenames)
  4. Hi, sorry to interrupt, I'd like to join the next game when it rolls around. I'm familiar with both codenames (physical version) and the cosmere. How do i sign up?
  5. That's embarrassing. About a month ago (probably), I read somewhere (don't remember where, but I think it was brandon sanderson's newsletter) the prologue of Way of Kings Prime. The one with Taln in a hospital and everyone think he's a madman. And now I want to read it again, and can't find it anywhere. I've searched sanderson's site, this forum, my emails, and google in general. I've resubscribed to the newsletter and it wasn't it, it was the one with the cat. I don't know where else to search. Can anyone help?
  6. Really? What tipped you off on this one? Was it the deadly forest in which one must never travel at night? Or was it the hungry ghosts roaming around? No, I know! It was the existence of a murderous girl, trying to take her revenge on the man who killed her family! It's that, right? (just kidding, they are very similar)
  7. CotN is not a Cosmere story, there's no investiture in it, and its magic system is very not-cosmere. I mean, spells? Planes? Frankly, I don't think the magic system in CotN can, or should, be discussed in Cosmere terms.

    Doomslug

I don't think it is, because (spoiler to the ending)
  9. On the start of chapter 48, second paragraph, last line: "I’d gotten a form letter from Ironsides." Isn't it meant to be 'formal'?
  10. I thought the cytonic hyperdrive needed a power source and a directing mind, so Doomslug for the 'engine' and a pilot for the direction. When Rig fixed the ship he mentioned that the cytonic box was empty except for a screen on one side, or something like that. I thought Doomslug entered there (she can teleport inside, probably).
  11. So I thought about how much Steris loves Steelpushing, and then I remembered those medallions which give feruchemic abilities, and theoretically also can give allomantic abilities. So, Is there any reason Wax wouldn't be able to reverse-engineer them a bit, and use them to give Steris Allomantic Steel and Feruchemical Iron, like he has? This seems awesome. Also, Wax can ask Ranette to give him Allomantic Iron though a medallion, and it would we really awesome.
  12. When a crate falls on your leg at your part-time job and you go "Nights!" Or "Storms!", whichever you do. Sometimes I invent my own cosmere swearing.
  13. Water is solid in SH. Is I remember correctly, the ground is mist and the river is obsidian. Kelsier walks on the river to meet Khriss and Nazh, and Preservation talks about "where the ground becomes solid," meaning the ocean. And for my question: If someone from Roshar would worldhop to another world, for example Scadrial, would the cognitive realm look to them as beads, or as mists? If the latter is true, would they be able to soulcast? (While in the physical realm on Scadrial, of course)
  14. Congratulations! You win a cookie! Just head over to that room full of deadly neurotoxin, we are throwing a party for you there.
  15. (Kaladin comes to beat Amram) Amram: "Well, you found me. Was it worth it? Because despite your violent behavior, the only thing you managed to break was my heart." Whoever recognizes the quote wins a cookie.
  16. For a Shard-glaive, the weight is not a problem, shard weapons are light.
  17. So, I recently encountered this video, which asks what weapons will flying humanoid creatures (specifically, angels) would use. So I thought, what weapons would windrunners use, or flying fused, for that matter. They would probably use different weapons to fight flying enemies vs grounded enemies, but I'd like to consider both options. Here's my thoughts: (most of it is summarized from the video, with my additions for Roshar) Spears/Pikes (Kaladin's favorite weapon): Firstly, against grounded enemies the worst thing you could do is give up your height advantage and get close to them. But against flying enemies the reach may help. I don't think it would be much different from ground combat, except it is easier to gain momentum so it might improve stabbing damage. Kaladin uses this weapon mainly because he is trained with it, because it's useful for foot soldiers. Bows (Obvious ranged weapon): This may seem like the first choice for a ranged weapon, but with longbows you actually shoot from the side of your body, to get a bigger draw. It may not be so comfortable while flying, but I'm not sure how it will work with lashing. Alternatively, you may use a short bow which is harder to draw, to get the same power with a smaller draw and be able to shoot from the front. Crossbows: Do they even have crossbows on Roshar? This may work, but they have a long reload time. They can use fabriels to shorten it, though! Throwing Knives: Against grounded enemies, and especially a unit of spearmen or similar closed-together troops, those can work wonders. Simply hover above your enemies, out of bow range, and drop the knives on their heads (or lash them down). The gravity will give them enough power to crush a man's skull (or a woman's, we're not sexist). However, this method is inaccurate for single or far-apart enemies. Shoeblades/Shoespikes: seems like a perfect melee-ranged weapon for fly vs grounded, when you need to pick a solitary target. Sweep down like an eagle on it's prey, stab or slash them, fold your legs to release your spikes from the anchor you just created for yourself on the ground, and fly back up. Not very useful against flying enemies, though. So what do you think? Have more ideas, or do I deserve some rotten tomatoes? (I feel like the latter is more likely).
  18. I think he meant the uncertainty principle, which states you can't determine the position of a particle and it's momentum at a given time, only one of them.
  19. Vasher survives on stormlight, so it's possible to turn other types of investiture into breaths. In another subject, when Szeth hears the people he killed, is it a mental illness of something supernatural? Does everything supernatural in the cosmere involves investiture?
  20. Like Sanderson said, changing your connection is difficult, so it's probably not just storing connection. More like iterating between storing specific types of connection and tapping other types, with minor changes between iterations, so that after a thousand times your connection is 20 years younger. It's complicated and requires a lot of skill, and if you mess up you forget the last 20 years of your life in addition to reverting your body. That is how I understand it.
