Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"I'm not moving. Revir and Pending have the opportunity to dictate how this goes, and I think they've both declined to." Rem was a little sad about that- 421 replies

Rem let out a few choice curse words. He'd done this in the dream too, thinking the end of the Day was later than it was. "The Day is nearly over? Someone should have told me." Pending Sono- 421 replies

*smiles through the pain* Great! I think my approach is going to be to ask that when you vote, you also ping the person you're talking about so there's a permanent path to follow, even if their name changes mid-game. I'm also going to officially close signups now.

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"I too appreciate the vote tallies. Why'd you bring your role up, then? Onon mentioned you'd foreshadowed it as well. I don't remember that remark, but I do remember you being very reactive to this pressure." @Kasimir "Lurcher being the role that we have the most incentive to keep alive, I think, while also potentially producing a clear heroic result. If we let you live, you can block a murder and clear yourself. Or more likely, you've just bought yourself two kills while we waited to kill you. It also fits with the village-coded elements of the dream distro, so it's a reasonable claim to publicize if you're desperate." @TheRavenHasLanded "Are you willing to vote in defense of Pending if it comes to it?" Sono "What does the vertical axis represent? Since I have no knowledge of any events happening outside of our little world, I'm technically also curious about the horizontal axis, but that can be explained to me off-camera."- 421 replies

"I'd certainly look to vote off Sono first. I like the fire Onon responded with, which is a regression towards the habits I expect from villager them. I feel like those are hard to fake, so I probably wouldn't pursue the case without a Sono flip." "Who do you suspect now then?"- 421 replies

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"I feel like I know what you look like when you're committed to a suspicion, in public and in private, and I've seen neither in this case. My working assumption is you have something you could say, but are willing to sit on it and let it slide if the opportunity arises. "The established path to breaking Sono isn't to wait. It's too overload them until they give up." Rem checked their notes. "I had them down as not being paired with Revir, but that vote actually didn't stick. I suppose their teammate could be one of the villagers who hasn't arrived yet, but besides those options, I like Onon the most here. A Spiked Solo would need someone to be a steady presence."- 421 replies

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
In a quiet moment, Rem sat by themselves, practicing their magic tricks. “Is this you card?” they asked their pretend audience. “No? Are you sure? Compare it to what I showed you earlier. I’ll admit that’s difficult without being able to see it anymore. Let me refresh your memory.” He waved his hand over the card and it turned from black to red. “You had the red One of Rats, right? Your first impression of it is very similar to what you see now, identical in appearance actually. But let’s get to know it a little better.” He shuffled it into the deck and started dealing cards. “The red one comes up again and again. It’s really making an impression with its presence. Look, I’ve dealt it four times already. Probably shouldn’t show you this is a trick deck, but oh well.” “The Black one is less assertive. We haven’t known these cards for very long, I’ll admit, but based on the small sample size, I’d say this black one is quieter. Less confident. Actually thinking about things. Such a smart card, it is.” His metaphor was unravelling, so he laid the two cards side by side. “If I had to guess, I’d say your card has changed from the red one into the black one. We’ll see how well my prediction plays out in the real world.” Rem trotted back to the town square. “Sono has been less aggressive to interrogate people, this meeting. They have been preoccupied by vote counting without being willing to step into a fight over it. I'd expect them to throw hands more aggressively when their honor was questioned.” He checked his notes on them. “An additional pattern has emerged that I dislike, yeehaw. I voted Sono, Onon lightly questioned it. Onon then buried them with a third vote, which makes Sono’s vote counts look better for them, as no Spiked would fall under so much pressure without receiving help. Votes tend to move away from extremes. It also has the effect of setting up a ‘you suck!’ vote, which Onon would know I have previously village-read people for.” That situation had revolved around a new player, Rem remembered. They had different standards for competent ones, but Onon might have misunderstood his stance enough to suggest the gambit. “Then I hear that Onon wants Sono dead but they have failed to articulate a serious case against them, and are in fact just fishing for other people’s views, which gives them the opportunity to defend Sono while being able to bail and distance if needed. Win-win if they’re teammates.” They paused to catch their breath. “What I’m saying is I don’t trust those two.”- 421 replies

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"Why not ask them about their vote, then? I'm mostly confused why you think asking about the dreams would be useful." Rem had an uncanny desire to rent a horse. He felt it would be a better way to express his character. "Anyone wanna bet their horse that Solo is evil?" Truly Sirta's protégée. Perhaps the dreams had relevance after all. Rem pondered Dasenk's activity. He felt like the evil dream one of them would have been a more useful contributor at the moment, minus the bad faith. "Give me more of that guy!" People turned to look at Rem, confused. "I was doing an internal monologue, carry on your business. Yeehaw."- 421 replies

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After smoking something cheap, Rem had had a vision of Dasenk being evil. They'd acted differently that time, which definitely meant they were a villager this time around. "Or," they pondered. "Should I vote them to bring them outta the shadows." They flipped a coin. "Guess not. Hope they come around anyway." "What kinda question is this? I know dreams are fascinating, yeehaw, but I've no idea why you'd ask this instead of talking about more recent behaviour of theirs."- 421 replies

"I'll take any wager!" Rem pushed their way to the front of the crowd, bag of coins jingling in his hand. "What's the action?" "Yes, magic man. I love playing with Dice. Shame they're not around." "Not to worry, I brought me own." Rem produced a nine sided die from their pocket and gave it a roll. "Sololuminescense has my vote. Wouldn't mind never having to say their name again anyway."- 421 replies

Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"Ohhh noooo." Wendawa said very passionately. "I've made myself a prime candidate to be murdered tonight. That would be awful." They searched their brain, trying to remember how things had shaken down. "I'm struggling to find where Revir voted, can anyone help me locate that specifically?" -

Long Game 98: A Tale of Mists and Metals
Archer replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wendawa cleared his throat. The meat pie left one’s throat surprisingly dry. “There once was a man who was born in a tree. He grew up in the tree, full of bananas. All his life, he looked down on the people below. They didn’t speak sense, he belonged in the tree!” "Hi. Why are you accusing me so quickly? Violent and Violet are very different, just so you know. Has The Deepness gotten into your mind so quickly? Wendawa?" “You could trust the man in the tree. He spoke his truth because he grew up untouchable.” Wendawa trusted a self-righteous person. Those who knew the least were often the least subtle. Violet seemed like they didn’t have hidden knowledge. "I will still keep my vote on Wendawa, who's sudden dismissal of my case is not to be forgotten." Up until this point, Wendawa still liked what they were saying. It sounded like someone basing their suspicions on the fact that he was wrong. ‘No you’ language was either lazy play or pure self-righteousness, and in a newcomer to the town, Wendawa was inclined to believe it was the latter and move on to other suspects. Violet going on to individually rebuttal points showed a greater agenda than was expected, but it was part of a consistent tone, so Wendawa didn’t mind it. They seemed willing to throw bananas at everything and anything from atop their tree. The Soothsayer stopped to listen to another person speak. "However, the same cannot be said of Jorrick. I trusted that the old carpenter would do his part, and participate in this discussion. Instead, he has kept to his shop, and said very little. I expected better from him, and am sorely disappointed. I thought that I had no need to provoke him into action, but that was apparently foolish. I grow so frustrated with the fence sitters in the town. It is better to state your case and vote, than it is to sit idly by, and let your voice be swallowed by the crowd.” This came after Wendawa had called them out for not voting for Jorrick. Wendawa had privately thought that perhaps they did not want to vote for them because in other recent disputes, they had gone after Jorrick early. That was a sensible reason to break their pattern. But now they had returned to it, as if trying to mimic their previous actions without having the same intentionality behind them. “It would have been more consistent to just stick to voting Revir until they said something meaningful.” The vote did dampen his theory of Jorrick and Sirta being co-conspirators though, which was based on the idea that they had broken their pattern to avoid a vote on a fellow Spiked. -

Wendawa was having trouble telling Revir and Dasenk apart. You wouldn't think their names were very similar, but Wendawa had never learned to spell. "Revir picked me for a pocket picking!" Yet Wendawa trusted them. Surely a true thief would have felt the need to be completely silent, or to blend in with some accusations of their own. They were in the murky middle. Their eyes flashed white, struck by a sudden vision. They saw Sirta, in alternate realities, crusading through crowds, pointing a knife at the shadows. Always the shadows, pressuring them to come to the light. They'd done the same today, but they didn't back it up with a real threat. "Their heart's not in it. Otherwise they'd have threatened Jorrick." Wendawa blinked. "Two black birds throwing stones, soon baked in a pie! Buh bye!" -

"When I point at you, three fingers point back. Plus yours makes four, which is a lot of pressure to bare. Bear? Barely any thought, I like you, Violet." "You're allowed to be loud. I like you too. A Spiked would be quite quiter." "Some among us can fly, but clearly not me. All of us will die, perhaps starting with you? Looking so soon to see what's not there isn't searching for what is. What is this, Sirta?" -

You couldn’t trust your emotions in a crowd. They always lead people to extremes. “We’re all going to die!” Wendawa flapped his arms, trying to fly away from the suffocating crush of humanity. “Some as soon as tonight!” It was best not to let emotions dictate your decisions, then. He would make his vote rationally. Based on vibes. “Violence has descended upon us. Violence sounds like Violet, Violet likes sounds of violence.” -
There will be no secret rules. Everyone is on equal footing, unless you count being able to submit the NK. I endorse this, so long as this is the game you focus on. :D.

Quick Fix 69: Dark One: Too Light In a red-brown field of dust in the Blackened Lands of Mirandus kneels a solitary drull. Their fingers tenderly rake the soil as they whisper to the ground. “Heed my voice, little one. I haven’t much time. “The Narrative has always guided us. For most of my lifetime, I was smitten by its dominance. I cheered when the Dark One rose, and I gladly joined his forces! “I was part of a scouting party. As the main army fought on the Warfields of Karkun, we were sent to sneak into Sheildreach. When we reached the bank of the Quiet River, we lay down to rest. “I awoke underwater, held down by a gauntleted fist. Through the swarm of bubbles, I looked up. I locked eyes with the Destined One! And he was beautiful. “I tried to destroy him, but I was too weak. He tried to destroy me. But he was too weak. “He told me I reminded him of someone special. A pair of tears fell from his too-blue eyes. Then a rush of air refilled my lungs as his hand released me from the water. And something awoke within me. “The others lay strewn along the riverbank with smiles on their faces, yet I did not envy their deaths. I walked alone back to the Draeken Forge, stepping over an entire generation of corpses. As the Chapter concluded, I found this group of survivors to rebuild with. “Most covet the chance to fight the Forces of Light again. But a few of them seem persuadable. We can work together to chart a new path forward. “Grow swiftly, little one. A new world beckons.” * Welcome to QF69! This story takes place well before the events of the Dark One comic, in the quiet, liminal years between two chapters of the Narrative. You are drull, eagerly awaiting the next great war. Perhaps this time you will die a glorious death! But your small community has been beset by rumors that some of you don’t want to fight. You must root the scourge of pacifism from your group before it corrupts any more minds. Basics Each Day and Night are combined into one 24-hour-long Cycle. Every Cycle, there is an execution, which is decided by a vote. The minimum number of votes somebody can be exed by is 1. Tiebreaker rules will be announced in the Cycle One writeup. Every Cycle, one of the Enlightened Drull can submit an order to kill one player. If you don't post for two cycles in a row, you will be removed from the game and, if one is available, replaced by a pinch hitter. If none are available, you die. PMs are not open. Votes are submitted using RED TEXT. Please do not overuse red text or similar colors. Once a vote has been submitted, it can not be revoked for the rest of the cycle. EXCEPT, once per game, players may submit an order in their GM PM to either i) secretly remove their vote or ii) secretly double their vote. The vote tally will reflect the change, but the names will not. This can be done in addition to submitting a kill order. All actions occur simultaneously. Alignments Sensible Drull: You win when all the Enlightened Drull are eliminated. Enlightened Drull: You have a shared doc in which to conspire. Your win condition will be announced in the Cycle One writeup. It will involve outnumbering or reaching parity with the Sensible Drull. Bonus Activity: Word Sneak Over the centuries, a handful of travellers have moved between the realms. As you were stalking one once, you heard them say a funny-sounding phrase. As an inside joke, like to slip it into your conversations. Players will be assigned a short phrase at the start of the game. Any players who use their phrase three times in-thread (in either roleplay or out-of-character speech) before the end of the game, without it being guessed by other players, wins a (meaningless) prize! Players may guess other players' phrases in their GM PMs. Once they get one wrong, they may not guess again. Guesses may be slightly more than correct, but they can not contain omissions. The player who makes the most correct guesses wins an even greater (meaningless) prize! Clarifications Schedule The game begins on Monday, November 27 at 8pm EST (GMT-5). Participants Quick Links .
