Should be time, I'll be starting the meeting proper sometime tomorrow (My tomorrow, so like 8-18 hours from now depending on how my day shapes out)

A number of DA lawyers raised objections at once upon hearing the Jackal's proposal. One of them immediately stood up and called across the floor. "I'm sorry but what? You expect us to allow you to enter into a private conversation with your suspected employer with no guards where no one can hear you? Why would you ever think we would agree to that?" He turned towards the rest of the council. "I suggest that this request be denied to prevent either escape attempts, violence, or simply collusion and the ability for two suspect individuals to speak privately with each other and rehearse their testimony."

The young doorman greeted Renata and Wilhelm with a warm smile and a small bow. "Sir, Madame. The meeting is being held in the lounging room, just through here." He led the two inside, towards where a small number of others were also waiting. There was a mixed air of curiosity, excitement and intrigue. None of the guests seemed to be particularly familiar with their host and many were idly wandering the room and perusing its contents. "We're just waiting for a few more arrivals." The doorman said. "Then the doctor should arrive and he can inform you further. Please, make yourselves at home." He gave them another polite smile and returned to his post at the door, just as another woman walked past him, not waiting for him to finish greeting her in return or asking for directions. But she seemed to make her way towards the correct room, so the doorman simply gave her a confused no of respect as she passed him and let her know the same information before returning to wait at the doorway.

RP thread is up:

On the eastern edges of Alleycity stood a large, stone tower. The tower was crooked, it's walls seemed to spiral around themselves as they grew from the ground and culminated in a metal tip which resembled a satellite dish. The door to the tower stood open, a young man in his early teens waited in a fine suit, holding the door ajar and greeting visitors as they arrived. Invitations had been sent out to a number of individuals, requests had been posted in taverns and missives had been sent to various guilds, all to try to gather people in this tower for an expedition. They'd kept the invitations brief and to the point, a somewhat eccentric scientist had discovered a rift in the cognitive realm, while the cognitive realm was already a convenient means of travel to distant places it still took some time, and this rift in particular seemed special. It was a rift to an entirely unknown section of the universe, or perhaps a different universe altogether. Some early groups had passed through and begun to scout out the area, reporting constellations that didn't match anything that had been previously recorded. But now a larger expedition had been requested, and they needed volunteers. "Good day sir, my name is Gedwyn, may I take your coat?" The young man at the door asked as a man walked briskly up to the door. "Thank you sir, the gathering is just through that door, to the right of the stair case." He gestured towards a set of double doors on the interior that led into a large room, larger than seemed possible given the dimensions of the tower, filled with large comfortable couches, a warm rug and a roaring fireplace. A trio of other men and women, dressed as waiters, circled the room. They offered drinks and food to those waiting in the interior.

Gamma 5 padded softly into the room, she briefly examined each of its inhabitants with heavily lidded eyes before moving over to a corner and curling up. She kept one eye open and watching the room in case she needed to respond, but it had been a long day. Three could keep watch from outside anyway. I need to take some leave soon. She let out a large yawn, her jaw opened wide and revealed that several of her teeth seemed to have been replaced with metallic spikes. Hopefully everything stays calm until the next shift. But then, humans are really dumb sometimes. She rested her head on her front paw, still lazily watching the gathered group but not showing any threat to them.

Gamma 7 felt conflicted, one of the small humans had grabbed his fur and then started leaking fluid onto him. Usually humans tended to die when they were leaking fluids, but this didn't seem to be red, and it wasn't in a large quantity. It was probably okay wasn't it? But they'd also promised to protect these small humans, so should he report this to someone? His tongue lolled out of his mouth and he licked the side of the small humans face, hoping it wouldn't alarm him. It definitely didn't taste like the blood that he was used to tasting from humans. The other little humans nearby didn't seem worried about the liquid coming from this one's eyes either. Satisfied that there was no immediate danger, Gamma 7 rested his head on the little humans shoulder. Keeping a watch for any enemies that tried to ambush him.

Gamma-7 trotted through the hallways of the church, nose pressed to the ground. He could smell the heavy, burning scent of the Dor, powerfully used here on a large scale. He could smell the acrid, ozone-like scent of Stormlight, though that was fainter. But there had been a number of patches where it had been used. Many Surgebinders had been here. He lifted his head, staring at a nearby open doorway, there were Invested inside, though none of them particularly powerful. He cautiously wandered over and poked his head through the entrance. A number of small humans were clustered together, the smell of the Dor hung faintly around them all, both Aonic and Forgery based it seemed. But these were part of the group that Gamma-7 had been told to protect, so there was no danger. He barked a short, happy, greeting towards them and then crossed past the doorway, further along the corridor. Some of the small humans seemed curious and excited to see him, calling him a 'puppy'. He lacked the physiology to form human words so he couldn't correct them to let them know that a proud Seekrador was not a simple puppy but it also seemed like an innocent enough mistake anyway. Most humans weren't that smart after all, correcting them would be pointless. At a nearby intersection he smelled something familiar, others from his pack were converging at the same spot. A moment later he saw Gamma 3 and Gamma 5 arrive, they all gave a short greeting as they met before swapping reports. They shared information, using a combination of growls, barks, and body language, it seemed that the others had found much the same as he had. The enemies had all been captured, the only Invested walking free were allies. They'd also all apparently noted a peculiar scent, an Investiture they hadn't smelled before. Two in particular had stood out from the rest, one had smelled of sulphur, burning and hatred. It had smelled like Voidbinding almost, but a little different. The other had been earthy, it had smelled of dirt and growing things, like the smell of Progression only without the Stormlight. Interesting. Keep watch over them both. Gamma-7 communicated to the others. One of them is one of our allies but be careful all the same. Gamma 3 and 5 barked their assent and then bounded off the other corridors, tracking the smell of the Investitures to their source. Gamma-7 turned around and walked back the way it had come. He was curious about the small humans, they'd looked so fragile. How did they protect themselves? How did they contain all that Investiture without it tearing them into pieces? He found the small humans again, approaching slowly so that they didn't startle. One of them walked nervously forward with an arm outstretched, so Gamma 7 politely lifted his nose to it and memorized the scent. The small human seemed to smile and started scratching Gamma 7 behind the ear. Well I guess they're not all that stupid. This one knows how to be polite at least. He tilted his head so the angle was better and then sat down on the floor. They were supposed to protect these allies, so he supposed it made sense to stay nearby so that he could notice any threats to them more easily.

Whisper snuck back into the room, appearing in the same form she'd had at the start of the attack, a young girl from the church, though there was now soot and blood stains on her dress and she had a somewhat wider-eyed stare. She kept her distance, listening as Terrel spoke. Perhaps something to drive the point home? She breathed out a large puff of Stormlight, forming it into an illusion overhead. It showed the insides of one of the rooms in the church as a group of huddled children crouched before a group of Ghostbloods who were about to fire upon them. It changed to show a room full of people trying to leap out of the way as an explosion ripped through them. Changed again to show the waiter, running through the carnage with glee and followed by a number of ghostbloods. Changed again to show the aftermath, the wounded being carried around for medical care, the terrified faces of the people. The image slowly faded into a shower of sparkling motes.

At the request of Dan's boss, Fred lowered his railgun. His shoulders slumped with disappointment. What kind of guild left people alive when they tried to attack them? Or did they want to keep them alive for later experimentation? That would make sense he supposed. He gave Dan's boss a knowing smile and a small shrug, then took the rest of his team to help with the cleanup effort. It was all a little disappointing, the fight hadn't lasted long after they'd all arrived. He'd barely managed to collect any spikes at all. And only managed to blow up that one copter. But if they were lucky then the Ghostbloods might try a second offensive Or someone might try a rescue mission. "Let's keep ready." Fred said sternly to the rest of his team. "Yeah." One replied snarkily "Never know when more of those pesky satellites are going to fly overhead."

Fred aimed a railgun at the Ghostbloods nearby and turned towards a nearby member of the church. "Shall we execute them?"

A particularly young denizen appeared nearby, his short, cropped, black hair was in a mess and he seemed to have a number of scrapes along his arms and legs, the young boy approached the other Denizens from the DA and began quietly whispering to them before departing once more. "Well it seems like the matter at the church is now settled." One of the denizens said. "But it appears that the Ghostbloods are also transporting significant numbers of people away from the Oasis City. These forces don't seem to be arriving at the church as a relief effort either so I am a little curious as to where exactly such forces are being moved to."

One of the nearby acolytes grinned back at the old lady. "Oh we've been trying to dial it back for a while now. But did you want a show of our 'compentence'?" A spike slid into his free hand, the point glinting menacingly. One of the nearby DA lawyers smacked the acolyte over the back of his head with a briefcase as he stood up. "The words of this acolyte do not constitute a threat and are not representative of the organization commonly known as the Dark Alley. The Dark Alley takes no responsibility for his words or any actions which may arise because of them. Usual disclaimers apply, please see one of our branch offices for full details. Hearing this statement may constitute your willingness to forfeit your soul in some dimensions..." He continued for several minutes, outlining the full minutiae of his points.

Fred watched the sky, eagerly. The metal tube was practically humming in anticipation on his shoulder as he kept a keen eye out in the sky above. "There!" He suddenly exclaimed, pulling the tube into position, aiming, and firing within a single breath. A spike suddenly blasted out the other end of the tube, propelled to incredible speeds by the railgun that Fred had used. An instant later, Fred smiled with satisfaction as he watched the spike impact something small and metallic that he'd seen flying past. "What was that?" Fred asked, curious. "Did anyone get a good look at it?" One of the nearby denizens slapped their own face with their palm, refusing to answer. Another looked at Fred a little pittyingly. But why? He'd hit the targer, and that was a good long shot! It must have been miles and miles away... "That was one of our satellites." The pittying denizen noted. "Maybe turn down the tin a little." Fred glanced back upwards, blinking a few times. "Now that you mention it..." He stopped speaking and loaded another spike into the tube, taking aim at the sky once more and this time making sure he only tapped enough tin to see things that were inside the atmosphere.

A number of DA lawyers appeared nearby, each of them held a briefcase in one hand and a long, silvery spike in the other. They stared upwards towards the man in the upper corners. "Which officers? None have been appointed yet. Also your premise is flawed twice-over. Firstly, that bill has yet to be officially passed and so no law currently prohibits the usage of Hemalurgy in this building. And secondly..." He gestured with a flourish to one of the other lawyers, a short, somewhat balding man, who reached into his briefcase and pulled out an official-looking document. "If it does pass, we'll have something that we need to present to the officials here." The lawyers all sat down in a row, politely yielding the floor to anyone else who wanted to speak. Though one of the somewhat younger members among them did get a sly grin on his face and begin spiking himself at random, as though just to emphasize the fact that he could.

Whisper led the group she was with outside, then pointed up at the sky and gestured in Alleycant again to one of the denizens. "She says to keep an eye out for anything incoming." The denizen translated for the few of them who weren't quite proficient enough to decipher her rapid message. "Cut off their escape routes?" The leader of the group nodded, pulling a long metal tube out from a bag that definitely didn't look like it should be able to fit something that long. With a malicious grin he supported the tube with his shoulder and aimed one end of it towards the sky. "We got it covered, you head back inside." The leader said. Whisper nodded and darted back into the building. Most of the children had been safeguarded now and it seemed like the enemy numbers were thinning out. They had the momentum now, all they had to do was push.

Whisper moved from room to room, she never stayed in one place, never kept the same form, never used the same tactic. She changed to appear as a Ghostblood soldier as another group rounded the corner. Another illusion of Guards of the temple distracted them long enough for her to take them out one by one before they noticed what had happened. She found another grenade, and left the illusion of a child over the top of it. When another soldier had happened upon the illusion and opened fire on it he'd blown the rest of his group up along with himself." When she found any groups of children she created more illusions of them running in a different direction to lure the attackers away. She hid DA ambushers, revealed stealthy attackers, misled trackers and stalked lone soldiers. She ran swiftly, silently, and attacked without warning but with a surprising ferocity. Maybe next time they'll learn not to split forces in an unknown building. She met back up with some DA forces as they wiped the blood from spikes, looking around for the next target. She pulled a spare spike out from her own pocket, twirling it around in one hand in an Alleycant signal to let them know who she was. She stayed with their group for the moment, taking a moment to rest, recharge her spheres and surveyed their surroundings. Planning the next move.
