Great sig, I like the reference to outside authors, and how it's one that gives a good life lesson--treasure memories of important things and try to remember the important information that you can. I think that's what it means; I'm not sure though.

I want to say, I support this thread and such. I don't have any mental health challenges, but my older brother has depression, and has had it for the last two or three years. During this time, I learned a few things about mental illness, and I realized how similar it is to physical health--in that there can be small and huge problems that can persist for a while. This is a good thread; I want this to stay up near the top of the Recent threads.

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Alright, here's my megapost: This game was a load of fun. I got to play as an eliminator and conspire with the other ones, and learned how to really hide. I slipped up a lot, such as being too sure in my "reads" and knowing that there were 4 Jeskeri; after Dalinar Kholin died, I thought, "this is where the fun begins." I really think I started to act suspicious, with one slip-up that I reacted to in the doc, on Day 6. I made a lot of “assumptions” about the number of Jeskeri, and kept referring to them as a village kill in the hopes that, if I were found to be Jeskeri, I could work with the village to depose of the Derethi before getting killed the Day phase afterwards. About the time there weren’t any kills—now, this is the funniest part of the whole game. I broke (or bent) so many rules this game; I counted roughly, and I think I got 6 warnings and reminders from the GM’s and IM, Orlok Tsubodai. I had mentioned I’d edit a post, and was reminded that editing, other than for formatting, was forbidden. At the time I thought I would do the edit promptly enough that no meaning could be changed after people had already assumed the original meaning, but I never post in a timely manner. Another time, I said I’d PM someone after the timer was extended, and Orlok said that the rollover extension was only for discussion. Another time, on the last Day phase, I brought the game up in the Sanderson Elimination Discord general channel, and was reminded by Elbereth that this wasn’t allowed. The rest weren’t really rulebreaks, and by this point you may be wondering what all this has to do with the Elantrian scan. Ok, so I had been inactive that Night phase, enough that I forgot to send in a kill. Herowannabe sent me a message asking whether I would send in a kill, and I said something like “Oh! Yeah, ok, here’s my kill.” Then, Orlok mentioned in the PM that this was GM interference, so my kill would not be counted. Then, I was like “Ok, makes sense. I mean, it’s just one more Night phase.” Oh, I had no idea that the Elantrians were scanning me that night. I was incredibly lucky, is all. When I saw your analysis, Cadmium, I was just astounded at how right, and how wrong, the reasons for lynching me were. That was a great accusation, by the way. And that pretty much sums it up! Great game everybody, especially Steel and Elenion. The Derethi faction came extremely close to winning. Great catch on the Elantrian scan, Cadmium. You won this game 1 to 4 cycles early. Great GMing and IMing, Herowannabe, Fifth Scholar, Elbereth, and Orlok Tsubodai. See you guys next game. I'm definitely going to read the rules again, more carefully, and scour the rules for each game I'm participating in. A couple of the mistakes I made weren't because of explicitly-laid-out game rules, but I did forget a lot of rules that I ended up not breaking because of my playing style. Sorry to the GM's for doing so much of that stuff. Thanks for keeping me in the right way to play.- 1185 replies

Alright, I'll join for sure. Good thing LG44 ended literally the day before this one starts! Copy-pasted from earlier in the thread is my character info: I'm going to play as Torden, a Misting whose studies of water and steam made him give himself the honorary title of Blank Misting. However, he might also have Allomantic powers granted by Snapping via a steam explosion that occurs at the start of the game. Like, exactly at the start. He wakes up, nearly dead, but recovers. Allomantic powers somehow get discovered instantly, if he has them, because he has a lot of metal around him at most times. Metal pipes hold pressurized water much more easily than glass, he would think, remembering a day where he finally remembered to wear protective eyegear and avoided becoming a Glass Inquisitor.

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That was an amazing writeup. I’ve got lots to say about this game. My summary—it was loads of fun. I’m on mobile, with little battery, so I’ll post again after the next few people. Thanks for an amazing game, Hero! I interpreted “grandiose” to mean proud of personality, rather than language itself. First time as an elim, too. That was exciting, though I think I’ll still say I have a full villager record since it was Honey Badger who got the role. Thanks to them, too. This required a lot of activity, so I’m glad this elim team could give its best.- 1185 replies

Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I did indeed take over for Honey Badger. I think I value my ability to post in this thread over keeping my self-voting streak. I think that voting on King Cole would give me the best chance to stay alive, so I'm going to do that until we have more evidence on Straw than on Cole. I haven't seen many posts from either, so I don't feel like I can fully commit to either for voting. Thus, I'm going to vote based on numbers, not analysis.- 1185 replies

Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I did say that there weren’t any—I meant that the ones we had found (and killed) weren’t Elantrians. Sorry for the bad wording. As for the numbers, I dunno. I just think 5 would be too many, so it’s not a sure claim. I’m not great at analysis, and especially not good at metagame analysis, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are two Jeskeri still out there.- 1185 replies

Looking at the stuff that’s happened since I last posted (I’ll refrain from quoting since every post is relevant and short), I think I’ll leave my life up to fate. Unless Kidpen removes the vote, in which case I’m sticking with my original plan. —————— Well, the plants were fully grown. So much time was spent weeding, and now after two days, the grain and fruit was ready to eat. “Yes! One acre, eighty bowls of strawberry dirt crackers! This was totally worth it. I will see what I can do further to perhaps get food to grow even faster, and get the townspeople to farm for me. Efficient.” Then, after eating, there was the mob to think about. People had been casting suspicion, calling out names. Since there were few people who could definitively be Jeskeri, few names were given. Unfortunately, perhaps a death was in order that wasn’t ready for happening. The field would grow into a jungle without Elantrians disactivating the Aon in the center of the field, which still hadn’t been found. Either that, or the people would find someone to weed that field. Maybe the Dor would run out growing so much food? Ah well. If the people came, looking for death, Eoni’d just blend in with the crowd and convince them to kill someone else. Maybe.- 1185 replies

Alright, if nobody votes anymore or something, I am going to die at the hands of an angry mob of two people, one of which is me. I’m not willing for that to happen, so I’m going to remove my vote one hour before rollover if no more votes are cast.- 1185 replies

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
...Huh. The evidence there points to me being Jeskeri. I did say I was guilty of the death, after all. But to give real analysis, and to clear me, I’m going to give my alibi that night—I was pretty inactive. I had posted in-thread, but I hadn’t used my Seon. Actually, I haven’t used my Seon much all game. If anyone wants it, I’ll gift it. For the Jeskeri team, I think they were considering whether to hit Wilson a third time, and then got confused with whether they were doing it and didn’t send any backup orders (in case this confusion happened later in the day). Thus, they didn’t get any orders in until the end of rollover. Even if I was Jeskeri, I would have no idea that the scan on me was happening. No one in the Jeskeri team so far has been Elantrian through that cycle, and while you could say I’m the non-Elantrian and some other Jeskeri is Elantrian, that wouldn’t make sense for numbers. Five Jeskeri is a lot. They’d have one more action each night (same number of kills) and would have just as easy of a time as the Derethi, but instead of the reason being two “kills” it would be high numbers. Possibility 2.b gives me pretty much no way to clear myself, no matter how good my alibi. I’ve got no ability to prove I wasn’t in communication with anybody, since if I was talking to an Elantrian Jeskeri, the only person who can confirm that is them. And then they’d be saying they’re Jeskeri. Welp, see you all at the end of the game, unless I don’t get the final vote. Anyone willing to vote more on Straw? I’m not going to retract my vote, that’d just ruin my streak I’ve got going. Unless I think I’ve got more stuff to do that could help the village. I’ve got one poison Elantrian vial...- 1185 replies

Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, looks like someone just died. I am to blame. Walin. On a discussion note, I think that we should either start PM'ing people more (talking to myself, there, since I haven't used my Seons until a few cycles ago) or get people to claim and see if their claim is true or not by careful analysis. ------ Eoni saw that the crops started to give some grain, which was pretty good for just 24 hours. Some Elantrians must be sneaking in to continue to grow his plants, because he wasn't at his farm earlier. It made little sense, so perhaps it was simply the proximity to the city--there were about two city-streets between the dirt and the city wall.- 1185 replies

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Let's look for some Jeskeri, now, shall we? Good game to the Shu-Dereth faction--we almost lost there. With some good-timed scanning by Seonid, we got some great info, and are now going to have at least thirteen more cycles before the Jeskeri could kill us all, compared to two with the Derethi conversions. Thank you, Seonid, and may you have lived yet for our accusations of you. Also, Elenion, you defended yourself very well. If it weren't for the fact that we didn't have many other suspects, and the pretty clear evidence, you would be the most cleared person. Steel, you played well, and while you were a suspect, I didn't think you'd be found as the Gyorn via a lynch train. Well, excluding the fact that Seonid had scanned you, etc. Basically, the people who got lynched or sacrificed from this game played very well and I thank those who are good at analysis for bringing us this victory. ---- Eoni sat in the fields, with some of his crops already growing. He had hired an Elantrian to come during the day (they didn't look so shiny then, so the lingering distrust of them was hideable from at a distance) and put some Aons in his soil. The dirt really did taste good, but Eoni considered the rich taste of the fruits and grasses themselves once they grew fully. Before the crowd had gathered to discuss their anger, he sent the Elantrian on their way, who nodded like a true noble. Must have been a noble Elantrian like the noble soilmover I am. This was going to be an interesting night, what with the slightly glowy soil and such. Hopefully he could still send Aons around without tracking dirt everywhere. Maybe he could just walk around so much his foot-dirt became citytype rather than fieldtype. He always did like a dual-typer, they really could tank attacks from super-effectives. Especially Earth and Rocktype, those were good. Dashes and hyphens removed to avoid copyright issues while applying fair use, chuckle. What a clever noble dirt farmer I am....- 1185 replies

Now that Elantris was stored, Eoni could finally plant some stuff. He wandered across the city to get some seeds. It would be pretty good if he could buy some from an Elantrian, but he knew that wouldn’t happen. Being a high-up peasant like him, he was above the Elantrians.- 1185 replies

I'll take a spec link, until I die in the LG still running. If I die there, I'm going to play as Torden, a Misting whose studies of water and steam made him give himself the honorary title of Blank Misting. Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, looks like there's only one thing left to do: lynch Seonid and end the game. Of course, that's if there are no Jeskeri left. We didn't get a count on that, but I assume they would still be out there. There had to be more than three. Does anyone still have a Jeskeri Pendant? We could use that as a rudimentary one-use scan, if Seonid dies this night due to competing Jeskeri. Whether we find any Jeskeri, I would like to prolong this game as long as possible, so that we'll get Elantris restored by the end of the game. So, the goals for me are: Kill, if possible, the Odiv (who we think is Seonid), and second, find Jeskeri, and third, kill them once there are no less than two non-Shaod-taken people by the last Day cycle. We could kill the Jeskeri as soon as we can; there could be two left. That'd be the safest option. However, we could convince them to reveal their teammate so they can remain alive for longer. Either way, if Seonid doesn't turn out to be the Odiv, it's going to be quite a ride in the last few cycles, finding the Odiv.- 1185 replies

He probably used Tension to pull the bow back near the end of the book...but then again, he lifted a log. It may be just strength. Anyways, it was Rock’s stew that brought the bridgemen together, and he seems like a leader kind of guy. Maybe there’s a race of each Leader-type Radiant. Archetype: Has a past where family members have been killed. Refuses a high position. Goes through bad stuff. Gets high position, or land, even though they didn’t want it. Is Radiant. Kaladin: high position is the land he got near the end of the book. Rock: high position is Bondsmith and perhaps land.

Buy. I mean, we’ve already got some... The Stormlight Archive 2.0 will be made with scratched, rather than drilled, gems that can be played by a fabrial—much like the difference between cards and CD’s in computing.

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Whoa. What? What?? It seemed like Elenion was the one to start this whole train on Steel. Or at least, provide the conclusive evidence. I don’t know why the Odiv would do that, unless they had a great alibi so that the accusation would clear them. Either way, we know we have at least two more night cycles until there’s a real need to kill the Odiv (or Gyorn, if Steel is the Odiv). Well, the Jeskeri are back into the spotlight; let’s start finding who’s an elim. I’d say they want to take out the more aware players, but everyone posting analysis has pretty thorough analysis; lots of targets to choose from and such. Hopefully I don’t get killed, but then I’d be free to play Joe’s game. Maybe this will be over in the next cycle, eh? (No, I know, too many non-Derethi left).- 1185 replies

Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ah, ok. I see your analysis and raise you an apology for not considering all three sides. I had forgotten about the difference between being a Gyorn and an Odiv, and should have said “Gyornness or Odivness.” My sentence after that was in reference to my actions in MR28, and Roadwalker’s (also in MR28) which didn’t stop us from getting lynched. Next, on the other quote from me, that makes lots of sense. Passing pendants is anonymous, and claiming isn’t always believable. However, even once Steel dies, we won’t know whether the pendant passed to you was passed in the way claimed. Well, I’ve gotta go, mobile and all; hopefully we get a Gyorn or Odiv and don’t lynch the Jeskeri on accident until the remaining Derethi Converter is dead (because then we get an extra night kill).- 1185 replies

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux
Walin replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Looks like that’s a confession. We only have ten more hours, so I doubt you’re going to have the fewest number of votes by the end of this cycle. I’d say we discuss the next candidate for Gyornness if Steel turns out to be doing the ol’ “Bluff that you’re an eliminator” trick. I think that, should Steel fall, there should be a couple of pieces of evidence here that came up today. If Steel never had a pendant, Elenion is clear. If he *did*, Elenion is a lot more suspicious—because he would have passed it to Elenion so he has the truth to tell, rather than an easily falsifiable lie. Unless, however, the person who passed the pendant to Elenion is dead, or an Elantrian. Elenion mentioned this possibility while accusing Steeldancer, so I’d say that he has less of an elim-y read. ———— Eoni didn’t take place in the voting. He wanted to stay here, accuse himself like a king should, and watch what happened in the discussion. He ate some dirt, and some roots, and started tilling the dirt again. May as well get ready for planting season, which was as soon as Elantris double-fell. He had some bets running with Stan, whose real name was Stone. The boulder hadn’t moved since the Reod, and Eoni was hoping he’d not let an earthquake move him again. Moving was a fun thing to do, but only for humans. Boulders wouldn’t have fun rolling around; they’d get all dizzy and angular-momentum-y. Gotta watch out for that angular momentum. It’ll spin you right round, Eoni thought. Spinning right round, right round, like a record baby—didn’t seem the way to impress subjects. He’d have to govern them with soil.- 1185 replies
