Studio Ghibli Fanfolks!
Eluvianii replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Darn, now I kinda want to make a ranking too. I'm missing 9 movies from this list though (that's more than I thought). A marathon may be due. -
checks to confirm he's still alive Apparently so. TPBM has mastered the ancient art of realizing it's been 4 hours since you started making the presentation and have 3 slides.

Too late, I'm too curious now. I won't hold it to Ghibli standards though. Might be a bad idea if I want to actually enjoy it. -

Earwig can't be that bad, can it? Actually, I think I'll just find out. -
I like to fantasize about magic computers in Harry Potter until people come along saying that either the magic wouldn't work or the computer would break. What's the point? TPBM had a good breakfast.

If I ever say that, I might be banished from the country. TPBM needs to clean their room.

Marnie has to be among, like, my three favorite movies of all time. -
What are you playing right now?

In the middle, maybe latter half, of Super Metroid. Zero Mission and AM2R were amazing. I really liked the latter's atmosphere but what Super is doing well is making me get lost. The first two had a lot of really long horizontal corridors and really long vertical shafts. In Super on the other hand everything goes in turns and twists and the map doesn't mark the doors. It's also a lot more cryptic with secrets. This game is pure exploration. The controls are a thing I still struggle a lot with but it's not a dealbreaker. As a side note, since I started playing these games, my thumbs hurt. Edit: Finished Super Metroid. That was... holy crap, this story is turning out to be one storming interesting dilemma about "If it's dangerous can we justify killing it?". One hell of a topic to tackle without any dialogue and with now decades between games. And it's really good at it. Extremely excited for Fusion now. -
Oh crap, wrong Perpendicularity. WTWTTSW you need an escape route to the Cognitive?

Then everything is fine. They're good games one way or another. -

I mean, it's nice, but not particularly more exciting than the last 4 times it was remaked/re-released. -
Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Eluvianii replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Is it? I generally see people saying they hated the ending or that the cliffhanger sucks. Granted, by text is hard to know if they mean that or if it's a way of saying it's intense and left them itching for 4 but I usually get the former impression. Though either way it makes me excited. Sounds like this cliffhanger is bigger than the other 2 we've had. -

That's the most positive opinion I've read about the ending. -

You know, I remember you making years ago a little story connecting Brandon with Kondo. It seems more likely by the minute. -

I'm only on Chapter 3 of CS3 so there's probably more to discover but can we talk about Fie's family for a moment? -
What are you playing right now?
Eluvianii replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Well, I was actually planning to go for the fan remake, and eventually Samus Returns. The GB version is one I hesitate to play at the moment for the same reasons I chose Zero Mission over the NES one. Maybe in the future when I'm done with the newer ones but right now I suck enough as it is to get stuck indefinitely there. -

I'm kind of worried and excited for that. I'm guessing towns had low populations before because giving dialogue to everyone in a metropolis is a massive amount of extra work. So not being able to speak to everyone will feel weird but if this means the "There's too much people here" moments will now involve more than ten npcs in a really big area, I really want to see it. -

About to finish Metroid: Zero Mission (try and guess what prompted my sudden urge to play it). It's a lot of fun, and also the first 2d Metroidvania I'm going to finish. I've been trying to fully get into the genre for a while and I think this is my ticket. Gonna check out the rest of the series after this, Castlevania looks pretty good too, and I already bought Ender Lilies and Hollow Knight. I might get busy. -
Bad advice, each iteration only creates more curiosity.

I'm temporarily stuck here. CS3 Chapter 2. Edit: I want to hit something, really hard. I beat the battle, all the battles in fact. Thrice. This thing just keeps crashing during the cutscene dump. Just how far can the prompt to save be? It's not even like I can fast-forward through the thing to lower the chances. Each time the game changes areas has a chance of crashing, no matter how small the new area is. There's way too many of those here. -
Reminiscing about a first favorite soundtrack of mine, and probably one of the main reasons I like racing games.

As a small counterpoint or rather, a second option, sometimes I think you can get something from seeing the movie first. For one you won't be disappointed about any missing details, and when you eventually read the book, you'll be excited because you'll be finding out about said details. I can't speak as someone who's read the book and the movie either though. Hope somebody who meets the requirements sees the post.
