A Tin misting/Copper ferring plus a Zinc compounder would make a great crime solving duo. One of them can observe and perfectly remember all the necessary details, write them down for their partner who then uses super mental speed to analyze and deduce the answers from the facts at hand. I can see it now: TWINKEYE AND ZINCY: CRIME FIGHTERS Of course, this also gives great options for CSI: Luthadel, and its spinoffs CSI: Elend and CSI: Roughs.

If Harmony could fuel the basic attributes of the unspiked, then there would be very little reason for such importance being placed on Wax's earring, nor for Brandon to state the earring had some sort of Hemalurgic charge.

Yeah, if Adonalsium is repaired, that means that all the Shards are re absorbed into a whole. That means no more allomancy, which would cause Scadrial's economy to practically collapse. Not to mention no more Shardblades, no more Breath, no more Seons on Aon Dor, etc.
-
I've given some thought to this, as we see a similar thing happening in Mistborn. Scadrial was an earthlike planet until TLR made the Ashmounts, etc. I like to think that this is just the way Roshar is, because that opens up an avenue for other Shardplanets to have all sorts of funky stuff going down.

Should we be suspicious of Renarin?
Commander Spoonface replied to Wgblood's topic in Stormlight Archive
If the "bloodsickness" is anything like real diseases of the blood, it deals with a problem in the marrow, or the part of the body that produces blood. Soulcasting might be able to temporarily strengthen him (unlikely, though) but soon his own blood would flush the soulcast blood out of his body over the course of about a month. Additionally, Renarin has been living his whole life with some kind of blood ailment, so at this point he probably has weak muscles, and perhaps a number of other diseases. In the Way of Kings, Dalinar mentions that Renarin has "fits", which probably means he has epilepsy as well. All in all, if his blood being "off" was the only problem, he wouldn't need Shardplate to function. -
Hmmmm.... I can't remember, does Way of Kings mention Hoid having a beard of any sort? Cause if it's a goatee, I'm totally with you on this.

Ruin can probably fuel Hemalurgy, though it can also fuel Allomancy. Not sure how that works.

We already know that a hemalurgic spike can be hammered through multiple people before being spiked into the target. That's how they make inquisitors, after all. Since the spike was taken from an inquisitor and spiked into Wax, it would be just like the spike was hammered through several people, on through the Inquisitor and into him. Of course, there is a significant gap in between the inquisitor and Wax, during which Hemalurgic decay would take place. He wouldn't get all of the Inquisitor's powers, just whatever that spike steals.

This theory is based partially on observations from my reading and mostly on my own cognitive (and possibly spiritual) processes. The central idea of this theory is that Seons are the body of Devotion in much the same way that Atium is the body of Ruin and the mists are the body of Preservation. In order to support this, I propose: 1) Humans make up a small part of the bodies of Preservation and Ruin, as well as being endowed with the majority of Preservation's cognitive aspect. 2) If a shard splits off part of its cognitive aspect, parts of its body can gain sentience. 3) The sentient parts of a shard's body tend to work towards the intent of that shard. If they are endowed with aspects from multiple shards, all bets are off. 4) A shard can consciously choose to break off parts of itself to bestow sentience on specific parts of its body. 5) When a shardholder is killed, all parts of the shards body gain a measure of its sentience. I'm going to examine how these assumptions hold true in multiple cases. First, in Mistborn: Most of Preservation's cognitive aspect had already been given away to humans. Humans, however, are not wholly of Preservation and therefore do not necessarily hold to its intent. Preservation still held some sentience, and was able to give this to parts of it body, thus creating the "mist spirit" that Vin sees. Ruin still retains all of its sentience, so Atium remains non sentient. Elantris: We know that there were no Seons before Odium came to Sel and killed Aona and Skai (Word of Brandon). I propose that the Seons did exist, though in a wholly different form. What was to become the Seons, Proto-Seons if you will, was the physical aspect of Aona's body. Upon Aona's death, its cognitive aspect was dispersed throughout its body, thus giving sentience to what had become Seons. Seons act toward the intent of their shard, that being Devotion. Seons bond to people and work for them, thus devoting their lives to a person. Though not much is known about the Skaze, I believe they work in a similar way, and that in order to obtain their help a person must be Dominated by them somehow, so that they work in alignment with Domination. Stormlight Archives: Spren also act towards their shard's intent. Honor is the power of binding things together. In The Way of Kings, the question is often asked about whether Spren cause various things (such as infection) or are attracted to them. I propose that they bind to things that they have a natural affinity with. The question of Honorspren and Truthspren (or Symbolspren) is a little bit trickier. We can assume that most spren are non-sentient, merely acting in accordance with the intent of their shard. It is clear, however, that Honorspren can be as sentient as humans, as in the case of Syl, and that Truthspren are also significantly more sentient than regular spren. Why? I hold with the theory proposed in this thread, that Honor is split into ten parts. I propose that these ten parts give power to the ten heralds, and give sentience to the spren that bind with the ten corresponding orders of the Knights Radiant. Now that Honor is dead, it is unclear if regular spren will start to gain sentience (to a lesser degree than Seons as the ten types of Radiant spren have some) or if the ten sentient spren types with hold on to all of Honor's cognitive aspect. Warbreaker: I have honestly no idea. We know that there are waffles in the Final Empire (word of Brandon) so perhaps they exist on Nalthis as well. And what endows more deliciousness than waffles?

Theory: The Parshmen are NOT Voidbringers
Commander Spoonface replied to pmj812's topic in Stormlight Archive
Honor dies the first time Odium comes after the Oathpact is broken. Maybe, as suggested in this thread, the Ten Heralds are the holders of various parts of Honor's shard. When the Oathpact is whole, Honor's shard is bound together and can be wielded by the shardbearer, the Almighty. Because the Oathpact is broken, the Almighty's power is reduced, and can be killed by Odium when he comes back to Roshar for "the true desolation". Also, I got the impression that the visions Dalinar received were like some sort of prerecorded message. Like voicemail: "I'm sorry, but Honor is currently dead. If you need to fight Odium, try getting him to appoint a champion. If you need to unite the Alethi Highprinces, please contact Dalinar Kholin. If you need someone killed, please contact Szeth-son-son-Vallano. If you need someone to stare at a lighteyes really angrily, contact Kalidan Stormblessed. Thank you for your patience."- 153 replies

I may or may not exist
Commander Spoonface replied to Commander Spoonface's topic in Introduce Yourself!
That would be existing in a superposition of death and life. But I will not confirm or deny that I am a zombie. -
A hemalurgic spike loses energy the longer it's not in a body, right? So Wax is gaining whatever power he has from not only the person who the spike was hammered through to make the Inquisitor, but also the inquisitor itself. We don't know the rate of hemalurgic decay, but I don't think it matters what kind of spike it is. After all, Harmony can fuel of the metallic arts, right? So as long as Wax is wearing his earring he can receive boosts of power from Harmony.

I don't know exactly where I could find a citation, but I seem to remember someone in these forums saying Brandon had confirmed Wax's earrings were hemalurgic spikes.

1)Why would it be atypical of Feruchemy? As far as I remember, (though I admit my memory can be an untrustworthy source) we've never seen that storing attributes always has an exactly opposite effect to tapping them. 2)Proportionally doesn't necessarily mean 1 to 1. If it increases at a lower rate, say a 75% increase of strength for a 100% increase of weight, Wax would still have enough strength not to be crushed and raise his arms, but also feel the excess weight. If the ratio works like that, then at some point an Iron ferring might be able to tap enough weight to crush themselves, though I suspect it might need to be an iron compounder to achieve that result. I think you're right about the first part, though. It wouldn't really make sense. To explain Wax's Foot-Lightness (a term that would be a good name for a band), think of it this way: If the rate is 3:4, then running at 75% weight=storing 25% weight, which equals a 25% of 75% strength decrease. Okay, that didn't make a lot of sense. For simplicity's sake, let's say that Wax weighs 100 AHU's (Arbitrary Hypothetical Units), and that his strength can be measured in 100 EAHU (Extremely Arbitrary Hypothetical Units). When he's storing 25% weight, he weighs 75 AHU's. Assuming a proportion of 3:4, that means his strength is being decreased by 75% of 25, or 18.75 EAHU's. So Wax still has 81.25% of his strength. Overall, his strength has decreased noticeably less than his weight, meaning Wax's Foot-Lightness is preserved. As Wax stores more weight, the discrepancy becomes even greater. Of course, the rate is probably not 3:4, if I had to guess, I'd say it's closer to 6:10. That's immaterial anyway, the "Too Long, Didn't Read" version of this post is that weight increase/decrease and proportional strength increase/decrease can be explained with a rate that's not 1:1.

The instructions of this forum area said I was to inform the community of my existence, but in order to effectively do that, I would have to define existence. Seeing as I really don't want to open that particular kettle/can/flagon of worms/issues/hypercondensced jell-o, I will just go ahead and make the following statement: I am Commander Spoonface, a strange person with a meaningless name, and I may or may not exist, depending upon your definition of existence in a philosophical sense. Also, I like tacos. Quite a bit.
-
It only mentions the proportional increase in strength when he's tapping weight. His strength doesn't necessarily decrease when he's filling his ironmind, which would allow him to be lighter on his feet while he stores weight.

Actually, I think that makes a great deal of sense. As far as I can remember, the only time we are specifically told it's either one or all is by Kelsier, who also said there are no Atium mistings, and thought that there were only ten basic allomatic metals. In the Alloy of Law we see that Feruchemy has split into abilities like Allomancy, and a lot of things have changed since the HoA. It's entirely possible that any new Mistborns could be very different from the ones we are familiar with.

Theory: Honor's Shard Shattered Like Adonalsium
Commander Spoonface replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thank you. I think the Dawnshards were also held by the Heralds- assuming that they are splinters of Honor, there aren't a whole lot of other people that might have had access to them. I think that the Honorblades are connected to the Dawnshards- for example, the breatplate of Shardplate is the focus of its energy, perhaps the Dawnshards act as some sort of power source, connecting the Honorblades directly to Honor's power. -
So there are more than 16 basic Allomantic metals?

Theory: Honor's Shard Shattered Like Adonalsium
Commander Spoonface replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm not totally certain on the usage of silver and splinter, but as I see it the Dawnshards are some part (sliver?) of Honor. I think that the Dawnshards work in a similar way to the 16 Shards of Adonalsium, in that they mold the user to their intent. That's why the ten Heralds represent the ten aspects of the Almighty; they were each molded to an aspect of Honor by the Dawnshard they carried. Those aspects are likely the Second/Third/Fourth ideals of the various orders of the Knights Radiant, e.g. "I will protect those that cannot protect themselves" is the second ideal of one of the orders, and Protection is an aspect of the almighty that is represented by one of the Heralds and their respective Dawnshard. -
If you remove the 16 alloys of "Sazium", you get 51, which is closer to the ballpark number you asked. The way you calculated it does make sense, though I think 67 is an odd number for it to come out as. I think that 64 is a more likely number, somehow, which could result from 4 groups of 16 metals. Maybe it works like this: 16 Normal Metals Atium and 15? alloys it has= 16 Lerasium+15=16 "Sazium"+15=16 16+16+16+16=64. There could be other combinations, such as: 16 Normal metals, Lerasium+16=17 Atium+16=17 16+17+17=50 Add an alloy of Lerasium and Atium and you get 51, or "nearly" 50.

Theory: Space Travel Between Shardworlds
Commander Spoonface replied to Deus Ex Biotica's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Citation needed, but I seem to remember reading that Taldain (the place that White Sand is set on and where Badavin's shard is) is quite near Roshar, and is visible in Roshar's night sky. Perhaps space travel will first develop between those two. But then again, Scadrial might already be in future-mode by the time Roshar reached the technological level we see in The Way of Kings. EDIT: It's actually the unnamed planet where The Silence Divine is set. It's on the Wiki page for Roshar, but I can't find a citation elsewhere. -
Theory: The True Nature Of The Shardworlds.
Commander Spoonface replied to Deus Ex Biotica's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Perhaps it's that when humans construct a "universe" of sorts, we naturally do it in a logical way. Thus, an advanced computer and a fictional universe may well share a number of principles, and maybe if we understood more of our own universe we could see similarities there as well.
