I’m currently in favor of locking threads, mainly because I don’t actually think people will stop posting in old threads. When we tried to get people to stop posting in old threads everyone always had to make one last post, and that sometimes was multiple posts. I try leave time for people to make one last wrap up post for that thread for their characters, but if you are in the middle of an interaction it’s better to try and move it to the new thread than wrap it up in the last thread. That said, it is annoying for threads to be locked and things to be moved, I am personally confused about why we have multiple threads for each main plot. Ideally we could circumvent the whole issue by having one thread for the whole plot.

It’s 5. Ark only has 5 characters and I have it noted which ones. I haven’t updated the list because it’s a giant laggy thing that’s a pain to edit.
-
Looks good, he’s approved. Can’t edit the list rn, but will soon.

You mean that he's a channeler with a slight affinity for earth? I seem to recall it being an all or nothing deal, like you can access the one power, however weakly, and use all the weaves, or you aren't able to access it at all.

I can’t remember. It was when he was explaining a little bit about how storing up heath is tough. I could be wrong on the specifics however.
-
Im not sure about that. We know there are protections around tapping metal minds, but I’m not sure it’s been confirmed that there are the same protections around storing. If it has, then that settles it. It seems logical, but I seem to remember Wayne when he was storing health saying that he couldn’t store too much or he would die. And if there aren’t protections on storing for gold (the place where it seems most logical to have protections) then I don’t see why there would be protections for the other metals, unless gold is just an exception. I also think that it would depend on how brass stores heat. If it changes the temp of your whole body, including your core, then it raises a few more issues. And to your second point, I wasn’t thinking about this as a method of storing heat, more as a hypothetical situation where one where someone was tossed into a fire. So there probably are many more efficient ways to do that.
-
I don’t see how that’s relevant. The idea behind filling a brass mind while around heat is that your internal temperature is falling, and instead of dying from hypothermia, the heat around you warms your body to normal temperatures. The trick is to balance the rate of heat being stored with the rate of heat being added to your body. If you are adding 1 joule per second to the metalmind, and are in a situation where via conduction/ratiation etc, you are gaining 1 joule per second, the amount of energy in your body, and thus your heat, would stay the same. While we don’t know how fast you could fill a metal mind, and thus how cold you could make your body, if there was no lower limit you could lower your body temperature such that if you stood in a fire it would conduct heat into your body at the same rate you were storing it into your energy. The difference between this situation and a cold blooded animal is that a cold blooded animal is still absorbing all of the heat from the fire, you would be storing all the heat away in a heat sink, making it so your body would still be at livable temperatures.

@AonEne it’s alright. We all make mistakes. I think I spotted another one though, you seem to have not placed my name under the leader slot, I have no idea why that is, but if you could fix that at the soonest convenience it would be amazing. -
I’m not sure about that, because tapping/filling legitimately changes your body temperature and if your body isn’t hot it won’t melt. A better description I think would be that if you were being burned alive, you could survive the heat but would still be killed by suffocating from lack of O2

Mac carefully watched the surroundings for any sign of HR as they were warped away. It seemed safe, but he still kept his guard up. Voidus didn’t know how much Cam disliked him ever since Voidus refused to adopt his inane open floor plan for the labs. Mac Didn’t blame Voidus a bit, they were scientists not businessmen, but Cam was still salty. He would go to any length to ensnare him in a web of company policy. He quickly glanced around at the present company. Voidus, overworked and stressed about many things. Laurelai the Voidi, worried sick about Voidus’ weird behavior. Lita burning Tin faster then a soldier uses firemoss. The Stranger, just kinda being strange. For a group of immortal demigods they were looking pretty shoddy. It was a shame that they had to worry about this city. It took a toll on them. Mac felt partially responsible for its current mess, after the last plague swept through he had pushed hard to open up its borders to new people. Sadly the new people weren’t quite as good as the previous bunch. Them and their descendants seemed determined to destroy this paradise they had built. It would be easy to just start over. Half the people in this alley could do it single handedly. He thought back to the women and her child from earlier, the grateful look in their eyes as he reunited them, and internally he sighed. If he wanted to retain his humanity, he had to help some way. No matter how annoying or stressful it was. Thankfully, all they had to do was seal the Vortex. Macs agents had already opened up the alleys with safe evacuation places, unfortunately after reading the disclaimer most people still were evacuating with TUBA, but oh well. It couldn’t be helped. He turned to Lita as she asked him if the alleystorm would affect the Vortex. “It seems logical that it would. They said that if feeds on investiture and the alleystorm is a constant source of investiture. However, it might not be as big of an issue as it seems. The latest spy reports are saying that they appear to be wrapping it in aluminum foil. So they are in the right track. The foil would break if anything touched it however. We will need to talk with them and maybe soulcast the air into aluminum. I think that’s everything. Should we head out?” @ZincAboutIt @Voidus

That still is canon, this would be before even character approval, though approved characters could still enter, and completely non canon.
-
I think that it would be right next to the mimes headquarters. Maybe even run by the mimes.
-
Cool! I really like the idea.
-
Ok. I actually thought of a setting that might work for it, if you guys wanted suggestions. The idea is that they are in an inter dimensional waiting room in the alleys and there is a helper there who can put them into situations that they want to be in, so you can interact in the waiting room with others, or you can enter simulations with them to test or weaknesses or voice. There would need to be a few rules governing good behavior for characters, because OP characters could come in and dominate everything.

I should clarify, the CDS thread was a thread devoted to character developement scenes that you wrote about your characters. It was basically a bunch of one person scenes as no one interacted with each other’s scenes. It sounds like this would be very different.
-
I really like that idea! another thing that it could help with is the evaluation of weaknesses from the approves standpoint. It’s tough to get an idea for how debilitating a weakness is from just a sentence in a character sheet, but with this thread you could point to RP samples of a weakness and say, this is a more typical occurrence of his PTSD or this is how his missing limb effects his fighting style.
-
Sounds cool! Would it be similar to like a character developement thread that’s kind of self contained? Edit: should clarify, would it have its own tiny plot that you can RP in? Or would it be more like the CDS thread from era one, where you posted things about what your character did and it didn’t really interact with anything else.

Basically what Zinc said, but with the added thing that reading through the coppermind wiki is a good way to familiarize yourself with the magic systems. @Goldeneye63

Cam woke up from his form filling trance. Someone had summoned him. He stood up to leave then looked around him at the mess. He couldn’t leave yet. He had to follow protocol, and Memo #4583 said that the offices needed to follow all the highest standards of cleanliness, even when the occupant filled out over 900,000 forms in triplicate under an hour. He busied himself cleaning up the forms and sorting them based on destination. Had to do first things first. —————————— Mac’s widened in fear, “oh no...” he whispered. Checking his watch, he didn’t see any of his agents alerting him of HR activity yet, which means they had a little bit of time. “Very sorry to cut this meeting short, but our location may be compromised after summoning them. We need to distribute assignments then disperse, quickly.“ Mac shook his head, Storm it voidus. First in the meeting, then summoning HR? Are you determined to kill us?
