  1. I didn't mean mid-week. I meant if I got to it I would submit later that Monday, which didn't happen... Sorry for the confusion, and yes please, do add me to the list for next Monday. Edit: Also, what's up with not being able to tag @kais ? I've tried to tag her/him (not sure which one it is) for a post or two, and sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, as it seems was the case for you @Silk
  2. I, @Master OoklaJack, read the last line of every single book I read! And I'm not ashamed! (Although I probably should but let's be honest, last lines don't usually reveal that much)
  3. Thanks again! I've bookmarked this thread so when I need a book to read, I have one! Just a few more questions. I imagine if these were clean someone would have already mentioned them, but I thought I'd check anyway. Yes or no answers are great, my definition of clean is Warbreaker. The Martion, Andy Weir Imager Portfolio, L.E. Modessit Terry Pratchett Books, someone mentioned Color's Of Magic, how are his other ones?
  4. That would be soooo cool! You'd have to use a sculpting program. I use Blender because it's free. I very much doubt I have the skill to do a Mistborn chess set half-decently, and beyond that, I doubt I could make it printable. Anyway, @King Cole , if you want to try your hand at it, I would suggest Blender, very easy to use, and very well made.
  5. About that... I haven't had made time to write this week. I may submit if I have make time to write tomorrow, but don't be surprised if I don't. If I submit, it'll be later in the afternoon or evening. I hope that's okay
  6. If you ever have the time, please record your process for a speedpaint, I would love to see how you work! This is amazing @dnavenom ! Great work, and please keep them coming!
  7. Welcome @Million Storms! Have an upvote, and happy reading! P.S. I would second @Cephandrius Everstorm's caution about the cookies. And as for @Ookla the Noble, I've seen him lurking around the hemalurgically free bakery, so he's probably pretty trustworthy. But be wary of anyone who offers cookies, or any baked goods for that matter. Edit: If you're looking for some quick upvotes, have a taste for danger, and can withstand the temptation, there are plenty of people looking for spies to do some work in the Dark Alley , specifically the Bakery.
  8. I would like to vote for @Ookla the Toasted
  9. Welcome to the Shard @Zophos ! Have an upvote, don't accept any cookies from Dark Alleys, happy reading, and have fun! *gasping for breath*
  10. I"ve been going back to some classics, including A Wizard of Earthsea, by Leguin, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, by Twain, and Harry Potter. I would just like to comment on how influential A Wizard of Earthsea has been. While I'm not certain it was influencing these authors, there are definately relationships in the magic and story. The first 2 or 3 chapters felt very much like Harry Potter... Or I should say, Harry Potter felt very much like these first few chapter. The naming magic felt very reminiscent of Name of the Wind, except Earthsea came first On the subject of naming, the old language felt very much like Eragon, except again, Earthsea came first The whole thing with turning into beasts and them eventually overcoming you felt very much like the Wit magic from the Farseer Trilogy, but Earthsea came first There are so many relationships between Earthsea and other popular fantasy books, and I love Leguin's style. If anyone hasn't read it, I would highly recommend it! As for Harry Potter, I read the whole series 3 or 4 times 5 or 6 years ago, but now I'm getting my 9-year old sister into it with a reading contest. For every Potter book she finishes before me, she gets a candy bar, but I can only read for 10 minutes a day. So far, I'm winning, about 3/4 through book 1.
  11. Agreed!
  12. Welcome @Katsuo Stormblessed! Have an upvote, and I would also suggest not to visit the bakery in @Ookla the Hematist's signature.
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's forgotten major parts of Brandon's books. (WoR) (Also WoR) In my defense, I first read Stormlight 4 years ago when I was 11.
  14. Same @Ookla the peer-pressured!
  15. I'm really enjoying submitting and critiquing (although due to NaNoWriMo that's only happened once) and I'd like to submit again on Monday, if that's cool.
  16. After the Michael Vey series fell apart after book 3, I'm not eager to read anything else by Richard Paul Evans. I couldn't even make myself read book 7 to see how it ended.
  17. Brandon Sanderson once tried to write with paper and pen... He couldn't find a pen that could take the pressure
  18. First off, I'm proud to say that I did not fill up your inboxes with the same email this week, yay! Second, thank you all for reading and critiquing my submission, even through all of its harmful tropes and unconscious biases (I assure you, they were all unconscious.) @Mandamon, thanks for all your blocking suggestions, that's something I'm very much working on. @industrialistDragon, thanks for the suggestion about the dead girl story, it's given me an idea for another story... And last but by far not least, @kais thanks for finding and pointing out all of my harmful tropes. As a teenager, I haven't read enough to spot all of them and your critique was very helpful. I did not intend this in the least to be sexy, and Sarrann is one of the POV characters I have planned currently, and sexy was not what I was intending. In my outline, S and D have been very close friends for a long time, and romantic was not at all how I was intending this to be. Finally, if someone could explain what fridging is, that would be great...
  19. First of all, thanks for reading another poorly developed character everyone, @Mandamon , @Lost Owl Needs Tea , and @industrialistDragon . Second, I very much realize that she sounds like a whiny teenager, and I think I've found a way to fix that, maybe I'll submit that in a week or two... Hopefully, my submissions aren't a bore, and I'm very grateful for all of you reading them!
  20. I'm not sure if this's been mentioned in this thread before, but I'm not going to read through all 13 pages, so please forgive me and disregard this if it's already been mentioned. Anyway, becoming an Edgedancer would be sooooo poignant for Adolin, specifically because of the oaths. I mean, remembering those who have been forgotten? That would be so cool after he has murdered Sadeas and re-awakened a dead (and forgotten) spren, then bonded it.
  21. Also, if you're wondering what is up with this Ookal thing, go ahead and check out this thread.
  22. Let me be the first to welcome you to the Shard @CrazyManth3 ! It's all very overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Take an upvote! Beyond that, jump right in and have fun! P.S. don't accept any cookies
  23. Thanks for all of these suggestions! How about Martian?
  24. While I'm don't follow the MCU as much as some, and I've only seen Doctor Strange, I do tend to watch the new trailers, because Marvel trailers are so storming epic! So, I would just like to take a second to reflect on how STORMING AMAZING this new Infinity War trailer is.
  25. What if Odium's end goal is to take out Cultivation? Would the dagger have enough power if it had killed all 10 Heralds?
