Coupla things. To further @Calderis point about the delay being deliberate, Honor himself says that. And in terms of the Oathpact, I'll just point out this. Also if you want to browse through some WoBs on the Oathpact @Passion I've complied a bunch here. There's more relevant to this I just don't have time to go through them

It was always a bit strange to me that Allik said yes when asked if it was TLR since the Southerners didn't know about TLR. Could be a translation issue. But Kel clearly states new was King (unless time obscured his original words). But I don't think he was trying to weirdly mislead, and also not necessarily for self glorification. I think it was a way to embed in their minds his authority for their own benefit. Things were good before and bad after. So he basically let them think he was the original reason for the good times, so they'd trust jinn to help rebuild their society. But I've always seem the best in my man Kel.

I'll throw this WoB in here. It's only tangentially relevant to the immediate discussion but it always fascinated me.

Here's the quote There's no doubt as to what Av thought the boon was, what he was told. He may be wrong, his father also may be wrong. I refuse to believe that was the actual boon until we see similar examples. Because its stupid. That WoB may be dodgy but it makes far more sense for boons to be neurological, or at least something other than stormin' cloth. That would be beyond weird to me, and realmatically inexplicable as a magic system.

Unless Allik is simply wrong, Kel pretended to be TLR

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Extesian replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Yeah I only started to interact a bit more with The Other Side when I started using Discord. RP and such is not my bag at all, but it's cool that there's a whole other side to this site that people get to enjoy -
To be fair, there was beautiful clickbait.

Cookiespren, you may appreciate my choice for the only costume I've ever owned. I of course was Cookie. Wore it to an international sporting event as well. But alas it expired. My wish ever since has been for some kind of invincible, adaptable Cookie Monster outfit instead. I guess what I'm asking is, if I bond with your kind, will I get my own Cookieplate once I reach the 5th Oath?

So just to confirm me wrong and @Pagerunner right further

I think the most important point is narrative. I hated Dalinar doing nothing about that slimy cremling but he took no action because he wanted to unite. It was about a greater philosophy, which linked to a greater goal. Without that philosophy, I think Dalinar would not be a Bondsmith. Thank the Heralds his boy did what he both couldn't and shouldn't do.

I accept biscuits or highly enriched uranium. Provided they're pickled of course. -

I like this theorizing! A couple of points. It seems the Bondsmiths were responsible for stopping Listener / Spren bonds. We know that Division splits molecules, not atoms. I'm inclined to think the true power of the Releasers is in their resonance, but it could just be the Division surge in combination with uses of Aggression we haven't seen. But I do like the line of thinking and some of it may be spot on. Edit - sorry Jonathon I didn't read that part properly, you acknowledged the Bondsmiths stopped the bonding. Maybe there's something to the idea the Releasers can undo that. It feels wrong? But you may have something there. I do find the idea of separating investiture from matter and energy, rather than just dividing matter, whether or not it's right.

Yes hemalurgy can be used to steal any magical ability in the Cosmere if you know the right places to spike and have the right intent. We don't know if it always requires metal spikes but I believe it does. A few supporting WoBs

Completely agree Maxal. I'm only saying that IF THE Nightwatcher is involved (and I don't think she is) I hope the twist is that the autism is the boon.

What is it we value? Innovation. Originality. Novelty. But most importantly...timeliness. I fear I may be too late, a confused, unfortunate Extesian..

Proper attribution is dead, but I'll see what I can do. Edit - ironically I then forgot to sign each picture with Oversleep's name Wisdom of the Heralds

I believe that

Heh really? I see that as the least likely boon that we ‘know’. I don’t believe for a second that the dude’s boon was a physical thing, I think he got cloth through some neurological boon that he didn’t tell anyone about. I think Taravangian’s is by far the clearest, the boon is the ability to have semi-deific levels of intelligence sometimes (and I strongly believe the curse is the accompanying emotional intensity during the stupider days; but at least I think the boon is very clear). With Lift as well I think the boon is very, very clear. She has probably the single biggest boon of any individual on Roshar. The curse is the one I’m unsure of there. And while her boon doesn’t make sense, we know that she asked to not change while the world does, and that the Nightwatcher didn’t know how to deal with such a request, so gave her something equally strange. To me that is so clearly metabolizing food into stormlight. But we can do something we seldom do – agree to disagree and of course I acknowledge I may be wrong, but I have little doubt in my own head-canon about T and L, and much more doubt about Mr Cloth.
-
We know Lift's request if not her boon for sure (though surely metabolising food into stormlight). Some dude mentioned in an interlude got a bunch of cloth (curse was seeing upside down). That one always troubled me. I certainly don't discount Taravangian though, I think his boon is the clearest of all. Intertwined with the curse or not.

It's a creative theory But it was actually Preservation who wrote them as his way of keeping Ruin trapped every 1000 years. He talks about it in Secret History. Ruin just corrupted them over time. Edit - adding a useful WoB.

Tbh I didn't see there was a third page posted while I was asleep All I'll say is I understand Maxal's out-of-world reasons why Brandon may not do that. But that's not because there's anything wrong with having magic in a fictional world do things that are purely genetic IRL. It's because of a problem IRL that shouldn't exist (imo). In-world, of COURSE it's realmatically plausible for it to happen and probably consistent with the Old Magic. I would actually prefer if the autism was the gift. That would be a Brandon thing to do, to show something prior irl think of as a curse and actually show how, with the right support, the differently abled can flourish and make the best of their unusual circumstances.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

When your girlfriend actually starts calling Brandon Sanderson "your Mistress". -
I must say I don't care anywhere near as much about Renarin's personal relationship with Glys as I would about the bond or Gly himself actually being different. That's what interests me and what I'll be looking out for. I like Renarin but I'm not very interested in him yet, more in his significance.
