  1. Hmm at first glance this doesn't trouble me too much as 'around' the same time from even a modern Rosharan perspective could easily be within a decade or two from each other. If there's evidence that one was around centuries before that would be troubling. I'll look further but I don't have the Dalinar flashbacks so I'll have to take your word for it on the Thrill timing.
  2. I was looking to post a theory shortly (when I get the time to write it), based on an interlude involving a soulcaster, spoilered obviously. But should I avoid doing that until this sub-forum is created? Even then is it bad form?
  3. This is quite interesting @Crucible of Shards and @Argent. My one problem with it is timing. My head-canon for some time has been that Aimia was scoured quite a long time ago, I was thinking in the order of hundreds of years, because of this. Whereas we know (at least some of) the Unmade have only been active for years. Of course I could be completely wrong about Axies wording and maybe Aimia was only scoured in the last 15 years, before then Aimians kept to themselves and were forgotten but the scouring forced them to the continent where people are now starting to recognize them. But I feel when you use the word 'legends' that implies a longer time-frame. And of course maybe there was an Unmade active long before the others. But that's my hesitation for this theory. Otherwise nice work though, there's some good connections there.
  4. I don't know you much as we tend to post on different boards, but you seem to be universally loved and that's as good a reference as you can get
  5. Spoilers continued for Oathbringer Interlude, and for Secret History
  6. So I just read one of the Oathbringer Interlude reading transcripts, about a soulcaster, and I think it solves @Darkness and @Yata's and my questions. I'll spoiler the rest though it barely needs it, the quote I'll use doesn't really give away and plot points.
  7. A few more and you're immortal mate! Now, repeat after me, to me, "My life to yours, my Rep become yours". Edit - ha, I only just noticed this, in the list of ranks. 1050 1079 Cryptic1024 1049 HonorSpren1000 1023 Sentient Awakened Object980 999 Truthless950 979 Highprince I'm glad the designers of the new ranks saw things the same way
  8. I feel so left out. Once again my red-green colorblindness is affecting my life. I feel like when I got rejected to be a pilot and the time I couldn't figure out why I was so slow at picking strawberries in Denmark. As if Warbreaker and Lightbringer didn't make me feel inadequate enough. #supportthecolorblind #needdonationsforconetransplant
  9. I see it as the opposite way (if I've understood correctly). We know Vessels can and do fight the Intent imposed on them by their Shard. Firstly I don't think shard can actually 'store' anything, that's a level of magic beneath them, for want of a better word. But if they could I believe it would be storing the Vessel's determination, which would immediately let the Intent of the Shard overwhelm them completely. Sazed's determination is the only thing enabling Harmony to act.
  10. Yeah, without sharpening my own Blade too much, there aren't many WoBs I'm unable to track down and I've spent a loooong time looking for this - all I've found is Sharders referring to such a WoB but never the WoB itself. It may be one of the times the speculation takes on a life of its own. But if somebody can find it I'm happy because I don't like the implication of such a WoB, I'd prefer it be wrong
  11. Yeah I believe it's likely they're from another planet and have pre-existing powers. We're certainly not sure but here are two WoBs that would be compatible with that. Add to that the reflexes of the-man-who-calls-himself-Taln, without an Honorblade.
  12. Well you picked one of my favorite moments from my very favorite comedy to do it, so for that I thank you Oversleep I haven't laughed so hard in a while.
  13. Here are the WoBs My take is that yeah they deplete but Firstly not so much that they'll truly run out. The renewability though i imagine being over thousands of years. I feel like there's a WoB explicitly saying there are fewer allomancers only because the gene pool that came from the original lerasium eaters is so diluted but I can't find it.
  14. Then we are in furious agreement Calderis I certainly don't think Bavadin cam circumvent Autonomy’s intent, just that she's the one most likely to be fighting it still and finding ways to get around it/maintain her identity.
  15. I think the key here is that, by Rosharan definitions, a spren is investiture that has gained sentience. The Honorblades may be pure Investiture in physical form or may just be a conduit for the direct transfer of Honor's investiture (like metal), I don't think we know but I suspect they're the latter. There's no reason to think that Honorblades are sentient so they're not spren. And a Sliver incidentally is someone who has taken up a Shard and released the power, so nah the Heralds aren't Slivers. They're Cognitive Shadows, a soul filled with Investiture and stapled to a physical body (to briefly define them).
  16. I get that Calderis, but who would your candidate(s) be for Shard other than Harmony that is actively and significantly denying the intent of their Shard? I mean it could be anyone of course, but if the time-frame is the problem with it being Bavadin, the only alternative is a Shard that was taken up by a new Vessel more recently (ie has changed hands since the Shattering). That's certainly possible, but until we have some options to speculate about, knowing at least one Shard other than Harmony is fighting their Intent, and knowing that Bavadin acts in some ways that are hard to reconcile with her Shard's intent makes her my top candidates. And besides, while 6000 years is a long time to maintain will-power, Taln fought torture for 4000 Though I do think other Shards have changed hands since the Shattering so that remains a live option.
  17. That's a good point Yata. Then all I can think of to be consistent with that WoB is that Breath, when it's given to you, creates the crack and immediately fills it.
  18. Here you go
  19. Oversleep did you make this?? I just googled some stupid thing+meme+cosmere and since Always Sunny is the the GREATEST I had to post it. So yes, totally spread in the google-results-for-Cosmere-memes sense
  20. Aah fair enough, sorry From what I remember from Liar of Partinel, it's a stable moving image like what we've started to see of Illumination but add to it proper independence, an illusion that can carry acting largely like a person would. From my memory at least. But it still seems much more like manipulation of light than particles. That said, Brandon did say there was an original Yolen magic that involved splitting the atom but it was way overpowered. But no idea if it was part of the same system as Lightweaving
  21. @Hoids Imaginary Friend I think you're wrong, but I hope you're right and either way I really like your Shard-combinations now I'll be thinking about fun Shard mixes all night. Shard cocktails. Autonomy+Endowment+Lemon+Soda water makes a tasty glass of Bubbly Libertarian. Odium+Preservation+Orange Juice for a Hangover Shattering. (I'll stop now)
  22. I think you mean Oathvember (Novembringer?) But welcome to the Shard! It's the perfect place to increase your enjoyment of the Cosmere, I also lurked for a long time but once I joined and started posting it forced me to learn more than I knew was possible!
  23. My uncle introduced me to the Cosmere. Me, after mentioning Adonalsium to my uncle (who's read every Cosmere book), and him asking "Who's Adonalsium?"
  24. Thanks, it always surprised me greatly so if it's either confirmed or speculated-with-evidence that it's wrong or incorrectly worded, that will clear up a few things for me.
