Sailors shouted from the greatshell’s boasting amphitheater. “I ain’t never been implicated in a murder, thanks to me understanding of maritime judicial jurisdictions,” called Kol. “I’ve seen worlds you couldn’t dream of,” added Evinir Cragborn. “And I’m inexplicably hard to kill!” At the base of Relu-na’s neck, three sailors hung back. Before you could say, ‘wait, I thought Evinir Cragborn canonically died?’, all three sailors were killed. This round is over. Stand by for Cycle Five.

We're over halfway through the cycle! Still plenty of time to submit actions, vote, and RP boasts to protect the island. (I'm writing this so Hoid doesn't have to triple post again.)

Highprince Torol Sadeas accepts your challenge, Lord Ladrian! Ten heartbeats are enough, I have the wit of a king, Nine houses talking tough, But who’s pulling their strings? Ate and drank to their health, I was everyone’s friend. Seven princes served myself, So I tried a Kholin cleanse. Six feet under I could put you, I’m no stranger to war. Five years on the plains crew, And a decade before. Fortune favors the bold? I’m Highprince of Sedition! Three words on you: old, rash, and lacking ambition. To best you I’ll succeed With my tactical logic. One blade’s all I need, Not reliant on magic. Zero in on my face, ‘Cause I’m ready to duel. Heroes leave in disgrace, For I’m proficiently cruel. What do you mean you didn’t bring a sword? I assumed a House Lord could at least borrow a blade. No matter, we will continue with words alone! I run a policing staff, Our laws are followed entirely. I’m here on Lessie’s behalf, To launch a formal inquiry. Lord Ladrian, called ‘Waxy’, Like the skin of a corpse. My spies told me facts, see, To bring the dead some recourse. Bloody Tan the mortician, Shared, “great shows are unrepeatable”. Buddy’s plan met fruition, Snared the cop thought unbeatable. An old chap in your head, When you let in a Shard. The old chapel turned red, From bullets you discharged. Your love died that day, I would pity her. Were she here she’d say, Eye wounds really hurt! “Someone moves us”, Tan said, As in your arms she expired. You then moved west, and fled, Holstered arms and retired? From the city wanted liberation, But in the Roughs wore Sunday best. Was Mister Suit your inspiration? Your uncle’s boy, even in dress. The way you’re fighting all is tricks, Know when you’re beaten, coward. I’ve yet to learn your politics, But I’ll have your seat in hours. Cordially yours, Future Elendel Senator, Highprince Torol Sadeas- 2830 replies

Mint is correct that if information is provided in this game, it's explicitly mentioned in the rules. Regardless of effectiveness, without Expertise, using Backbreaker Poison on someone informs them they've been targeted with poison. Someone who didn't take an Action would still be informed. Good catch. Coder was a Ghostblood Officer. And to answer a popular question right now, the rules state that only successful attacks are listed in the writeup. All deaths are similtaneous.

Archer started following MR77: Cycle Three: Weike Up Dead Man and MR77: Cycle Four: Why Exe?
-
MR77 Cycle Four: Why Exe? Y and X tussled on the ground. “I thought you were my follower,” X grunted. Their shirt ripped open, revealing a Ghostblood tattoo over their heart. “That's how I knew it was you.” Y slipped his attempted headlock. “Diamond told me you'd be trouble. I told 'im you didn't have the spheres to interfere.” “You gave me the chance to face the truth.” Y hesitated, then plunged his dagger through X’s chest. “I had to take a stab at it.” A shardblade, brought by Wei, given to Qian, and taken by X mere hours ago, appeared beside X's corpse. “Defilers!” Talik bellowed. “Thrill junkies! Deathmongers and chulldung. Get out of my sanctuary!” The king grabbed his arm. Talik spun. “What? Oh storms.” A narrow boat approached Relu-na, rowed by men with white spirals painted on their chests. Talik’s subsequent cursing spanned four languages. “Maybe they're not headed this way.” The solemn king shook his head. He spoke for the first time. “My dear, they veer. I fear they'll steer to here, our pier, to sear our rears. They'll leer so near. We'll hear their cheers.” “I count about twenty.“ Captain Pladel lowered her spyglass. “I don't see any weapons on board. What're they here for?” “Our coast will host their boats. Their dour quotes will roast us toast, to ghosts.” The king sighed. “Let's boast.” Pladel vaguely recalled that boasts were how the inhabitants of the greatshells fought each other. “Can't you just ignore them?” Talik started pacing. “To ignore the challenge would bring dishonour to Relu-na. We're already weak in number. To lose the challenge would crush this island's resolve.” “You've paid to wade here. Stayed to trade. Best laid plans fade when made face raids. Please aid.” “This isn't your fight,” said Talik with reluctance. “But we would appreciate your assistance.” On the beach below, the visitors gathered around a glowing fabrial. A young boy, maybe six, spoke through it. His voice amplified to ten times the intensity. “I was afraid or the dark. But I made the dark my friend.” A teenager took the fabrial as their companions stomped their feet. “I met a rooster at sea and led it to land. It gave me its finest feather!” As more challengers spoke, Talik ushered the sailors to a section of Relu-na’s crest that had the impacted shape of an amphitheater. Sound projected especially well from its center. “Please. Hold them off while I gather our defenses.” “I chased the fog and caught it." “My buttercrem icing felled a man with its flavour. Many know the recipe, but few can execute it." “I braved the maw of a greatshell to remove a lodged stone. I seized it, flossed Ula-til's molars, and slid to safety down its tongue." The stomping on the beach stopped as the challengers looked up, awaiting a response to their opening volley. Plot hook: Defend Relu-na with your bravest boasts! Why exe? Because sometimes you get a baddie. Coder was a Ghostblood Officer! The First Rebuke was issued. The Ghostbloods have been told the identity and inventory of a random Merchant. Enmity is now 2. MR77 Cycle Three: Weike Up Dead Man Sailors picked their way through ferns and vines. Thunder boomed, and an instant deluge fell on the jungle below. Ignoring the sky's warnings, the sailors pressed on toward the head of the greatshell. In the midst of the downpour, Wei staggered through the undergrowth alone. When her foot slipped, she stumbled into a demon. "Stop following me, voidbringer," she slurred. The blue-skinned man gently guided her to the ground. His eyes were unnaturally large. "Coincidence, sailor. I'm after that fine specimen you've attracted." Axies the Collector stared over Wei's head. "Yes, it's the largest stupidityspren I've seen in years!" Wei scoffed. That was a common schoolyard prank. "Sore throat? And no need for a banker to check your balance." He held up four fingers. "How many minutes do you have left?" As Wei fell into a coughing fit, Axies revised his estimate down to three. "At least you'll die in beautiful company." He tilted Wei's head to look downward. "See that? It's like a delicate rockbud." A yellow flower had emerged from the ground in full bloom. "They wait until the chaos of the storm to extend themselves. Remind you of anyone?" "I know... I know who poisoned me," Wei realized. "At lunch..." "You haven't eaten since lunch? No wonder you're sickly." Axies deftly picked the flower and shoved it in Wei's mouth. It squirted a soothing nectar down her throat. "I can't feel my legs!" "You won't want to in a minute. Your body's about to die, but you can ignore that temporarily." Wei began crawling back the way she'd came. "I have to warn them." Axies lifted a branch, revealing a short trail to an open clearing. "Could you be more dramatic about it? You might call a martyrspren." As Wei crawled slowly, her stupidityspren had the decency to disappear. The jungle ended at the base of Relu-na's neck. The first sailors to arrive had taken cover in the treeline. In the distance, two figures sat atop the greatshell's head, unbothered by the downpour. Pladel chewed some bark aggressively. "They're testing our commitment." "Climbing would be dangerous." Zeek's waterlogged eyebrows fell over his face like bangs. "Waiting out the storm would be sensible." Pladel turned to her crew. "Listen up! That one's Talik, and that one's the king. Yes, he's a woman, get over yourselves. They want to be impressed. A double share to anyone who pulls that off." Reluctantly, Zeek shared a similar message to his crew, with more urging to be cautious. A few eager sailors set off to try the ascent. "Pladel!" Wei emerged from the brush, limbs shaking uncontrollably. Kol the quartermaster dragged her to her feet. "Show some respect, sailor!" "I've been-" "Shove off with your excuses." "It's fine, Kol," Pladel said. "I'm poisoned." "It's not fine, Captain. Without a first-mate, this crew has lost their discipline." "I told you not to speak of him." "Apologies, Captain, but someone's got to say the truth. Ever since you killed-" "Enough!" Pladel slapped him. He dropped Wei, whose body fell hard. They looked at Wei. A shardblade shimmered into view beside her corpse. “Nobody touch that!” Pladel quickly snatched the sword and handed it to the sailor she trusted most, Qian. The treehouse in the jungle held a new secret today. The secret of a murder weighed on two girls’ minds. They'd watched Qian walk the trail that led back to the ships. They'd seen other sailors follow, asking to see the shardblade. Cass had looked away as the men started shouting. Polly looked away when the shardblade was swung. But both had looked back, in time to see a killing blow. The shardblade was taken, and the girls knew by whom. Plot hooks: Parlay with the king, or investigate these murders! @Illwei was NKed! They were a Merchant Crew. @Qianweilian was killed by the sailors (based on RNG)! They were a Merchant Officer. There was no Rebuke. Enmity is now 3. Player-player PMs are permanently closed. This round is closed. The twins had discovered the last of the tree house's secrets years ago. There was a nail in a floorboard that glowed after storms. A hollow chair leg held a spanreed, missing its gemstone. Nestled in the roof was a box for an orange-red carapace mask. In the box's hidden compartment were some thin-tipped darts that their parents had confiscated. From their perch in the treetop, Polly and Cass watched the sailors enter the jungle below. A minute later, they saw the voidbringer stalking behind the group. Polly thought it was cute, for a demon.
