  1. I'd think "queer" would never be a good term in any good discussion about homosexuality, seeing as it's extremely offensive. EDIT: Those tricksy apostrophes...
  2. I saw a new post in this thread and thought "more updates on the Mistborn Movie?" I was disappointed for a moment, but now I'm back on wondering about Rosharian Tide Patterns, which would also be a sweet name for a band.
  3. I'd like to see more exploration of the different types of demons and the powers they have. I wonder if each one has a totally unique power if there are groups that all have the same one...
  4. Maybe Brandon just really likes the name and so uses them for when he needs something to happen to a house...
  5. A website error has prevented me from upvoting this post, so I must reward you on breaking me as well. Perhaps that's not a behavior that ought to be encouraged. EDIT: Also, "I AM GOING TO EAT MY CURTAINS NOW AND CRY ON THE FLOOR" is basically my instinctive reflex to everything.
  6. I am well aware of that. The implication was that such a process would not be actual metallurgy, but something else entirely related to directly manipulating Shardic power.
  7. I think that now that Harmony is holding both Ruin and Preservation, they can be alloyed together. Or it can't be alloyed by normal means, but by doing some kind of Shardy hocus pocus they can both be part of a process that consumes both the metals and produces Harmony's metal?
  8. Yeah, I thought that Mistrwraiths procreate, but the Kandra don't.
  9. Based on this quote, many Sharders have been thinking that there is a metal, that some call "Sazedium", that is an alloy of Lerasium and Atium.
  10. Is this Word of God? I mean, Ranette does sort of seem like the stereotypical lesbian character, but I wouldn't like to assume that just because of a cultural stereotype.
  11. I suppose they signed NDA's... Which explains why no one has heard of it till now.
  12. Also The Emperor's Soul and Legion, right?
  13. This seems to indicate there was information previously given that designated how Lerasium creating Mistborn is a "side effect", but I couldn't find a quote that actually said that outright. Does this mean that becoming a Mistborn is a "side effect" of the increased connection to Preservation or that the increased connection to Preservation is a "side effect" to Lerasium's primary effect?
  14. 1) Edit your original post instead of double-posting 2) You is right.
  15. You just wrinkled my brain...
  16. I've done that before. I wish there was someway to undo that.
  17. It's also 16*64, or 4*16^2.
  18. In Soviet Scadrial...
  19. I think you mean "typical"... anyway, essentially all of the Shards are emotions or human attributes. I think that where you're coming from is that the power of Creation should be the power of the Platonic elements. The reason I believe that Adnolasium could be some sort of creation power is as follows: Think of the way Preservation and Ruin acted when blended. Their intents became less focused and Harony had a great deal more versatility with that power, allowing for preserving and ruining. Imagine the result of all sixteen Shards converged. It seems to me that all Shardic intent would be cancelled out, leaving a mass of raw, incredibly versatile power. However, there is no proof either way, as far as I am aware. Unless we know more about the Shattering of Adnolasium or Adnolasium itself, we can't really say.
  20. The concept of the drawing is fine with me (a man with all dem peoples behind him) but the way it's drawn just makes it look, I dunno, ugly. And all that white space makes it feel really, really empty.
  21. To be fair, the same principle of Shardic radiation works when centered around Arelon, since that area of Devotion's power appears to be anchored there. Essentially, people from anywhere (other planets/areas of Sel) will be affected in the same way.
  22. The Free Kingdoms? Also, a lot more goes into the production of fiber optic wires than just melting sand down in the right way. I'm not sure what you mean by "cars will probably be made for ceramics or titanium. Dirt and sand are about the cheapest things imaginable". Titanium is not "dirt" or "sand", it's an incredibly rare, very expensive metal. Gold was still valuable in AoL. Not as valuable as rare-earth metals like Cadium, but that's how it is in real life. Gold is way, way, way rarer than copper. Also, gold melts a lot easier. Cars wouldn't be made of ceramics for the same reason they aren't today: ceramics are too brittle and don't have a high impact tolerance. Limelights aren't made from quicklime and water; you have to heat the quicklime up quite a bit for it to work. It's exceedingly inefficient compared to electric lights, which is why we don't use limelights anymore. I guess my point is is that not a lot of things will necessarily be different from ours except when Allomancy has a noticeable effect on the culture... Such as streetcars. I believe that streetcars can easily be pushed/pulled by mistings, which makes them more efficient than cars. We've already seen the introduction of cars in the broadsheets of AoL.
  23. Why can't Honor be part of Creation? In Sanderson's world, Honor is simply the binding of two things together.
  24. They were going to have Taylor Swift play Epionine earlier in the production... but they replaced her later, much to the rejoicing of Les Mis fans everywhere.
  25. If Rayse was human, or at least had a human-like character, I doubt he was as all-hate, all-the-time as Odium. There are always reasons that despicable people are despicable. Anyway, it probably ain't so. But maybe...
