Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Eluvianii replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Doesn't CS1 still have a few scenes like that? Is it worse in 3 and 4? -
No, but almost (last week). TPBM is part of the exclusive club of the Lightshapers.

Ooh that's even better then. If this works I want a Hundred Days War anime next. -

I wonder what kind of adaptation it will be. I remember Persona 4 the Animation being like "Ok, we know you played the game already, and the story has too many details to adapt faithfully, so have 26 episodes of fanservice instead", and it somehow worked. It was a complement to the game instead of a substitute. I've always thought that a Kiseki anime wouldn't work precisely because a big part of the story comes through wandering around talking to people and that just wouldn't be entertaining in a TV show. I'm not really worried about it, not expecting the perfect adaptation by any means, but I'm really curious. -

I just noticed that if you stay still and watch Rean's breathing animation, the part that moves the most is his hair. From the right angle seen from behind it looks like a thing opening and closing. -
I'm very curious myself. Like for example why tagging in quotes is known to not work, but it works anyway. TPBM has quoted and tagged a person in a single post, to their later embarrassment.

I'll probably look for a way to buy it when that happens. Also, I read that they'll add 5 minutes to the ending in the blu-ray release. That would be nice. I really liked the final scene as it is, but I wouldn't say no to even a few seconds of epilogue.

Finished Akudama Drive. It was really, really good, I didn't expect it to be half as good as it was, it's easily one of the best shows I've seen in a while. I do wish I can watch a version with uncensored battles at some point though. Those black bars covered half the screen sometimes.

Correct, I haven't read Mistborn. Era 2 that is. TPBM is excited for Era 3's setting.

I guess she can be from time to time? TPBM enjoys the ancient art of sleeping in.

Perfect. 15 is, difficult to read, I swear I was starting to feel physically sick as I went through it. And after that there's a last one that only unlocks if you finish every other one iirc, that one is sweet. -

Awesome. I feel the need to ask though, did you do all the doors? -

So Spriggans are Bracers but shady. It's honestly a nice way of changing the tone and giving some variety without banishing the possibility of chasing a cat around for a little girl in exchange for 50 mira. -

Sometimes I forget how this works. I finish a chapter. The game asks if I want to save. I'm like "Alright, but I won't finish this session until I get control again, it should be quick". Then about 30 minutes of cutscenes happened. -

Athelas is the strong version of Thelas. Thelas revives you with a little health and Athelas with full health. That is a fortunate choice for a favorite character. He's pretty active. -
There was this French cartoon we watched as kids called Les Contes de la Rue Broca. That thing was really good, it had some really weird charming fairytale-y stories and looking back to it, I'm kind of surprised I haven't come across some cult following. Regarding movies, I'm deeply in love with When Marnie Was There. When it comes to Ghibli movies Miyazaki takes all the cake, but the ones that weren't directed by him are just as good and this one is easily my favorite from the studio. And it's one of the few movies I never seem to become immune to. I still struggle not to cry a river each time I watch it. Also, everything by Makoto Shinkai before Your Name. That movie skyrocketed his popularity, but he made four movies before that and all of them really good. One of them even is still considered to be his magnus opus by many, but they're eclipsed by the new releases (which are awesome too, but all of his movies deserve some love). I don't know if I should mention Satoshi Kon here. He's certainly not as known but those who do know him regard him as a genius, so I don't know if I can call him underrated. Meh, I already mentioned him so. If anyone is curious I recommend Perfect Blue for psychological horror, Tokyo Godfathers for a hilarious and wholesome Christmas story, and Millennium Actress for the best movie ever made (imho). For video games I would recommend the Longest Journey trilogy to any fantasy fan. The world is amazing. Simple in concept but it gets so detailed with time, it's so easy to get immersed in it. The characters are great, particularly the third game puts a lot of weight on the protagonists' development. It has a lot of mystery. So much in fact that the entirety of the second game is a mystery itself, to the point it ends with the biggest cliffhanger in history (good thing a third game came out). It can be hard to get into because of all the changes in gameplay and general tone due to so many years passing between each release but I'd say the experience is worth it. To be honest I haven't finished the third game but I'm close and so far it's been an amazing experience. Also, this song.

I just found that I missed a hidden quest and I want to reset the entire game. -

Well, if Nisa keeps the same pace, it should come probably by fall next year. To my understanding it's a sort of bridge between the Erebonia and the Calvard arcs. Like it ties up some loose ends and gives a glimpse of the way the story will continue from now on. -

Well, to be honest, the few screenshots we have of Kuro look pretty darn amazing. We still have to see it in motion but it looks to me like a current generation game graphically. -

That was quick. Enjoy. The 3rd has a very different structure to the previous games, but it uses it to drop character development, some revelations, and lots of hints about the overarching plot that may or may not start to make sense over the course of the next few games. -
Not actively. I guess it'll happen when it happens. TPBM wants the title of God Beyond.
-
I'm afraid I don't own an author at the moment, but if I ever do I'll inform you in case it's him. TPBM is bored.
-
Not right now but it happens. TPBM loves peanuts.

Finally decided to listen to The Dolls of New Albion: A Steampunk Opera by Paul Shapera and I cannot believe I kept myself from this for so long. It's amazing, and beautiful, and so storming tragic, and extremely well told for being only an hour and a half. I could become addicted to this. And I just may, as it seems there are like another 15 albums by the same composer because you can't be too prolific. I'm really glad I found this, looks like I'll be busy for a while. In case anyone wants to take a listen. Also, I looked for the lyrics on Genius. It's good to have them at hand because some songs have descriptions and there is one where there's three people singing different lyrics simultaneously, so it really helps.
