Heh it was my first ever response from Team Sanderson!! I'm unacceptably excited
-
Well well well. Those chapters were nowhere near as intriguing to me as the previous ones. Aside from the minor voidbringer reveals, mostly character development. But oh, the characters! So here goes After 2600 pages you've finally won me with your banter Shally OH REALLY MR CHAMPION Oh Shallan, I always loved you. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. RIP Shalladin. Did...we know she was Herdazian? What the storms Shallan. You get pain from sweet food? You really are a masochist young lady. Pattern, I love you. I love you during the Weeping. I love you during moonrise. I'll love you until the world crumbles. Get out of my chapters you red herring. So that settles it, the Everstorm changed them all back to regular Listener form, not all voidform, and they remember being parshmen. They...remember. oh those poor, poor people. Ummmmmmm. What? A spren? A Nahel spren with the Voidbringers? An unevil-sounding voidspren? What is this? Oh what a deliciously ironic line. The feminist racist. Oh Pattern, you beautiful, sad little voidbringer. Though good to know they would just send another. That could be handy... Wow, she really can transform, even herself. Shalladin may be dead but I smell the Radiadin ship sailing! Kaladiant? Add that to Mrail (Veize?) and looks like Shallan Leeds will be a playa! Kaladin, you're a beautiful man. HA! Dividing by zero. DIVIDING BY ZERO.

This fun little quest Not sure about solved it but I suspect we're pretty close:) Arclo says that they used to fight with Radiants so I wouldn't be shocked if they can somehow surgebind but I suspect the mechanics would be changed. But there is also some ambiguity in the use of 'we' in previous back covers so they could be talking about Roshar rather than Aimians, or Dysian Aimians, specifically.

Yes, nice, that was the main one I wasn't sure of, but that does look more like completion.

Metal from any source, mined elsewhere or soulcast, is allomantically viable. It's the molecular structure of metals that provide the focus for the metallic arts, not Scadrian metal being invested. With alloys though it needs to be the right composition

Yes, the shepherd bit i like. Nice.

Thanks mate, I've put that in, I agree

So i played with color and i think this is more legible. What i have, building on feather, is this. Obviously happy for corrections. A new storm has come. Ash and red lightning sweep the land, awakening our ancient enemies. The Unmade—shadows of the Enemy's mind—stir, while the eyes of men open. This war is not, and never was, what they thought it to be. We may soon hold Surges again. For the Radiance has resurfaced in some and [illegible] others. The Captain, broken by loss, seeks reconciliation. The Spy, broken by cruelty, seeks vindication. The Stonewalker, broken by oaths, seeks truth. The traitor, broken by ambition, seeks freedom. And finally the King, broken by war, he seeks the past. That which was abandoned. That which he must not learn. For those secrets will crush him as they did the Knights which came before.

We do not know that. We know there are 3 Bondsmith spren but not that the Nightwatcher is one, unless I missed something. I think the Bondsmith spren are probably Adonalsium spren and that cognitive shadows have nothing to do with it, as the Stormfather was not merged with Tanavast's cognitive shadow at the time he was previously bonded to a Radiant. If the Nightwatcher is one I think it's because she's an Adonalsium spren that later became associated with, or influenced by Cultivation. I think the third one will be something similar epic - Highstorms, Nature and...... something else significant to Roshar. My blind guess - stone.

Heh Tarachin Superstar crept up on me. I think my favorite remaining of Chaos' ridiculous ranks. #theseradiculousranks

At the end of the preview chapter season imma see what topic each week's thread finished on. I'm being 40% morality, 30% Adolin, 20% technical/engineering and 10% realmatics n theories n Roshar n stuff. It's a fascinating study in group behavior. N stuff.

Remarkable effort guys! The turnaround for these things will be less than three signing lengths once this beta-irl-busyness calms down
-
@Lurcher, you're an absolute legend.

Sounds like Cultivation to me. (Where's Joe's thinking emoji when I need it)

I did not and loved them. Maybe my favorite non- cosmere. But you definitely need to read a synopsis of the game that occurs between the two infinity blade books. You don't need to before you read the first, and i actually preferred that i came into the first one cold. But the second one makes little sense if you don't read the summary of what happens in between. Then of course to complete the story you have to find another summary as the books are not the end of the story

Just want to update this still excellent thread with this @ZenBossanova

Yata its funny, after i finished typing all that i realized the same thing, that a crack in the spirit web is unrelated to innate investiture. Which makes my question useless for that purpose. You're completely right. Which leaves me wondering about any subtle way to determine that. Shows I was still learning a lot just a few months ago. For someone who considers myself now pretty good with realmatics that's something I should've realized long before now Maybe the simplest question is "do Breaths create a crack in the spirit web or is no crack necessary? (If the latter) is this because Breath is end neutral?"
-
Some or particularly all. This stems from discussions about how Breath works with the concept of investiture needing a hole in the spirit web (the whole snapping business). The discussions came out as three main options - Breath does not require a hole in the spirit web (either because its end neutral or because its physical); all Nalthians are born with that hole which enables Breath to fill it; or the receiving of Breath (at birth or later) creates the necessary hole. I personally believe it requires no hole and i think that's because Breath is physical and doesn't integrate with the spirit web (Brandon recently said he's undecided on that, though divine breath does integrate with the spirit web). But if a non-nalthian would actually become drab, or even just have a bit less innate investiture after giving Breath away, that could imply that Breath actually creates that hole. Its tenuous but it was the best way i could think of to narrow down options and avoid getting rafo'd. I'm certainly open to a different line of questioning to settle that issue. I did a theory on the mechanics of Breath some months ago and wanted to try settle it And thanks yata. I expect you're talking about this one? It certainly establishes the lower level of a nalthian without breath but not whether a non-nalthian receiving a Breath has their innate investiture level changed by it, ie if breath kind of drills a hole in the spirit web or attaches itself to innate investiture in a way that pulls it off when given away, like a bandaid removing hairs when you pull it off. I realized my above explanation is not great. Basically i want to know why nalthians without breath have LESS investiture than other people in the cosmere and I'm hoping to shed light on the question of whether breath requires, or creates, a crack in the spirit web. As mentioned though I personally dont think it does, but i want to play with options aa I'm obsessed with nalthis and we have little on it. Incidentally here's my old nalthis theory I wrote it on my 6th month shard anniversary and haven't read it in months so not sure how much has been resolved. I haven't been good with updating my questions or theories

When i have the time i don't have time to browse the forums at the moment so ours only if i notice someone is looking for a WoB in the quick scroll i occasionally do of the news feed. I don't mind being tagged if people are looking for a specific WoB though, it usually only takes a minute or two
-
One i would like to add if anyone has capacity is whether a non-Nalthian who is given Breath, and then gives all of that Breath away, would have less investiture than they started with/would become a Drab.

In case you're not aware that is written by the Sleepless (Dysian Aimians). There has been speculation about which of the four will do the destroying and who will be destroyed (aimians, roshar or something else). But no dedicated thread to my knowledge. If you search this site for that sentence in quotation marks you'll find some speculation

Here's an interesting WoP on it And some food for thought
