  1. I like this idea, I think this is the best solution so far for making everything we've seen work together.
  2. I had to go back and read that passage again and you're right about there being wind, I think something else is going on there though. The way it's described, it sounds like the wall appeared from mist, like a shardblade, and then the wind appears afterward. It also seems like the wind lasts longer than one would expect if it has time to make the cloth 'snap and writhe' rather than just sucking it in instantly like a vacuum would. I admit that your answer is probably more likely, there was some weirdness to that scene though. Edit: You're probably right, it just goes completely against how Soulcasting works in my head. It bothers me too much that there's no other examples for Soulcasters changing the shape of something if they do it every time they Soulcast air. Edit again: Is it possible that they just pull in nearby mass to make up the difference in density? Someone needs to ask Brandon if the volume remains the same when you Soulcast something into a denser material.
  3. I don't think this is an example of Soulcasting changing something's shape. When they Soulcast something from air they just change the air contained within in the shape that they want and leave the rest of it as air. I imagine it as drawing out the shapes with dotted lines in your head, then changing only the air inside that section, like filling in a selection in CAD software. In theory though, this would allow a soulcaster to do plenty of FMA esque things, but without any of that silly 'equivalent exchange' nonsense, soulcast the air directly into the shape of a sword, for example. As many others have said, many of the larger feats in FMA would be prohibitive just because of the amount of stormlight needed, but judging from what we've seen so far (Jasnah Soulcasts a boulder and cracks one large stone, then one more Soulcasting several human bodies, and Shallan Soulcasts the whole bottom of a ship with only the spheres she happened to have nearby) I think that stormlight costs are going to be less prohibitive than a lot of people think.
  4. I agree, there's a reason so many of us have read it several times. If you're waiting for Oathbringer, I suggest reading Edgedancer in the meantime. Welcome to the Shard, and don't listen to the people who say not to eat the cookies, who turns down free cookies? Besides, they're high in iron.
  5. So, to answer my own question, after re-listening WoK and then going through WoR, the only difference I noticed was that Shallan spells "errogant" for Jasnah in WoK. I guess because you don't get to read the spelling.
  6. I'm going to be away from home when mine would be delivered as well, I just preordered the Audiobook instead, so I can download it at midnight. I don't know if that's an option for you, but its something.
  7. Our awesome new WoB database. https://wob.coppermind.net Launched yesterday.
  8. I think that some this could be solved by using one of those 'scratch off' codes. That way you could at least check to see if the code has been used, and it would make it more obvious if someone was trying to copy it in the store. Edit: Ninjaed by a better idea.
  9. As much as I want to see more Kaladin after that last chapter, if this chart is even still accurate, I think you're right, it's got to be Kaladin. The others just have too much going on to leave them hanging for a part.
  10. Granted, but you loose the ability to understand written text. Oh Nightwatcher! I emplore thee to grant me the ability to make any container into a bag of holding.
  11. It's been theorized before that the Rosharans use 'mink' the same way they use 'chicken,' to refer to a whole family of animals rather than a specific species. I'd be interested to see if anyone has spotted anything strange about them, but I think that in both the cases you mentioned the 'mink' was probably just a rat, doing rat stuff. (Or similar animal)
  12. According to this WoB, Kel and Zane represent the upper level of skill possible. Granted, this was way back in 2008.
  13. Great review! I'd love to see the uncensored version of that [REDACTED] paragraph once I've actually read the book. I filled it in like a Mad Libs for fun.
  14. Wax separated steel lines in a bullet casing, one for the primer, one for the shell, and one for the bullet. Kelsier is the only one that we've seen do the same thing with a single solid piece of metal. He's described as pushing on one end of the bar and pulling on the other, something that, as far as we know, no one else has been able to do.
  15. Yep, all the chapters from 'The Thrill' are already in the sample chapters now. However, I feel like it needs to be said that it was actually a pretty good anthology with a few of my other favorite authors besides Sanderson, and I think it's worth buying for the other stories as well.
  16. I would agree with you, if not for one specific scene: In TFE when Kelsier fights the Inquisitor. During that fight, Kelsier pushes and pulls on the ends of a metal bar, rather than the center of it, to spin it and whip it around. In my opinion, this shows more skill than any other Allomancer we've seen, regardless of savantism (and its debatable whether Wax is really a savant anyway) since, at most, Wax has been shown to be able to separate multiple steel lines only when the parts are distinct.
  17. I like Song of Secrets as a name, it'll be a storm for us Sharders though, since we already have a SoS abbreviation.
  18. I'm ready to make a prediction about this now I think it'll be 'The Song of Something-or -Other' One of the Listener songs just makes sense to me.
  19. If you think we won't be making predictions about book four by the time Oathbringer has been out a week, you must be more drunk on Stormlight than Brandon was
  20. It'll be irrelevant soon, there are some tricks to it though. You have to search all of the variations of what you're looking for. For example, in order to get all the results on Surgebinding, you have to search 'Surgebinding', 'surgebinding', 'Surgebinder', 'surge-binder', 'Surge binder', and every other variation you can think of. Its pretty bad. Edit: And that doesn't even get you everything, only the ones where someone actually says the specific words. The key is picking a word that you know should be in the quote somewhere.
  21. Also, just to add a bit, it is confirmed that Ettmetal and Harmonium are the same thing.
