Ignore the cookie haters, they just don't appreciate the glory of cookies and metal. Welcome to the forums!

Cookies are wonderful and anyone who wants to stop you from eating them is evil. Welcome to the insanity of the 17th Shard!

Already finished my second read, contemplating a third but I think I'll re read Steelheart instead. It's like 40C here for the last week so it's too hot to do anything other than read.

TBH I think that aside from the big thing we've all been thinking about not much is different from what we thought, the number of nice characters for instance has an out I can think of when we've all finished the book. Funtimes definitely has some outs given her current character and situation. Oh and on a completely random sidenote:

It could also be because Funtimes is one of the only Epics I can think of who could take him on. I'm also trying to make a list of powers we got confirmed from the book so far I've got: (Spoilers for Firefight follow)

I wanted very much to unsee it. I think Funtimes deserves a hug. All of the hugs.

For some reason throughout the book I kept imagining Obliteration as one of Funtimes' exes.

From my memory I think most of my Epics weaknesses will be fine as they are. I had a similar idea to the pattern of Epic weaknesses though I got it slightly off, so luckily I shouldn't need to change any.

Welcome to the insanity, Elantris is definitely the best book to start on IMO to see how Brandons writing has evolved. Would you like a cookie? -
Ignore the cookie haters, what kind of evil person hates cookies? Welcome to the 17th Shard, take an upvote and a cookie.

Firefight talk (SPOILERS!!! do not read before book)
Voidus replied to Sirscott13's topic in The Reckoners
I think David actually getting powers would be a bit of a cop-out with the possible exception of being a Gifter. His strength lies in his ability to connect with and understand Epics, letting him suddenly just shoot lasers from his eyes would undermine his character a lot. However with the absence of Prof the Reckoners do need some kind of substitute for his Gifting to help them survive Epic fights, though this could come from Megans powers getting technified and letting characters resurrect. -
Yay other people have finished! What did we all think? Awesomtasticamazingerrifyingly great? On the plus side certain plot-sensitive reveals justify a few Epics I've been holding back for feat their powers would be non-canonical. Anyone else on their second trying-to-catch-all-the-clues read yet? (In case the dozen or so pages of Epics weren't clue enough I can be a bit obsessive at times)

Interesting tangent of Oregons history, a science professor in Portland realized that by combining the creepiness of Nighthound with the cuteness of a pug perpetual motion and hence unlimited energy could be achieved. By placing the Nighthound near the pug people would simultaneously want to never look at it again and look at it all day, causing perpetual revolutions of the body. It was later decided that it wasn't worth it. And then Nighthound died.

Kookaburras are way too lazy to be messenger birds, they just sit around stealing your food and laughing at you. True Australians still use Roo mail though

Don't worry, the postal service in Australia already hates everyone. Pugs are kinda cute but personally I'll always be most attached to Labs.
