STORMLIGHT SPOILERSThe Silence of the Shardblades
Contessa replied to Vissy's question in Cosmere Q&A
I always read that scene as Relis thinking the wordless scream is from Kaladin, and protesting that he didn't kill Kaladin. I guess your interpretation makes more sense though, especially since the person bonded with the blade is sort of the one who re-kills the spren every time the blade is dismissed.- 21 replies

What characters would you want to meet each other?
Contessa replied to kiapet's question in Cosmere Q&A
Siri and Lift, because they both come across as kinda light and goofy, but have a lot of deeper wisdom that could come out after a while. Also, Kelsier and Raoden, as an attempt to cancel out the Kaladin/Galadon pessimism. -
As we know from Shallan, and arguably some other characters who are known to have a spren, there are ways of hiding that you are broken. Shallan is perhaps not the best example, because of the fact that her spren specializes in, and was attracted to, the lies she formed regarding her breaks. However, I agree that we have not seen enough of Heleran to decide whether or not he's been broken.

Capable. During my few excursions there the spren have mentioned the expanses, and, unless my thinking is flawed, at least one of them could be another planet. My spren hints at this, but he's frustratingly vague. Am I wrong in assuming this means I can worldhop? (I hope not. It sounded storming cool!)

Hi! This is my official request to join. I've already posted in the Random Character in the Cosmere forum, but I have to admit I'm not totally sure if I'm a full Radiant yet. My spren says I have a few more truths yet, but I think I'm pretty far along... Anyway, please consider my rewuest, I would love to learn more about other planets in the Cosmere. I understand that I'm capable of worldhopping, because of my connection to shadesmar, but it's a concept that I don't know much about yet.

I always daydream when I'm bored, and recently I've been imagining myself as a seventeen-year-old darkeyed girl named Lelial, who lives at the SP. My mother is a lighteyed lady in Sebarial's camp, but my father is darkeyed. My mother hoped I would turn out to be lighteyed, but when I didn't, she decided she wanted nothing to do with me or my father. I was raised by my dad, but to him I was basically a dark reminder of my mother, and he abandoned me to live on the streets. A tavern owner took me in for a while, and he and his wife turned out to play the role of parents to me. Through them, I learned of the Ghostbloods, who had been giving them trouble recently for reasons they wouldn't disclose to me. Before I had spent two years with my new family, they somehow angered the Ghostbloods, and were disposed of by the ruthless group, leaving me on the streets again. Ever since then, I've been gaining as much information against the Ghostbloods as I can, and using it to cause trouble for them. A few months ago, I bonded with a cryptic (he can't remember his name, but I call him buzz--real creative, I know). I've gotten pretty good with Lightweaving, but use my access to Shadesmar minimally. I was part of Sebarial's retinue onto the SP during the Weeping, and I managed to make it to Urithiru with the remaining soldiers. I've heard some rumors about another Lightwever, a lighteyes close to the the Kholin house, but information has been slow to get around lately, even within Urithiru. I'm still trying to decide if I would be able to hurt the Ghostbloods more if I reveal myself to be a Surgebinder, thereby getting power writhin the KR, or if I should continue my undercover work.

I agree that it's probably Jasnah, but I certainly did not imagine her with bangs. About her safehand, it does say in the epilogue of WoR that she had "sewn herself a glove out of something improvised" but also that her clothing was in tatters and her face burned. Based on that, she's probably not going to care much of her glove gets ripped. Of course, she could have Elsecalled or somehow traveled somewhere where safehands are often uncovered.

Thanks! Who doesn't like a good cookie, am I right (especially when they don't contain anything other than perfectly honest, yummy ingredients).

Oh, that makes sense. Well, regardless, I love her character. Thanks for the tip!

I agree about the theme song. I feel like in the comics she is called MJ as a nickname, but Zendaya's character is obviously very different from the original. Completely random side question of a new Sharder: how do you only quote part of a previous comment, rather than the whole thing?

*minor spoilers* I loved it too. I'm not a huge Marvel fan, but I don't dislike their movies either. I really like Peter Parker's character, and his humor, and I liked how Tom Holland portrayed him. I think Zendaya is going to have a bigger part in the movies yet to come, now that Liz is out of the way, because Mary Jane is Peter's love interest in the comics. I saw the after-credit scene, and I'm glad I did, because the conflict it clears up is pretty important. I read an article about how some people were really annoyed that Mary Jane is being played by Zendaya, simply because she's black. Ugh, people. She's a good actor, live with it. Anyway, that was a mini-rant. Suffice to say, I loved the movie.

Books, Movies and Show You Did Not Like
Contessa replied to Draginon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I've gotten to a place where I can almost just feel slight amusement when I think of the Last Airbender movie. Almost. Mostly I just re-watch the show and attempt to forget about the movie. The Honest Trailer also helps it become a joke instead of a source of great woe. The Percy Jackson movies... Ugh. -
All of these topics are super interesting, but I feel a little behind so I'm going back a ways in the conversation... When I first read the end of WoK, and the parts about picking a Champion, I assumed it was because "Honor is dead" and therefore could no longer fight Odium himself. If that were the case, then obviously Odium wouldn't need a Champion in the first place, and the whole thing about one person being the Champion for both Shards would be completely inconsequential (is that the right word? I mean there would be no need for two Champions because Odium is still kicking' around). All this being said, I am woefully behind in regard to all theories and some simple facts (I'm quite new here) so I'm just trying to catch up...

Hi! This is my whopping second day looking around, and I have basically no experience on any sort of forum (sheltered thirteen-year-old talking). I do, however, insanely love the Cosmere (unsurprisingly, I suppose, considering where I am) especially the Stormlight Archive. I have yet to read White Sand, but other than that I think I'm about caught up. I'm super excited to be part of this, and to poke around some more!

Yes read Percy Jackson! It's... different from Cosmere stuff, obviously (there's nothing like a good Cosmere book), but the books are SO different from the movies. Different storyline entirely. Anyway, I think we can all agree Vin is amazing. The Stormlight Archive is insanely good. My personal favorite series. It was also my first Brandon book, which simply meant I didn't pick up on the easter eggs until I went back and read Warbreaker. It's good either way. And besides, you're most likely going to want to re-read SA a million times anyway (I know I did/still do).
