That's partially my point, that you really couldn't have a protagonist if this was his ability, he'd either be useless because he'd never use hemalurgy or not a protagonist because he has to murder or maim people to gain useful abilities. That aside it provides little conceivable benefits compared to just using hemalurgy anyway, Vins earring held enough of a charge to significantly increase her allomancy, a few more earrings would not really hinder anyone in a noticeable way.

Weight is frequently stored in its entirety, doesn't cause anyone to be permanently weightless, and I actually got WoB on copper that you could partially store a memory in a coppermind and it'd still be a permanent loss until you retrieved it. Pathian earrings would have such a small charge by AoL that they'd be nigh on useless

I think the same problem I had with the Nicrosil theory, feruchemy doesn't usually cause permanent changes like that and it seems like it would only be useful in an oddly specific combination of abilities.
-
Feruchemy tends not to create permanent loss of something, the exception being copper. I'd think it unlikely that you would be able to do something like this with feruchemy, it's unlikely to ever be usable by anyone other than a primary antagonist since they'd still have to make the spikes (Kill people) which is what I'd view as the actual main drawback from hemalurgy, spikes don't have to be particularly large to be effective, especially if you're just doing it for compounding so I don't see this as being particularly helpful.

Yeah that's what I was referring to at the start, that the well might gain it's knowledge of what constitutes a year by the planets cognitive aspect.
-
This is actually an interesting point I haven't thought about before, why is the Well there? I'm pretty sure other wells aren't near the poles, possibly something to do with the focus on Scadrial being metal I suppose, which would make sense given the location of the pool on Sel. Could they be the planets kind of lensing Shardic power through to the planet? Ah my mind just exploded with theories, which I may or may not formalise soon.
-
It'd probably be tied up with a cognitive structure of what a year is, either the view of people, or even the planet itself.
-
Or a limited amount of information to be transported, this one could go both ways really. maximum capacity does not naturally lead to actual storage since we're talking magical storage here, Sazeds pewter ring could not actually hold all the additional mass he gains when he taps it so there's no reason that storage should be limited.
-
Tell that to the power of creation and the first law Part of what I like about cosmere books is that they just have workarounds for thermodynamics, they don't ignore them.
-
Is it though? I personally find storage less likely, if it was simple energy storage there should be some form of decay in the attribute over time as it should still be subject to the laws of thermodynamics. Bane though they be

This, although it's not quite WoB, there's a bit of interpretation involved. But if you think about how compounding works it makes more sense to think of a feruchemical charge like this.
-
1024=16^2*16^-2 Yeah I like all of those too.
-
Well they can presumably mimic any eye-colour pigmentation so I'd say almost certainly yes, they would be able to mimic a tattoo, whether or not most of them would know how is entirely different, probably need TenSoon level body awareness for something like that.
-
I'd say more likely 6.25% Lerasium, 93.75% other metal, if you wanted to just be Lerasium strength in one metal. (6.25=100/16)
-
Well you'd definitely amplify the hangover later.
-
This is really, quite a good idea. Store your feruchemy in a Lerasiummind, overwriting the allomantic charge, then get someone to burn it and they gain feruchemy permanently. I like it.
-
But one bead is variable in size and one bead at the right time when everyone else is providing their beads let's you quickly kill the guards to get more beads.

Speculating is fine but it needs a basis, otherwise there's no room for discussing it, we could speculate what each Atium alloy would do aswell, but unless we use what we already know about atium's alloys then it's a bit pointless, kind of like speculating about the name of all of Spooks children we could come up with an infinite number of names but it'd be pointless. Yes Smokers can do things we haven't seen yet but we haven't really had any exceptional Smokers' POV yet either, we've had multiple POV's from those who specialise in Iron and Steel and none suggest that they can tell metals apart by their lines.
-
Don't think so, just crack 'em open
-
Well he already knew a fair bit about allomancy from working in thieving crews so I always assumed he just scarfed down all the atium he could find, along with any edible pieces of allomantic metals if there were any. But he should've been able to manage just with the atium.
-
That's really weird then. I might have to add that to my list of questions to see if it was a mistake. EDIT: Ah sorry, no I meant the one where we got that Splinters might know how to use Lerasium
-
I don't know that Shardpools would be considered Splinters, and the only other people who held Splinters we know of are Returned who didn't demonstrate that big a knowledge of realmatics or anything. So maybe there are Splinters we don't know of yet who know this kind of thing but I'm thinking that this might be a mistake in transcription or something, do we know who wrote up that report?
