  1. Apparently it's a fairly common occurrence. Like the game triggering an instant blood moon after reaching a limit in something. I don't really understand how it works, it's never happened to me.
  2. But the flying snakes are the cool type. Hmmm a spider maybe? Spiders are cool. What job would you like to get in a fantasy world?
  3. The boldest I've gotten was blatantly putting WoR on my desk, reading when I could. Not the only book I've pulled out in class but one of the few physical ones and certainly the biggest. Not one teacher seemed to mind. TPBM has played a video game in class.
  4. Been watching a horror movie a week for the last four weeks because of obvious reasons and 3 and a half of them I hadn't seen. The Babadook. This is the half in 3 and a half. Watched it years ago (around the year it released, I think) but my English was terrible and it didn't have subtitles. Now that I see it properly it's amazing. It's creepy. One of those cases where you see so many red flags for the main characters that you can't help but think the monster is the least of their problems, even after the credits roll. Even so, I kinda root for them. Like, at times it seems the movie wants you to believe they don't deserve a drop of kindness, but each of them whenever you see them without certain, influences, you can see how much they care about each other. I love it. Santa Sangre (or Holy Blood). Didn't know what to expect from a NC-17 movie, but it was actually pretty tame, the rating is probably a thing of its time. It was, adorable somehow? Yeah, there's blood (duh) and it has its fair share of murder, but the characterization is so good, I ended up attached to the person doing the killing, and to a girl with very little screentime whose only main method of communication is simply smiling, but it works so well. And the central theme is so good. You would watch the first ten minutes or so and believe the symbol they chose to give the movie its title (it's so hard not to spoil this) is only a cheap way to get creepy points. But then it carries on throughout the whole plot leading up to the last line, which honestly makes the movie twice as good as soon as it's said. This is a new favorite of mine. Let the Right One In. Been meaning to watch this since forever. It's probably the best vampire movie I've ever seen. Look, I love Interview with the Vampire, and I can enjoy Twilight, but there's something about removing the politics and the lore. Like there's always a secret society between vampires, or a gang at least, or some ancient being behind all of them. It's great, I live for that stuff. But then there's this. It was simply "Look, that person starves if she doesn't drink blood. We made a movie about how hard it is to live like that" and it's great, it's such a personal story, and all the more scarier than the alternative too. No explanations, you just see enough interactions to make your own conclusions, and the difficulties it brings for her and anyone that associates with her. The VVitch. This has to be the scariest one out of the four. I have to commend a movie that manages to make me distrust literal children. It's so dark though, I had to turn off the lights so that the background was even darker and I could actually see (usually it's the opposite, I don't like watching screens in the dark because everything is so bright it's torture for my eyes, but this one felt just right). But yeah, this is one where I feel like the main idea was to make a simple representation of what people believed back then, how they lived, and what would happen if everything they fear was more than just stories. There's so much distrust, so much trauma too. I never know if what I'm watching is actually happening, or if a character in their grief and faith has started seeing things. This one just kept me guessing all the way through and none of the options were ever good. It comes to a point where I was just thinking I'd settle for a single character surviving.
  5. Mentions of the orbal network just came up in Tokyo Xanadu and my brain just started sneezing unintelligible theories for a second, even though I know they would all be wrong.
  6. Uh let's see. Some roasted chicken, rice, a curious sweet salad, and a, darn what's the word for this? Like a mashed potato patty. What did you have for dinner?
  7. That is one rare chance, it requires strength, skill, and is likely illegal. Still waiting for the stars to align. TPBM knows the pain of being hungry at 3am.
  8. Not even headcanon just wishful thinking. But imagine if Era 4 featured every major protagonist. Elend fighting side by side with Renarin. Nale having to decide if Shai is a terrible person because she's a thief. Absolutely everyone recognizing Hoid. But sadly, some die during their own stories, some will die regardless because the timeline is measured in centuries. TPBM speaks/writes in more than one language.
  9. I found it scarier when it doesn't see you. You're just there, not moving, half expecting it to see through the wall and find you.
  10. I have, they were part of my dinner last night. TPBM is enjoying some horror movies/games/books for the month.
  11. There's a couple I could mention here. Academagia is one. It's a mixed bag but a mostly positive one, if you don't mind some obstacles. It's a text-based game (more text than anything else) where you attend a magic academy. It has random events along with the plot and you can train abilities both magical and non-magical to to determine your chance of success in any given action. The problems though are that the difficulty curve is pretty much vertical, it's really cryptic regarding what any given ability is actually useful for (a lot of them so specific the chances of you using it are astronomical), and it was to be the first game in a series of 5, of which the second one never came out, so you only get to play the first year. The Avernum series. Or actually, I should recommend just Spiderweb Software games in general. It's a small studio, I think just a man with the help of his wife. They make low end games. They're not looking to revolutionize the industry or anything, it's just their normal income. So graphics are somewhat basic, all art is commissioned and from what I've played there's no music. They're really interesting rpgs, mostly old school crpg style, and really interesting concepts for the stories and settings. Like parallel dimensions used as a prison by a tyrannical world government. Probably a bit more known, and if not, I'm happy to recommend it, but World of Horror is this amazing graphic adventure. The thing is going for an 80s atmosphere I think, and everything from the setting to the graphics and the sound design are permeated by it. Visually it even looks like it could run on DOS. The game works by playing some small stories that tie into a bigger one, and you choose the order so each one is its own small campaign with several endings. I think it also has the option for custom campaigns but don't quote me on that. Art is by Junji Ito and stories and creatures are based on both Japanese horror and cosmic horror afaik so yeah, it's amazing. These ones are probably well known by anyone familiar with roguelikes and management games and stuff but I feel they're worth mentioning just in case. Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead is this open world game. Ascii graphics but plenty of tilesets to choose from, where you just survive as long as you can. It s hard as nails but it has the most freedom I've seen in a game and thanks to the way mods work here, you can tweak even the setting to your tastes. You could go vanilla zombie alien apocalypse or you could go zombie alien apocalypse with magic and dinosaurs. And Rimworld. Again, I think it's fairly known, it has amazing reviews, but I don't ever see people talking about it. It's a colony management game. Three people crash in an unknown planet and you manage their survival. Ultimate goal is to escape but you decide what happens in the meantime. It describes itself as a story generator so all the management stuff is the means for the storyteller (it has three of those. They decide what events you get, how often, and how difficult) to play with you and for they colonists personalities to come out. It's addictive and great. Think Dwarf Fortress but more personal and very beginner friendly. These are the ones I can think of at the moment. The post is a bit longer than I intended but I got carried away. May remember more in the future. Hope it helps.
  12. Granted. People are allergic to you. When anywhere under 10 feet from you, they start sneezing uncontrollably, loudly, and with a pretty good range and aim. I wish for some AA batteries with infinite charge.
  13. Finished Metroid Fusion. It was so different from Super, and yet it's a great sequel. Almost a horror game too. Well, I already would argue that the series as a whole has a lot of horror elements but this one took them further (and by the looks of it, Dread follows the trend). It was an amazing game save from the fact that it locks you out of everything at the end. Considering this game is more linear than the rest I should have expected it, but I didn't and therefore couldn't go item hunting before the final boss. I really missed those energy tanks. Since I'm too broke to buy Dread at the moment, I guess it's time to finish the Prime series. I was going to start Prime 2 next, but I think I'll replay the first one instead. The first time I knew nothing about the series and all the lore bits about the Chozo, and the space pirates, and the metroids, and all the returning alien species flew right over my head. Now I think I'll be able to appreciate them properly. Besides, they say Prime is a perfect translation of the Metroid formula. I want to see if the things I learned from the main series apply here.
  14. That's an understatement. TPBM can't describe how much they like chocolate.
  15. Chihuahua. I'm from Mexico. I don't get into fanfiction much, I'm afraid. TPBM has a favorite shade of blue.
  16. I may be the only Sharder in my state. I know there are others in the country but apparently even on that scale we aren't many. TPBM wishes more of their irl friends were interested in the same things as them.
  17. On occasion yeah, for the final lap mainly. I suddenly feel like 200 pages is not that big of a number, but then I start at 8pm and finish at 3am. I usually regret nothing. TPBM is in a tabletop rp group.
  18. Yeah, IVs definitely sound scarier. With normal shots I can manage to sit down and take it, but it takes effort. Yesterday my breathing was all messed up and my hands got numb when my turn came for some reason. At one point while I was waiting I even got up of my chair out of reflex, like to get out. It's, not nice.
  19. So, anyone else here starts hyperventilating whenever you so much as imagine a syringe piercing your skin? It's not like misinformation. I know it doesn't hurt, I know I'll barely even feel it, and I know it's not dangerous, heck, I took my first shot already. But that won't make the fear go away. Anyway, brb, gotta make a scene as a grown adult surrounded by other adults so I can be immune to this thing.
  20. Granted. It's your choice whether to keep it alive or not, but for each new post someone somewhere eating their favorite snack will get food poisoning. It might be you some day. I wish my laptop was faster.
  21. I'm having waffles at the moment. Waffles, pancakes, or French toast?
  22. I'm 75 hours into this game and halfway through chapter 3, so that sounds like the halfway point of the game, making Sen3 the longest one so far. Ao took me 71 hours, and now I'm genuinely scared that next time I play it it'll feel too short.
  23. Granted. It heals, maybe too much. How big was your fingernail again? I wish the milk for my coffee wasn't sour.
  24. Probably because blue is also my favorite. Mmm at the moment The Neverending Story, I think. What's your favorite movie?
  25. Uhhh blue? What's your favorite color?
