  1. And just in case we want another source. And more specifically this paragraph:
  2. So, with that, are the two plateaus traded? Or just anything on top? Also, what happens if you are half on, half off. Do you get spliced?
  3. He has straight up said that he is toying around with a new concept for a YA story. Why can't people get that in their heads? The reason it's a mystery is because he doesn't know if the concept will work out.
  4. Well, one way you could see it, sapience is natural for mankind, and a limited use of the surges is natural for spren. The bond allows each of them to access the other's gift as limited or accented by the bond. Of course, it's probably not accurate, but I think it is still a possibility. After all, before Syl started talking she was causing mischief using the surge of adhesion, and Kaladin wasn't overly surprised. To him, it was just a particularly annoying windspren, as though windspren can use a limited form of adhesion normally.
  5. Aren't there some in-book references that make it sound like the surgebinding is done through the spren, thus that a connection between the spren and the armor would be enough for the surgebinding to be unaffected.
  6. Didn't he say it was another YA project? That cuts out Cosmere.
  7. Could it be that he wasn't so much talking about another planet as another realm? Specifically the cognitive realm?
  8. Depends on how the Shardplate is made. If it is made of spren, as seems to be a common though, then it would depend on A. whether those spren had enough sapience to morph like that, and B. if you had some way of making them all morph in unison.
  9. Problem with that is why was it offset in the first place if it's origin is the oathgate? Why wouldn't it just have formed around the oathgate? I'm guessing it actually originated in some sort of military or government building. Palace maybe?
  10. Let's be honest, if a Shard interacts directly, then unless its intent or another shard gets in the way, there aren't many things they can't change. To me it's an "of course Cultivation can change it, that is if you can ever grab her attention" situation.
  11. The way I see it, it comes from a Spren's nature as a splinter and cognitive entity. Shardblades are pure investiture, also referred to as a Godmetal. From what I can see, Nightblood is a heavily invested piece of metal with a cognitive entity attached, which wouldn't have the same shapeshifting capabilities.
  12. Well, if his guess is accurate enough, he might get a shocked response from Brandon, or other non-verbal confirmation of the theory. It wouldn't be the first time. If I remember well, that is what happened with the worldhopper in Warbreaker.
  13. Hey guys, on the whole, "Odium doesn't mean destruction" thing, keep in mind that Rayse was similar enough to Odium's intent that he isn't as limited by the intent. It hasn't changed him nearly as much as Ati and Leras were changed by their respective shard's intents. As such, I wouldn't be surprised to see Rayse keeping destruction if it aligns or is necessary for his objectives.
  14. Thanks for that. Do we have any WoBs about the aura recognition and color auras? I'm just trying to get why you have this conclusion.
  15. Can I just jump on the "Mystery Shard" boat?
  16. Still misunderstanding. Perfect Lifesense is the perk for being in the 4th Heightening. I'm talking about the 1st Heightening Perk: Aura Recognition. As for Lifesense dodging, I think either storing Identity or Connection (not sure which one it would be) might be enough to block that.
  17. I wasn't asking about Bronze sensing Breaths. I was asking about Copper masking your breaths. The 1st Heightening allows you to know exactly how much breath someone has. Would a Coppercloud block that? And would the Coppercloud hide the color aura? This isn't about bronze, this is about copper. This makes me wonder what it looks like in the CR when you are looking at a Coppercloud that exists in the PR, what the effects of burning Copper in the CR would be, and if burning copper while being in the CR would have an impact on the PR.
  18. Hey guys, so after some thinking, I'd like to know what we know about uses of Copper or Bronze in seeing, or hiding non-allomantic usage of investiture. I'm assuming that anything that can be sensed through Bronze Allomancy can be hidden from Bronze Allomancy through the use of Copper Allomancy. However, I'm wondering if anything other than Allomancy can be spotted through the use of Bronze Allomancy and if there are other signs of Investiture use that can be hidden through Copper Allomancy. Examples: - If an Awakener was under the effect of Copper Allomancy, would an Awakener of the 1st Heightening still be able to sense how many breaths he has? - If so, would having a higher Heightening allow you to eventually overcome the Copper Allomancy? - Would Copper Allomancy hide the color aura of an Awakener? - Would you be able to sense the use of AonDor through Bronze Allomancy? - What about Forgery, Dakhor, Sandmastery, or Surgebinding? - Is there a fabrial the would allow you to sense Surgebinding? Would Copper Allomancy counter it? - Would Copper Allomancy negate the effects of a proximity fabrial? - Is there an Aon that would mimic the effects of Bronze Allomancy? Would Copper Allomancy counter it? - Is there an Aon that would mimic the effects of Copper Allomancy? Would it block Bronze Allomancy? - Would these Aons only work on seeing the use of other Aons? Or would they work on other magic systems? I realize that some of these have probably already been answered, though I don't remember seeing any WoBs myself. So if you know of any WoBs on the subject, please post them here.
  19. Yea, Hoid mentions one of the Heightenings in WoK as well. As for the color aura, I have a couple of ideas, one of which might have to do with his lightweaving (the non-roshar kind), another having to do with suppressing breath, and a third about burning Copper.
  20. My theory: He got an idea for a story around one of the Shards we haven't seen yet and wants to try doing a rough draft of the world, story, and magic before putting up anything about it. The point of a "Mystery Project" as a name, is that A. if he were to put up an actual title, that would raise a ton of hype, and then if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be good, and B. it might still be in a state of flux where he doesn't have nearly enough yet to give the project a proper name.
  21. Um, my understanding was actually that they could store calories, not necessarily vitamins.
  22. Well, part of the problem I see if Connection. You can change your past, but you might not be able to change where you are from, etc. In the end, if it was impossible for you to have ever gained a power, then I don't think you could use Forgery to give it to yourself. You can't rewrite your past into having been born on Taldain as a child of a Sand Master for example.
  23. Um, don't we have a WoB saying that breath exists in the physical realm, which is why you can't spike it? Divine Breath, however, would make sense as a Spiritual element.
  24. I think this might be a form of savanthood, where burning a metal, or tapping a metalmind might become so seconds nature that you do it as naturally as breathing while you sleep. I don't think you can store, but that doesn't mean you can't tap while sleeping. And I suspect that Wakefulness probably works with similarities with Age, where you start to get diminishing returns, so it would be worth sleeping every now and then.
  25. Wanna work together Overstorm?
