Well...not what I was expecting. I was enjoying seeing a pretty active xino. And I’m surprised Rae was actually an elim. I was not getting that vibe at all. Also, this is probably the part where I get suspicion for attempting to start a train that wasn’t Rae. I’d probably get into myself for that if I wasn’t me. So...would it be too much to mention that we have even more time now that we’ve got a successful lynch under our belts? Also, I’m gonna go through and see how people were interacting with xino’s ideas to see who seemed most against them. Or at least wary of them.
-
So, we need a lynch. I don’t particularly find Rae all that suspicious myself, so I don’t want to vote on her. Not going to vote on Joe or Sart because Joe’s shown up and Sart was just poking him. And presumably hasn’t had a chance to get on take that back yet. That leaves me with Fura and xino. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with xino’s code thing. Fura hasn’t really done much to make me suspect him, but he has voted for himself. That (along with suggesting my own lynch) is something I tend to do when I’m an elim, so I’ll go ahead and vote for Fura.
-
This is very true. I have played way too many games where I’ve died before C3. When I don’t die early, I do a pretty good job. For an example, look at the most recent AG or BrightnessRadiant’s Reckoners game.
-
Well, this isn’t the thing I’d expect to draw suspicion towards me C1, but are we really surprised? (In case you don’t know, there’s a bit of a tradition for me getting lynched in the first cycle or two of games) So, I guess I should’ve added more to what I was saying like I thought about doing? I wasn’t trying to give us a false sense of security or anything. I was even gonna mention that, when you consider the fact that most of the knives are probably gonna just hit villagers if they’re used in the early game, we actually probably have less than six mislynches we can afford. I don’t blame you guys for reading it that way, but that wasn’t my intent.
-
Okay, I’m just gonna pop in real quick to say hello! I think that Elkanah’s right about waiting to use the knives. There probably aren’t too many of them, and using them this early in the game is more likely to hit a villager than an elim. Unless you’re worried about your own survival, I think it’s best to just wait on the knives unless you really, really suspect someone is an elim Also, with 22 players, I’d expect 5 elims. Ignoring the knives, we have six mislynches until we hit LyLo. Plenty of time to start finding people we suspect and stuff. ~ Reverie followed the group as she watched the sinking sun set over the tops of the trees of the forest of hell. Her mother had told her stories of travelers getting lost in the forest, but she’d spent years exploring and conquering it. As long as she followed the three simple rules, she was fine. She cast a glance to he fellow travelers. It was the others she was worried about.

Ah yes. Mixed up the words spreading out and consolidating in my head. Sorry.

So, I’m not quite sure where this misunderstanding came from? I could’ve sworn I had said that I was suspicious of Straw for encouraging people to spread out their votes instead of consolidating them? Though, I guess if how confused I got trying to type out that sentence is an indicator of anything, I probably just mistyped in the post where I voted on Straw and Lopen. I guess I got something good out of that post though! There’s been a lot of really good discussion and analysis happening. I think I’m going to leave my votes where they are. I still feel confident in my reasoning for voting on Straw. And while I am glad that Lopen has been contributing more, I still feel a little weird about his posts. Maybe that’s just because I’m going into them expecting to feel weird about them. I don’t think there’s anyone else that deserves my votes right now, so I’m leaving them where they are.

Okay, sorry for the delay. I was studying for a final today and it was my little brother's birthday. (Happy birthday @Ventyl!) Anyway, I really think it's time I start trying to figure out who I think are Skindancers. I don't know why, but something about Lopen has been setting alarm bells for me. The tone just feels off to me. If I had the time to dedicate to a full reread of everything I would try and go through and find out why. However, I don't really have that time right now, so I just have to rely on my gut. As for my second vote, I'm going to use it on Straw. I'm still not a huge fan of how much he was trying to keep us from spreading out our votes last turn. He's also been putting in a lot of work on something that isn't necessarily super helpful for the village. In my experience, players who put a lot of work in on something that isn't necessarily alignment indicative (such as post counts, mentions of other players in posts, etc.) tend to be elims. They're trying to show that they're putting effort into the game without necessarily doing something super helpful. (Also, Straw, don't take this personally in case you're actually a villager. This is how I caught an elim once in the AG, so I've started picking up on it in other games too. I do really appreciate your work despite all this! ) ~ Ryykal was tapping his foot as he worked on an assignment for his arithmetic class. The numbers were blurring together in his head as he listened to a piece he was practicing in his head. He'd been spending a lot of time practicing at the Eolian. There was a big performance coming up soon, and he wanted to impress those at the Eolian with this performance. For a moment, he considered whether or not he should focus more on his studies. If I don't get the talent pipes, he thought to himself, I might not even get to go to the University anymore. So for now, he continued singing in his head while trying to do homework. The time caught up to him eventually when he realized he was almost late for a class and made his way out of the house. On the way, he thought about how there was yet another student from the University who had gone insane. For a moment he thought he heard footsteps following him. It almost reminded him of the piece he'd been practicing... He quickly turned around in the middle of the street, glancing around frantically. A few people passing by gave him weird looks and walked around him. I must've imagined it, he thought to himself. All the stress from school and students going insane is getting to me. That's all....

Okay, I think this game is honestly going way over my head. It's so hard to think about any specific thing in this game since there's so much going on at once. So many rules, so many players, so many posts. And honestly, I think a large part of that has been the fact that we've all been encouraged to simply vote on people in a way that spreads out the consequences rather than look for reasons to actually vote for someone. Straw has been amplifying this, but I'm not going to vote on him in case he is a villager since he already has three votes. I think I'll vote on Xino since he encouraged all of this to happen this cycle again, which greatly benefits the elims. As for those who were elevated, I think it would be best for you guys to keep the field that you were elevated in secret. It would be all to easy for the elims to decide to take out someone who was elevated in a field the find threatening. Or, if you announce which field you were elevated in and it's not one they would find threatening, then they know not to go after you.

Ryykal was whistling a tune to himself while he got ready that morning. He couldn't tell what it was, but he knew he'd heard it recently. Maybe one of the musicians who had been practicing at the Eolian when he was there? That could be it. He had been spending a lot of time practicing there recently. Wouldn't be a surprise if he'd overheard something and now it was stuck in his head. His stream of thought was interrupted when he opened his door and saw a piece of candy and a little note on the ground. Happy New Term!!! It read. Ryykal smiled, unwrapping the little candy and plopping it in his mouth as he began to walk to class. Good to know that there's still a little kindness in the world, he thought to himself. As he made his way to campus, his mood soured as he saw the way people were talking to each other and whispering to each other. Something had happened. Quickly glancing around, he ran up to a nearby student and tapped their shoulder to ask them what had happened. ~ If anyone wants to be that student, go ahead!

Yes, I know I need to vote on someone. I spent most of yesterday relaxing and just glancing at the Shard on my phone instead of really spending the time to think about this game. Right now though, I'm not quite sure who to vote on for that tuition reduction. I know I need it, but I'm not sure who to vote on. It's been really hard to keep track of what's been going on in this game. Ughhhhhh. I lost a post I'd been working on for close to an hour. It only saved this first little bit when I went to the new page when Hael posted and I'm so mad. I'd made a fancy vote count thing where I bolded the nobles and italicized the commoners and I'm upset. I'm not gonna bother remaking it because I remember who I decided to vote on, and not much has changed since Burnt's last vote count. I'm going to vote on Experience because Basically all the rest of the commoners/nobles have already been voted on, besides for Coda, who already has been severely punished. Besides that, I'm voting on Experience because I find it weird that, even after the GMs clarified that who became the master in which field wouldn't be revealed, just that someone had become the master. Something about that, plus the reset of their post, feels odd to me. ~ Ryykal's fingers tenderly flew across the piano keys as he let his mind soar alongside the music he was creating. He had gathered a small audience while playing, but he didn't pay much attention to them. The music wasn't for them, it was for himself. Music was an escape from the stress and hardships of his daily life. A way for him to forget the things that were dragging him down and simply experience life and joy and harmony and happiness. He desperately needed that in these trying times. The stress from studying for his classes and spending hours on end staring at books was starting to get to him. Then there was the news about that poor man who had gone insane. That scared Ryykal, because most days he felt like he was on the edge of the great chasm of insanity himself. But for now, all those worries washed away as he let the music flow through him. The rising passages and quick flurries of notes. The sweet tender moments as he played so softly you could hear the quiet breathing of those gathered to watch him. Then, a series of ascending arpeggios and frantic crescendos all building up to one glorious final chord. His hands hovered over the piano for a moment as he relished in the pure bliss of making music. It took a moment reality to come crashing down as the applause of the considerably larger audience brought him back from his reverie. He stood up to bow, and thanked the kind folks as they complimented him and even gave him some spare coins. As the last of the crowd faded away, he was once again left with his thoughts. Time to return to work, he thought sadly.

@Elbereth That write-up is fantastic! Everyone needs to upvote that! Literally one of the best write-ups I’ve seen. Anyway, I’ll do more discussion and role play and analysis of what this could mean tomorrow, but here’s some quick ideas right now: how certain are we going to be that HH isn’t a skindancer himself? I can’t remember the last time someone pulled a WGG since Aman in the game, LG56, I ran, but it’s still a distinct possibility. Especially considering that the skindancers probably had anywhere from five to seven people to comb through the rules and would’ve noticed that they were the only way someone could go insane the first turn. At the same time, I could be totally going down the rabbit trail of IKYK’s right now. I guess we’ll see if I’m right if/when HH dies. Also @Hemalurgic Headshot I’m interested in your thoughts about going insane. (He can still post, right? Or am I forgetting something about the rules? I hope I’m not forgetting anything). Also, it’s interesting that so many people got brought on the horns. I was expecting at least one person, but not that many. Maybe I just had my expectations way too low? Not sure.

I guess that's fair. If someone really wants to go into a field, I don't think it's a bad thing if they do that. I just think it'd be nice to try and save the fields that can help people earn money for the Ruh. But at the same time, it's not a problem if someone of a higher social class goes into them. Sorry if I made it seem like it was a problem. I was just kind of thinking aloud and such. And if I'm being honest, I'm probably not even going to take my own advice for what the Edema Ruh should do. There is a certain field I would really like to study, and I'm going to working my hardest on getting into it. I can't blame anyone else for gunning for a field they really like, despite whether or not it's the most optimal play for their social class or not. Ultimately, people should play the way that they feel is best for them. I know all too well what it's like to get attacked for playing a way that is different than what other people think should be done. Should've known better than to phrase my argument the way I did.

Ryykal had sat and listened to the pianist play for awhile. He was very quite good, even despite the poorly tuned piano affecting the quality of the music. He was very good at figuring out what keys to play when the right key made the wrong note. Very impressive. For now though, Ryykal was once again walking through the snow, shivering as the bitter cold bled through his thin coat and wool shirt. He'd lost track of time listening to the pianist play, and he really needed to get to class before he was late. Once he arrived, he saw that there was an open seat in the back near a group of students who were talking a bit too loud. He quickly glanced around to see if there were any other open seats, then saw someone take the last other open seat. Drat, he thought to himself, guess I'll just have to sit next to that group of students and hope I can focus on the teacher instead of them. He sat next to them and began trying to listen to the teacher, but found himself lost in thought as he listened to their conversation. They were talking about what they were going to study, whether or not they should visit Imre. It was all too distracting because these were things he needed to think about too. Do I want to study the arcane arts? Or rhetorics? Or maybe linguistics? He thought to himself. Ugh, I just don't know! ~ Okay, I missed a lot. There was a whole lot of talking about math and probabilities and stuff, which I kinda just glossed over because I read the third and fourth pages at almost 2 am last night. Other than that, I think people have mostly covered a lot of my thoughts on things. We need to spread the votes out as much as possible (for now) to not risk anyone getting expelled or anything. I'm going to vote on Stink because he's a commoner without a vote on him yet and because I need those sweet, sweet tuition reductions. I think the most important thing for people to do right now is figure out the best way for them to get money. For the Edema Ruh, I think our best bet is going for the Talent Pipes as soon as possible. I think the best options for fields to go into for the Edema Ruh are Arithmetics, Alchemy, and Artificery. These give the best chances for reducing tuition costs and some of them give you the ability to make items to sell on the black market. Higher classes should probably go into things like Naming, Sympathy, etc. since they can afford to take the burden of a higher tuition unlike the Ruh. Plus, that way, they give the Ruh a better chance at getting into a field where they can start earning more money/spend less money on tuition.

Ryykal Ladzo hated the snow. It got all over his clothes and in his shoes, and he couldn't afford anything much warmer than the thick wool shirt and the cheap coat he'd...found near his parents' house. He'd have to find a way to dry it all again so he could wear it the next day. Studying was going to be impossible if he had to keep cleaning all of his clothes over and over again. He could barely afford to go to the University as it was, so having many pairs of clothes wasn't super feasible for him. As he was trudging his way through the snow-covered paths through the University, he heard some piano music coming from a nearby building. The poor piano was severely out of tune, but whoever was playing it was pretty good. Already, his fingers itched to feel the delicate keys of a well-used piano again. His family had saved up as much money as they possibly could to pay for him to receive piano lessons as a child. They were surprised by his natural affinity to the instrument, and even more so by his ability to pick up other instruments as well. Practicing the lute, flute, and other instruments on his own had been hard, but it was the best he was able to do since his parents couldn't afford lessons with multiple teachers. Ryykal had gotten lost in his thoughts and hadn't even realized he'd gone on a detour towards that building. I can take a quick stop to listen for a bit, he thought to himself. Maybe even play for a bit....

Hmmm. I guess I could just not go to university, but I would very much like to have access to some of the fields. You see, your advice is pretty good. It'd just be more helpful if I actually understood anything about the world.

Whelp, I was hoping to be at least a commoner, but I can work with this. Just have to figure out how to cover my tuition, then I'm all set. I'll probably be going to try for my Talent Pipes as soon as I can, after a couple turns of practicing or so. I was hoping to try and get elevated in a certain field sooner rather than later, but it wouldn't be super helpful to try and stay in the University since I can't even afford it anyway right now. Hence, this post. I need to get as many tuition reductions as I possibly can. Anyone wanna help me come up with some ideas of what to RP so I can get those sweet, sweet tuition reductions? Anyway, I do think it is imperative that, unless you really, really suspect someone of being a Skindancer, you shouldn't vote on any Edema Ruh. It's already hard enough as is for us to afford going to this school, we don't need tuition inflation on top of that to hinder us. I know you guys like to lynch me on C1/C2, but maybe you could hold off from doing that just this once? Also, I've already hit the 200 word limit, but I would just like to say that I am so excited to play this game. I know nothing about the world and I am going to mess things up so bad because there's no way I can remember all the rules. But, it is going to be so much fun.

If you get to 15 EP spent in a field without getting elevated once, do you immediately become master and unlock all the abilities in that field? Or is the 15 EP requirement only applicable once you’re an El’the (or whatever rank is before Master)? @Elbereth @little wilson

Well, the signups for the next LG should be going up in the next couple days or so. However, that game is going to be very, very complex. I wouldn’t recommend any new players try to play it, but if you already have experience with Mafia, you could read the rules when the signups are posted and see if you think you could handle it. If you wanna wait a little bit longer, the current Medium Range (MR) will be over in about a week or so. And the signups for the next Quick Fix (QF) will go up after that.

Mid-Range Game 41 / Anonymous Game 8: Lord of Chaos
StrikerEZ replied to Fifth Scholar's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Semirhage glanced around her as she snuck through the small village in Amadicia she’d found herself in. She’d heard rumors of the Dragon being here through her network of darkfriends, and she was finally ready to take him out. He’d slipped from her grasp too many times now, and she had the perfect trap for him this time. She heard a sound behind her, and she quickly readied some weaves, searching around her for someone touching saidar. It seemed to be an eternity of waiting and listening before she decided it must’ve been nothing. Just in case, she set up some protective weaves around her. There may not have been someone using saidar nearby, but one of Lews Therin’s Asha’man would be undetectable to her. The building she’d been looking for seemed rundown and abandoned, but she could see several guards nearby. Granted, they were trying to appear to not be guards, but she knew better. Lews Therin would know better than to go anywhere without guards. She prepared several weaves of fire, then set them off towards each of the guards. None of them were able to set off the alarm, so she strode into the building, preparing a weave of balefire to use on Lews Therin. The building was empty, to her surprise. Before she could begin careful unraveling her balefire weave, a surge of fire caught her from behind. She hadn’t even felt the weave being made before it was too late. Amber Vulture was lynched!
