  1. They are speculated to be the unmade though it has been confirmed that they are of Odium.
  2. Kelsier and his squad they would be a barrel of laughs. Would you rather be a Kandra with the blessing of presence or Tineye savant?
  3. All this may be true of acts committed currently while he rules however, what of acts committed prior to his ascension? In theory if Nale found out about them after the fact he might be fair game.
  4. My speculation on this matter rests on two fronts part a is that their presence could possibly be a trigger and as a result no matter what they do events are set ion motion that they cannot stop. Part b is that them being out in the the open might cause the men to do horrible things regardless of whether my first premise was correct. Meaning if they thought a desolation was coming even if it was not the collateral damage would be something that the heralds would want to avoid at all costs.
  5. While I do agree that there is a great deal that we don't know about what starts a desolation there are several things that we do know. 1st "the return" of the heralds is a signal of a coming, 2cnd is that this is something which the heralds themselves would be aware of. I would conjecture that perhaps if they would come out into the open that might well ( and I speculate wildly on this) bring about the desolations. 3rd we know in hindsight that in fact the events of that night spiraled into the desolation. I might argue that the fact that they were even present was a trigger it may be a stretch, but it is still possible. That as a side note assuming that their reappearance may at least start a human push to fight in a desolation imagined or not I would be hard pressed to say that they would step into the light and support any one faction. On the matter of it being against Nale's code of honor to commit regicide I disagree. I think that that murder could easily be justified in his eyes if he saw fit to make it so. He is no stranger to murder when a crime has been committed I don't see how this would be different if he decided that what Gavilar did in the past was deserving of the death penalty.
  6. When you hear the famous house divided speech by Lincoln and all that you can think is: One of the three bondsmiths has been revealed.
  7. I wholeheartedly agree and I too have been bothered by Dalinar though not precisely for all of the same reasons. 1) I am annoyed about how his naivety has for the most part gone unpunished. He has not truly felt the consequences of being as naive as he is save the incident on the tower.2) His flaws seem too small for a character of his importance. He comes off as almost too honorable and just despite what we know about him. These combined with what you have said truly makes his character one that seems too overhyped.
  8. I would observe that when Vasher is suppressing his breath the blade may in fact be heavier for him than it looks that it should. It may be balanced, but it is would still be extremely heavy for him in that form.
  9. Well things are about to get very interesting very fast then. In which case I cast my vote for Vivenna and Shallan.
  10. It may be difficult, but you can only gain great reward with great effort!!
  11. Where was that confirmed? As far as I can tell Brandon RAFO'd questions about her. He did not go one way or the other.
  12. It is possible that there was rift created between Taravangian and the sons of honor due to his disapproval of what they wanted to do. If in fact this is what went through his mind then it could explain why he went to the Nightwatcher. Conceivably he might also have lost confidence in the ability of the sons of honor to carry out their plan once Gavilar had been killed. Taravangian does not call the other members of the cabal friend which might indicate what he thought of the others with whom Gavilar associated. This might have driven him to find an alternative which in turn could have led him to go to the Nightwatcher. Only time will tell what the truth of his thought process really was.
  13. An army of inquisitorial beavers. Hmm... lumber empire here we come.
  14. I must humbly disagree. What angle would the Heralds have had to cause his assassination? Nale and Kalak did not seem overly pleased that Szeth was in possession of Jezrien's blade would they then really send him to use it. While I can hear the possibilities set that @Calderis and @Ciridae present, but I further submit that if this was their idea then a)Ishar would have had no need to suggest that Nale start taking out Radiants. b) Nale would have had no need to take any action to stop a desolation which he according to that interpretation he already took steps to end. Also as @Pattern and @Calderis pointed out his is a far more hands on style which runs counter to what we see with Gavilar's assassination.
  15. Granted, but it does not work. I call upon the powers of the Nightwatcher to fulfill my boon. I wish to have all of the wisdom of the ages.
  16. Granted, As you stand before the Nightwatcher your clothes become those of a court fool. I call upon the powers of the Nightwatcher to fulfill my boon. I wish to hold all of the powers of Adonalsium.
  17. @djdisturbed Welcome to our den of addiction. We have the flavor of brandon for everyone!! Enjoy!!!
  18. WoR Spoiler
  19. Now I know that this is a minor point, but I think that it is interesting to note that Eshonai states that "She'd always imagined humans- as sung of in songs- as dark formless monsters." This course of description is a familiar one as this is what many believed to in fact be the form of the voidbringers. We now know that is in fact the parshendi who are in fact the voidbringers. I am curious how the traditions came to line up despite the separation of millennia between their encounters. The fact that she says that they are in fact "wonderful bizarre creatures". Creates a sharp contrast to the way the Alethi the parshendi (ie savages). This point of contrast may in fact be there simply to help the story along or maybe there is more to the connection between men and the Parshendi than we see initially. Can it be that there is a subconscious collective memory at play that combined with Alethi bias creates a scenario which is ripe for the arrival of a desolation?
  20. When you are talking to your friends and you keep saying recreance instead of recreational.
  21. @Darkness Ascendant after high school I spent ten months studying abroad .My roommate at the time was somewhat a sanderfan. He told me that I should start reading his books.. I was quite unwilling at the time because I was quite particular about the books that I read and some fantasy writer who was unknown to me simply did not appeal. He handed me Elantris and to put it mildly I was less than impressed I did not finish it and I would have quit then and there.Luckily I suppose he also had Warbreaker which is what hooked me when I read it and now here I am.
  22. It is possible that this was the goal, but then the question becomes was that something which he thought would be worth potential blow back if he fails to do so? we have no knowledge of how many shards that they had and whether that would precipitate a risky gambit against a people whose customs and levels of diplomatic/warfare skill he has little understanding of. It seems a bit of a risk for little enough reward as far as we know. Though that being said the theory is an interesting one that I hope is explored further.
  23. It may be a side effect, but that is still significant in that a side effect of the power of preservation is the creation of a mistborn. I doubt that the singular value of a single person preserved would in any way truly tip the scales and cause preservation to purposely change someone into a mistborn. @happyman's point about the mist I think proves the difficulty and possible reluctance of Leras to act considering that the mist randomly creating mistborn as a side effect rather than an automatic granting of power.
  24. My day was hellacious and stressful in ways that I have not seen in a long time. I ordered books from the college bookstore for my two weeks ago. Classes start at the end of the week and I figured that I would have everything on time. Early this morning I get an email that my order was cancelled because according to them I did not have sufficient funds in my account to pay. They waited two weeks to inform me that I would not be getting my books and classes start in days. I rushed to transfer money and reorder the books then I get an email that they can only fill part of my order. I had to go to amazon which in this case was more expensive and one of the books would not arrive at minimum a week after classes started with the possibility of a month passing before I would get it. I went back to the bookstore website and discovered that for more money than amazon I could rent which is my default. preference. So I eventually cancelled the book which would have come late and rented it despite the extra expense. It took me hours to sort it out and my stress level shot through the roof. Then I found out that despite what my academic adviser told me one of the classes that I am taking this semester will not count and my graduation will be held up because of it. I cannot begin to put my anger and stress into appropriate words which would accurately describe them.
