  1. Picturing a Parshendi-Kandra....Processing...Awesome overload.
  2. Interesting. That's pretty divergent from a lot of people on the boards who love Shallan. Care to elaborate?
  3. Just curious. I know there's a way to see which posts have been upvoted, but do we get to see by who? Or is that not available since we would also see who downvoted?
  4. This is actually a chart specifically for chargen. Otherwise it would prevent Terris from gaining Allomancy via spikes, and Allomancers from gaining Feruchemy via spikes, both of which we already know work.
  5. Kandralsticks? She's going to love that joke. Apparently the same day I posted I may have pictures, she took some pictures without me knowing. But she was having some clear glass glare issues, and I came up with a solution, so we should have some soon! Also, Nik is totally fine. I'm used to it. (Except in one forum, where there's an actual Nik. That gets confusing.)
  6. So, I realized I'd been posting around all over this place this week without ever having posted an intro. Though I guess my post here: sort of provides all the relevant details. Probably should have posted it here! Call this a weak attempt at appearing to follow procedure
  7. SIIIIIIGH. Maybe after work, if I can remember. Hopefully the new microphone I bought doesn't make me chipmunk-y like my last one did.
  8. Maybe the purple and orange became the brown together. I think that's the color you get when you mix them >_> Or maybe they got so sick of not rhyming they founded the Black Ajah. Oh, edit: Also, I pick Green. Battle and passion, woo!
  9. Upvoted for your Red gift. Bwahaha.
  10. I found BS's work completely by accident on my part. However, it was planned by someone! I hadn't read a good fantasy book in a while, and my wife was looking around at book reviews and came across the Mistborn trilogy. She bought it for me as the boxed set for Christmas 2010, and I have not put down his work since. Well, not entirely true. I'm reading the early WoT books now so that I can read his works at the end. Of course, this is odd for me because I didn't start reading WoT until a month or two ago, but the whole series was pretty much spoilered for me thanks to a friend of mine who had been a fanboy since middle school. Oh well, at least I can be intrigued by the little details. Mistborn has become so popular in my apartment with my wife and I recommending it to all of our friends, that we now have some candleholders with some of the Steel Alphabet etched into them. My wife is getting crafty. I've only seen the end result of one (one is still being made) but it's pretty spiffy. If it gets the final touch-ups it needs, I may even post a photo.
  11. I pronounce it "Egg-win" even though it's wrong. And it ticks off my wife. She pronounces it "Eg-wayne" as per the pronunciation guide. As to Szeth, I pronounced it Zeth until I started studying Russian. Then I found this letter that is like a "shch" sound, and started using it by accident.
  12. Talenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'ElinTalenel'Elin Thanks to the wonders of copy paste, I did it flawlessly in 3 seconds! Shorter, if I hadn't made sure to count them out...
  13. I would also like to know this, because it's messing with my memories of the scene where Vin is forced to take Aluminum.
  14. Really? Because then wouldn't you end up feeling super sick after burning Aluminum, thanks to all that metal still stuck in your stomach that you can't burn?
  15. I was thinking more of a quick "ditch the evidence" route. But you're right, recovery would be more valuable. I think aluminum gnats can purge-burn other metals, yes, but there's no point to them swallowing them. I guess it would prevent exposure to tainted metals, or unburnables sitting there as toxin. (Easier to burn a flake of aluminum than to force yourself to vomit.)
  16. After reading Alloy of Law and reading about the Aluminum (and alloy) bullets, I started thinking that perhaps Aluminum Gnats were no longer the worst thing ever. Sure they don't have a handy-dandy always useful thing but...they're now your bullet disposal. No more evidence! HERE, GNAT, EAT THIS BULLET AND BURN IT. I mean, it's much better than just leaving your evidence around, and even a Mistborn would hesitate (as it would kill their metal-stock). Of course, that's assuming the bullets in question are pure aluminum. I doubt it would work for alloy bullets.
  17. Kaladin's asexuality made me ship Kaladin/Syl....well, at least half-seriously. It would either never work, or work beautifully. But we don't understand spren that well yet, so *shrug*. However, considering how much more sentience she shows compared to any other common spren, the possibility for feelings of some sort can be there. (And to be honest, I was totally comparing Kaladin/Syl to Peter Pan/Tink in my head for a moment).
  18. What if it was in fact just a randomly discovered planet but they named it after the person who found it? Sort of like we do with comets? Or with people buying moon property, or buying the name rights to stars?
  19. Loving/healing corresponds to the shiny stones rather than the dull ones, so he could have that affinity instead. I'll have to go back through tWoK again soon for more theorycrafting, but not until I'm done with Wheel of Time.
  20. How does a Lurcher or Coinshot affect a metal ring that is set perfectly so their center of mass goes through the open hole in the middle? The center of mass of the metal would be in a location that has no metal.
  21. In the case of Soulcasters, wouldn't touching their device satisfy the physical part? Don't they have to wear it?
