We don't really know what a Sho Del is and what they can do. Whatever they are being one alone put Ambition at the top of the list for whatever reason. I just hope we get the reasoning of Odium's list in Dragonsteel.

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Draginon replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well I haven't gotten to Oathbringer yet so I don't know what his personality is like yet, but we do know that Odium has a hit list and for all we know Autonomy might be at the bottom and since he's more or less stuck on the Roshar system how much of the other Shards would he really know about, especially if they changed. Harmony I can counter on what I just said by saying that the impact of someone ascending probably is felt everywhere at once if you know what to look for and since Odium was there at the Shattering... Also she doesn't have to wait for him to take out the other ~10 Shards for her, just enough that there's a couple left before she shanks him so to speak. -
Wel Austre is most likely fictional but could've been based off of Endowment herself, the founders just getting her gender wrong or purposely changing it because of how in the real world women weren't highly regarded so maybe the same happened on Nalthis as well. As for Almighty vs Honor from what I remember in WOK and WOR he doesn't seem to care how the Rosharan's interpreted him, just as long as they honored him in their own way, so he probably encouraged them to make their own mythology about him.

I just think of it more the Vessel being bad and how they twisted the intent, like how Rayse was already considered a bad person before getting Odium, so what would happen if someone even worse than Rayse became a Shard as well and the intent just brought the worst part of them to the forefront, since Rayse could've had some nice moments but the intent 'suppressed' his nice qualities. @Fanghur Rahl On a Lovecraft world: Now that would be a scary world. There'd probably be lots of body horror involved with that investiture and could you imagine it being combined with hemalurgy and Dahkor? Maybe I hat Shard would be called Horror or something.

Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Draginon replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's almost interesting trying to figure out which characters could realistically be around for the events of Era 4. -
You know I'm almost hoping there's another 'evil' Shard since it seems weird that there's so few negative intents, and if Odium is going to die somewhere in Stormlight then there needs to be one more bad Shard out there causing trouble. Maybe this Shard could be Pride since that's the worst of the seven sins and if the Vessel was more on the negative side to begin with then Pride would lean more towards the sin side.

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Draginon replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If she's using the logic of 'Get off my lawn you whippersnappers!' and thinks an autonomous region only needs one overseer. Also since she is making avatars, maybe to replace the Shards?, she can still have a ruler for each planet. If she's keeping her body on Taldain, using most of her power to keep others off Taldain and using power to make her avatars I doubt she'd be powerful enough to actually 'fight' off the others hence teaming up with Odium out of convenience but with the intend of backstabbing him when he's weakened himself 'killing' the other Shards. -
XD Reading that last part I had the mental image of someone saying they live in Vax's Crack! In a serious tone if we go that route maybe Vax is similar to Ego from Marvel since he's both. Maybe to explain it there could be an investiture from Vax that 'fuses' the residents with stuff from the planet and Vax just happened to fuse with the planet itself.

Who knows maybe Austre was at one point but after many generations things changed to the point that the Austre at the time of Warbreaker technically isn't Endowment (sort of like how Buddha the man and the religious Buddha aren't the same)

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Draginon replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I had to look up the definition of autonomy and one is 'a self-governing country or region' and one way to explain Autonomy's 'off' behavior is this: if all planets are considered one region it wouldn't go against her behavior at all and if she considers the whole of the Cosmere her autonomous region then the other Shards are the intruders and transgressors and her closing off Taldain would be more 'my body is there, I must prevent assassination attempts on my person' than anything in this situation -
Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Draginon replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
And that's why I followed up with a "how can we have a crossover with so few characters still alive by then?" line of thinking. I mean Hoid is still a bit of a wild card so we can't say for sure what his role at that time will be but with others like Khriss and Nazh what roles would they realistically have? Nazh I guess could be some kind of navigator and Khriss being a 'commander' by figuring out how to counter the investiture being used by the enemy but would those two involve themselves in the conflict of the story? I doubt they'd involve themselves outside of if they happened to get caught up in the whole mess. -
I would say all the gods of each planet were based off of the Shards, some more direct than others. Taking Austre and Endowment into consideration from @Fanghur Rahl I'd say the color thing was inspired by her but everything else was made up to explain her influence, so it's not as clear-cut as "this god is obviously this Shard" and more the natives interpreting what they see of the Shard's influence since some are less involved than others.

Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Draginon replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Ripheus23 I did think of that at one point why Mistborn ends the story instead of having a final Avengers story but when you think about it how many of the characters we know will be there? Hoid, Khriss and Nazh are the ones that we know for sure should be there (Hoid because of WOB, Khriss and Nazh because of the stuff from AU) but when you think about it would Vin, Kaladin, Raoden, Shai, Silence, Wax and all the other characters we follow be there? Who knows, maybe our 'Avengers' team in Era 4 will consist of one person per planet (Hoid/Yolen, Khriss/Taldain, Nazh/Threnody) while the 'main' character will be the Scadrian of the group? -
That would be nice though I'd imagine it'll be a book written in between a Stormlight Cycle 2 book since Brandon would still have to figure which story to tell, unless he tells both in a parallel story (that would be interesting to read a chapter showing how the Evil came followed by the returning team fixing the problem from the past chapter), and I'd think since Elantris 2 and Nightblood have been gestating longer he knows where those are going much better.

Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Draginon replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think it's going to be considered a Mistborn story because of the majority of the main characters in book 1. I take the view that a series in the Cosmere is dictated by the main players, not the planet since it would seem SA would have to include Braize at some point, since we're getting more and more into having crossover POV's, so a Mistborn book has to be majority Scadrian (and if The Ones Above refers to a Scadrian Empire then if multiple planets are part of it like Roshar and Sel then technically everyone would be 'Scadrian'), an Elantris book has to be majority Sel, a Stormlight book is majority Rosharan, etc... -
When Vax is mentioned in the AA it seems to imply it is a planet, but with that WOB there's something off here. What if it's a place caught in a weird spot of space that puts it on all three realms at once, meaning it could be anything from a country to a planet or even a location from the Cognitive or Spiritual realms that somehow got pulled into the Physical, which would technically not be a planet in the traditional sense.

Maybe we're lucky Ruin and Odium weren't fused, could you imagine what those two would do together? @Spoolofwhool That was interesting to read on how Rithmatist would've connected to Cosmere if it had stayed. I wonder if it would've been easier to change the name of the planet and other locations to something more Cosmere than just pulling it away from there. Heck it would be hilarious if in the sequel, since it would be going to the South America equivalent, the heroes found a reference in a temple or something mentioning the Cosmere and them pulling the planet out of it to someplace safer, mostly having this be a fun Easter egg similar to the Cosmere references in Alcatraz.

Seeing as the fan base is international I'm sure we each have something about our countries that we dislike or don't get why it's a thing. You can also include your state, province, department, administrative district, etc... if you want. Here's mine: I don't get why Texas makes a big deal over high school football. I thought of this because there was a radio ad for a high school football game and all I could think was "Why would anyone care about that unless you're a parent of a student at that game?" I don't like the way the country treats sports as a whole as more important than anything (in other countries the highest paid job is something important like education, police, firefighter but in about 45 states a sports coach is the highest paid job) I don't like how so many here refuse to leave their state at all. You have no idea how many Texans I've met were proud of that and acting like the other states are foreign nations. Considering I live in the Dallas area, which is close to Oklahoma and Louisiana, that's saying something since it would be like someone in Copenhagen being proud of never visiting any other European nation. I don't like how right now people just don't like the 'straw ban' since I'm someone who never really liked using straws when I'm sitting, I only like them when I'm on the move or in the car. I don't like the superiority complex the whole country has since I don't think we're the greatest nation at all.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird
Draginon replied to marsoupial's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
My mom wants to go to the movies tomorrow but it's the situation where what she wants to see is something I'm not interested in and I'm trying to figure out what to see but nothing ever matches up because runtimes are different and the times means one of us will be waiting around no matter what. Then there's the fact that depending on the theater hers starts as late as 3:30 at the earliest! I hate it when movie interests don't line up (as in there's a movie I want to see and one she wants to see) or almost line up (one comes out and the others film is on its last legs and only shown at night) -
@Weltall & @Calderis Elantris 2 is the one I'd want most, heck I could see the Cosmere schedule go W&W4, Stormlight 4, Elantris 2, Stormlight 5, Elantris 3, Mistborn Era 3 and if I included non-Cosmere it could go W&W4, Stormlight 4, Skyward 3 (if he doesn't get to it before W&W4 he can do this while the finishing touches are being made on SA4 from Tor), Elantris 2, AG1 or Alcatraz (depending if Wells finishes figuring that out), Stormlight 5, Elantris 3 (during the finishing touches of SA5), Nightblood, Mistborn 3.1. I'd love to see Rithmatist 2 somewhere in there but it could be something to hold us over in between Era 3 books. Also since Elantris 2 is supposed to be a decade later it would've been nice if Brandon had written that for the 10th anniversary and then whenever E3 takes place after he could've written it at that time.

If you're asking me I found the info on Random Houses website on the page for Skyward

I recently read the archive questions from JordanCon 2018 and one was Brandon giving a rough timeline of the order for Cosmere books with one of two books for the break between Stormlight 4 & 5. I decided to make a poll to see which you guys would rather see.

I finished my reread of Elantris, though this was the 10th anniversary edition so a nice refresher for reading the new Ars Arcanum and the Hoid scene. My thoughts: Still love Raoden and Sarene. Those two are great together and I love their intuitions. Still don't care as much for Hrathen but I understand him more on this read. Dilaf is still a horrid person to read. I don't know which is worse for the Cosmere: Hemalurgy or Dahkor's magic Reading the AA it's interesting how Khriss knows less about the mechanics of Dor than other Investitures. Hopefully she finds out more once The Sequel of Elantris and The Finale of Elantris come. I think it would be funny if Brandon managed to put Eton into the sequel since it would be great to have a random character appear to mess with the main characters. I do have one thing I wondered about in regards to AonDor Next up is The Bands of Mourning

Watched the 25th anniversary episode of Power Rangers. The one thing I can say is "Yikes that was rushed to heck!" They took what could've been an hour long episode and crammed it into 20 minutes after commercials. Everything comes so fast the actors barely have time to say their lines, especially with the veterans. For comparison it would be like cramming all of the Mistborn Era 1 trilogy into one book the size of Secret History, that's how rushed it was. Hopefully Hasbro does better with the 30th anniversary than Saban did with the 20th and 25th.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird
Draginon replied to marsoupial's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Been watching some Star Wars videos lately. Geez Kennedy sure is toxic and unappreciative of the fans, well the male side of it. I mean I don't think it's a good idea to insult the men when they make up the vast majority of your revenue and because of that they are fighting back against the series first with Solo (I never planned on seeing it in the first place since the anthology films just sounded meh to me) and now with Resistance (getting close to a million dislikes apparently) with some talk of boycotting Episode 9 as well. Even Disney is dissatisfied with her to the point of wanting someone else in charge of Lucasfilms, similar in model to how Marvel and Pixar run themselves, and she keeps coming up with crem excuses like "Oh, that film was a mess because of the director" but you know who's there to make sure the director doesn't mess up? The producer and she's the producer! Also how can she blame the directors when they haven't kept them for whole projects? And the story corrector group (the folks who keep the canon in check) don't even have a clear goal according to the directors and writers since they give the people no restrictions on stories and when turning the manuscript in they can then decline it or approve it but then tell the writer 'oh and can you include this character? They're going to appear in an upcoming movie' so they have to shoehorn a character that wasn't planned at all. Also when Rian was writing the script for The Last Jedi he was surprised how much free reign he had and couldn't get a straight answer on what not to do so he spent a few weeks down the hall from the group to pitch ideas and just kept telling him 'okay!' and that's how we end up with Leia in space and the revelation about Rey's parents. If I was commissioned to write a book for Star Wars I would actually tell them 'No, you will tell me a basic idea of what you want from this story and then I'll figure out how to incorporate it' and if they wanted the manuscript first and then telling me what to shoehorn in I would rebel.
