Words Of Radiance Back Cover Questions
.S.A.M.K.M replied to Colateralwar's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe that every one of the five will at least need to survive their book dedicated to themselves, before they die. That way if they die after, their second book can be created via flash backs. I do belive some of these five will die in the series at least. -
When the AIW comes to the shattetred plains, will he go after all the high princes or just Dalinar? I get the idea the Parshendi are waiting for blackthorn, so will they recognise him via his plate or sword? If it is the sword, one o their enemies are dealt with, while the plates means his son's death, so another reason to call for vengence, I am getting the feeling the parshman in the guard will some how learn to change? so either a spy, or being around a knight radiant awakes it. That could potentially lead to an alliance. With all the chaos, would the vorin kingdoms welcome the althethi uniting them? they might welcome shard bearers and radiant knights.

It is believed those five are the ones who will get books dedicated to them, filled with flashbacks showing their back story. -
Many believe the assassin in white is coming, seeing as he has been killing kings and high princes, will more than dalinar be at risk? That is one way to unite the country, be the last ones standing, the heirs might be more open to working together, than their fathers.

Darkness' surgebinder radar

is the sphere gavilar had a way to track surgebinders? -
THe parshman in Kaladin's crew, will be changed/ Either he gets turn in to a monster, a secret agent of the enemy or even an indiviual himself, who would be eager to help defend his friend of bridge nine. If he can become a proper person, then there is hope that kaladin can help the others change. that could help to create a peace. We know the parshendi are looking for blackthorn, but the thing is they only know what his shard plate and sword looks like, so a good chance that the bright lord with his old sword will be attacked by them next time he goes to battle.

Most dark eyes carry at least a slight resentment to the brighteyes, but they all believe that it is possible for them to rise in standing. On of the fundamentals of this, that if a dark eye defeats and takes a shard, they become a lighteye. So all dark eyes have a chance to rise. Amaram brole this covenant, he took away the shard and killed and enslaved the dark eyes there. The dream/hope of ever dark eyed warrior, the dreams of child hood of becoming a hero. And this guy took it all away. If this became widely known, then it could potentially fuel a rebellion unless amaran is properly punished. I bet Kaladin meets him at one of those soldier party, how will this guy react, a man he sent in to slavery, now the commander of the king's body guard. As a slave no might have believed him, but while officially people would doubt the story, it will cause a lot of rumors and whispers.

Half shards would allow body guards better capable in their duties. Kaladin might share his past so his boss can use the info against the bad guy. -
A Memory of Light: Hopes and Expectations
.S.A.M.K.M replied to .S.A.M.K.M's topic in The Wheel of Time
http://www.tor.com/features/series/a-memory-of-light Great link, it leads to the cover of the book, and parts of excerpts of the prologue, chapter one and eleven. It really wets the appetite for more. So the world marches to war, mat is gonna deal with the seanchan and the capital of andor is in trouble. Will the joint forces of the north give aid. -
SO Harmony has limited power, as it takes a physical piece of preservation to create an allomancer, while feruchemists were created simply by exposure to the shards power. Harmony had to have access to lots of knowledge, even forbidden stuff, so why did he not create a huge library for the people. His last remaining friends could have hidden the dangerous ones, while distributing the good knowledge. How much help was given to the back up people? Did they get a cool valley to start fresh in? THere is a feruchenical way to store magic, so potentially create metal to create mistings or ferrings? What would happen if some one ate a part of ruin magic, would it make them part Koloss?

Have we discussed Nightblood's shard-like qualities, yet?
.S.A.M.K.M replied to Pechvarry's topic in Cosmere Discussion
One day in the far future, when there is travel between the shard worlds, Nightblood will help save them from the great evil. It is a creation of magic, capable of feeding on magic so potential will absorb all shards, who ever weilds it would wield the power of adoloism. -
I thought the reason why ferrings and mistings were the norm, instead of all powers, is to ensure no lord rulers are recreated. The thing is the atium and the other god metal was created due to the detente that was created between ruin and preservation, but this time both shards were used at the same time with nothing held back. Sazed is now the mind behind both shards but their bodies may reform. The lord ruler was only unkillable as no one knew he was both mistborn and feruchemist. Now, while hard to kill, people know his weakness, if they take metal away from him, the person would be mortal. Marsh has had to have atium to survive for so long. I wonder why harmony did not make multiple mistborne as rebuilding civilisations need all the help they can get. So why reduce those with powers. Those people dumped in the south pole by the lord ruler, if they were back ups, did he store terris keepers there but simply with no knowledge or training? so no threat.
-
WHen Sazed used the power of Harmony, he healed the planet and the people. THe underground bunkers were united and he left behind a legacy. Do we really believe that in the world before the empire those under ground caves were really that close together, while the empire happened to seperate them? I wonder is like he returned the people to their original state, could he heal the terrismen so that they were no longer eunuchs? He make spook a mistborn, why not make all mistings and skaa mistborn? It is the power of feruchemistry and allomancy combined which could make immortals. THis is why he make it so all metal arts only used only one now? The thing is what with them basicly restarting, they would need help refounding civiliisation. We know that as the shard holder he had a host of knowledge, why did he he not make books of those to go with his collection? The full knowledge of the three metal arts would ensure alot of advances. THe other holder of shards had to know more, so why not share their knowledge as well. THe lord ruler created plants and microbes that made the vulcano areas more habital, would sazed have seed these forms of life near other vulcanoes that occured, to ensure they act as rememberance for the poor lord ruler? Did any kandra or mistwraith survive? they were cave dwellers so potetnial there? Did sazed heal them or eliminate them? If the koloss were preserved, why not he mistraiths and their sentient cousins?

The survivor told vin that if she attempted to burn metals that were not the acknowledged allomantic metals, it would kill her. I was wondering why would some metals kill, this worlds magic are based in metals, sure different metal have different powers, but why would they kill. This made me think that they simply did not know how to burn it. There is a godmetal that makes mistborns, but when alloyed with the allomantic metals it creates mistings. THis makes me think that is a person burns an alloy of the god metal with one of the killer metals, an type of misting and a new form of power would be created.

So it seems we all believe that the thrones of Idris and Hallendren will be united, the kingdoms of Kuth and Huth were said to have fallen during the many war, so would be ideal targets of further expansion, assuming these lands are on the new border.
-
That wealth of breath, did they actually need it in the end, I though bone kept the breath used to awaken it? I bet the God King converts to Austere, he does live in a solid black palace. Hallandren is a very valuable location and kingdom, so those trying to attain power in Kuth and Huth, would want it for themselves. The area sounds to be in trouble, it seems that Kalad phantoms could easily help them take over the area eventually. WHat other countries were involved in the many war might cause trouble?
-
Breath can only be given to another freely. There is only one exception, Nightblood can take the breath from anything. What would divine breath do to Nightblood? If divine breath are splinters of a shard, could the sword be a means to wield the power of the shard?

THe capital cities of Thaylen and Jah Keved are dawn cities so very likely to have oath gates. Due to the chaos of the assasination nations accross Roshar are in trouble. Vorin kingdoms believe in the might of bright eyes and warriors. Everyone will know dalinar is the enemy ofthe shin assasin. If they can send an army to the capital cities of thses kingdoms, then they are sure to aceept them for the order they give. If the capital cities are taken, likely the rest of the kingdom would follow. If they hear of the soulcasters and radiant knights, the vorin people would be especially welcoming.
-
That was before the introduction of thr ruin god metal. That would bestow full ruin powers on the eater, just like harmony metal gives allomancy and preservation metal with ferochemists.
-
There are likly four oath gates in this region. THe king of the blood letters had most of those incharge removed. The religion of the vorin venerate the warriors of the land. If dalinar can move his army quicklu through the gates, he could strike in the confusion and assume control. THat would increase the number of shard wielders, if they give a deal to them. vorin renerates the light eyes, so an army of them restoring order would actually not be that opposed.
-
Originally using allomancers and their blood to create steel inquistors and others, created the creatures who can be influenced by ruin. Now, eating the ruin metal form you gain the power of ruin without having to get spikes. So the koloss can propergate similar to mistings, due to this. I wonder if the kandra or steel inquisitor propergated. Also if it is possible to force ruin arts on someone, can preservation arts be forced on a person, a ferochemical version of steel inquisitors.

In mist triolgy, the power of the shards are accessed by metals. In elantris, power is accessed through symbols. So in WOK, it stands to reason while the shards are different, they too would work in a similar maner. They are all dependant on gemstones to store shard energy, or they have their own form of stormlight nor gemstonees?
