The absurd confidence of declaring Honor an elim felt like you made up a list of people - perhaps those you actually thought were villagers and were hoping to reverse psychology the NK onto a real suspect of yours. I misread it. Re: Elim strats: I usually start the game with a discussion prompt to get reactions. My plan was the one I had pre-written, to be posted D2. Didn't realize it wasn't a very original idea. Wonko's post made me move up the timeline. Further discussion was mostly to try for a freeze reaction. What I didn't want was an elim team that confidently knew what they wanted to do, in hopes they'd default to a standard NK. (Skipping the NK isn't a freeze btw, it's a planful decision.) You and Mistfallen can have village reads because e!you would know better than to mess with village confirmed!me. The nice thing about the skipped NK is we can actually apply pressure with our votes. If we win the cycle and there's a suspect pool of 2 or 3, that's bad news for them. I agree the NK skip indicates they plan to win the Loop. Probably the best strategy, which I was hoping to dissuade them from by threatening to develop a secret dead doc code etc. My hope was the elims freeze and default to a standard SE type kill and waited until later in the cycle to see if they wanted to NK one of their own. I was going to soft clear whoever was NKed. I’ve been tracking rupee accumulation. Aman changed the rules for C1 to allow excessive posts from one bucket to fill empty slots in the other bucket, so 7 RP + 3 Analysis = 10 rupees, instead of 8. I don’t think anyone knew that until now, so people likely tried to get 5+5. I expect the elims were gunning for maximum rupee acquisition, especially if they planned on skipping NKs. THat allows the elims to hide better, as the top earners aren’t being sniped every night. It’d be weird if the elims allowed a villager to reach a high level of rupees, so we’d suspect them. No NK also limits how many villagers get the 20 rupee starting amount C2 from being dead. While aiming to get rich is NAI, my theorized elim profile is: --Posts well beyond their usual profile. Villagers don’t tend to care as much, so elims are more likely to extend beyond their usual posting profile because the advantage matters more to them. –Posts near the end of N1 to squeeze in some more earnings, rather than accruing more organically. (Doc, Divergent, and Coder can have some mild sus for their end of N1, but I’m not pursuing this too hard.) –More inclined to RP than analyze because it can’t be read into. These numbers are wrong (due to the rule change and me doing it very quickly). The gist is: Mistfallen: A5, 5RP Wahr: A5, 5RP — Elim read. Outside of their output profile. I feel like they’re quieter usually. Coco: A5, 4RP Burnt: A4, 5RP — Elim read. More RP than analysis. Divergent: A5, 4RP Coder: A4, 5RP — Elim read. Coder has called out their intentions 4+ times, which feels excessive. First time felt villagery, now it’s weird to keep saying they’re going for max funds. Doc: A3, 5RP — Elim read. More RP than analysis. Wonko: A5, 2RP Hael: A3, 3RP TUO: A4, 2RP Araris: A4, 2RP — Village read. They clearly planned to RP more but fell into analysis instead. I read a post of yours and immediately thought it was village, then had flashbacks to last game and backtracked on it. CTRL+SHIFT+V also works on Windows for plain text pasting. I'm not sure why you read suggesting we put in for two blue masks as strangling information. It doesn't really matter who controls the masks, so long as they're village. Playing the odds increases the likelihood they end up with a villager, even if it's not the villager who volunteered first. I can speak to the elim strategy stuff tomorrow.

But if they commit to it tonight then we exe an elim and they have to start NKing again to inflate the pool, that'll be pretty obvious. Part of my reason for wanting to join the dead pool L1 is then I only have 4 suspects, and we can spend the loop solving each other. I'm slightly concerned about shooting in a pool of 1 rather than a pool with 3 though, since we need two elim deaths. Elims can shoot multiple of themselves and probably should this round, since they have the least money to lose. NK yourselves, cowards. Araris, I don't think we're really in control of this round. Us winning L1 is a worse outcome for the elims, so they're under no pressure.

Ugh Wonko, I was having this for after the first NK. I was hoping the elims would NK a villager before they thought to hard about needing to WGG. Putting it out now: I volunteer to be voted off D2. Five people die in Loop 1. If they’re all village (revealed by whether we win or lose the Loop): –We create a five-person trust circle of confirmed villagers. –We can design a code to use in-thread going forward, granting a communications advantage. –Five villagers start the round with 20 rupees, enough to buy the red masks that allow us to mechanically solve based on the NK. (If the elims target the confirmed villagers, they risk dying to Blast Mask. If they target elsewhere, they narrow our suspect pool that Loop.) Downsides: –No room for error going forward. (By then, we should hopefully have some reads to work from, plus mechanical information). –Surviving players from Loop 1 may have enough rupees to buy violet masks that counter the effectiveness of the red masks. (In an ideal world, the village survivors would maximize their earnings and would submit two bids for every elim bid on a grey mask, blocking most of their purchases.) The elim counter-play would likely be to do a Wounded Gazelle Gambit and NK one of their own. This gives us the Loop 1 win, which is fair compensation. Loop 2+ data is harder to read since killing one elim looks the same as killing two, but we’d have more room for error. FYI If we win Loop 2 or 3, we can vote off the same three people in every subsequent round and automatically win the game, barring mask-based shenanigans.

oh you poor unfortunate soul 3 things to know if you're coming in blind: -Start with the chart Aman posted, that makes it easier to figure out. -I think the RP incentives might be a little weak, but the game part of the game leans heavily into RP, so I hope we can embrace that as a group -This is going to be an endurance game, so be prepared to pace yourself. Both because of the actual length and because we'll be information starved.

I just spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how square roots work, so I'm asking this pre-game so I'm not sussed for it. What exact number ratio is our boss mask wincon? Can we get a sanitized rules with the extended variation removed for clarity? Is there an NK?

...the best kind of win! Congrats, Jo and Doc. That was insane. Thanks for running this, IM, GMs! I enjoyed the writeups, and the doc was fun to hang out in. It's really hard to balance a game that's so precarious. Only caution I'll give is that the power role holders were pretty predictable (Discerning me/Jo and SK TUM), but hey, metagaming got me killed immediately, so I got my karma. I enjoyed my playstyle, and will probably try that again in a future game, regardless of alignment. Kudos to the folks who were on to me C1! (You don't count, TUM :P) Pleasure playing with all of you, especially the new folks - welcome!

Seconding what TJ said, elims tend to make an exhaustive list even when there isn't enough to say that warrants it. Cards on the table, I think there's Wahr+Doc team potential because they were weird in response to me suggesting a vote on them in our PM. Interesting your not going for vote manip here I don't want to say I told you so, but...
