To put pressure on them so they'll have a reason to get on and say something. And at that point you can decide whether to keep your vote on them or not, depending on how they act when they show up. I normally do it for that reason, if I do it at all. Sometimes, assuming you're tagging them when you poke vote them, it serves as a reminder for them to get on the game. I'm not sure why I understand why you're voting for TJ, or why Ventyl is voting for Joe, or why Araris just voted for Ventyl. I don't really see much of a reason to vote on anyone yet.

First, I'm gonna ask Straw some questions. @Straw If/when PMs are open, are group PMs allowed? Can someone who is already a Radiant become someone else's squire? If Player A is using Abrasion on themselves, Player B targets Player A with Progression, and Player C targets Player A with a kill while using Gravitation, what happens to Player A? I really don't think there's very good way to coordinate the Illumination actions. Depending on the distribution, we probably have at least two people with it, maybe a third if we have two of either the Lightweavers or Truthwatchers (if we have two of either of them, I'm leaning towards Truthwatcher being doubled). The best way to do it is probably the way you said, but even then, what if all of our Illumiation users are in the top half of the player list, for example? It's just gonna be really tricky to coordinate it, until at least one of them makes a squire. Though the squire could just end up getting the other surge, and then the Radiant has to try again. This. The elims are just dying to know who the village Radiants are, so at best you should only claim to someone you scan as village or someone who mechanically must be a villager (which won't really be possible to figure out until the late game). Also, I think we probably have 5-6 elims, though I'm leaning towards 6, since that would be exactly 25% and I like that exactness. I think we can basically rule out any Dustbringers/Skybreakers as elims, though, obviously, please don't publicly claim these roles, at least not now. There's not enough protects in this game to guarantee that you'll survive at that point, and the elims have no reason not to try and kill you every night. As for what Radiants they might have, I'm thinking Windrunner, Edgedancer, and Stoneward are probably the most useful for the elims. Windrunner and Stoneward both have a vote manipulation ability and an ability that doesn't do basically the same thing for their second surge (i.e. Bondsmith). Windrunner and Edgedancer both have the ability to make it so an action can't be prevented, which is great for the elim kill. And Edgedancer has the protection as well. So, I think those are the three orders that are most likely to be elims. Granted, Straw could've gone completely crazy and giving them like a Lightweaver or something.

Tinoka had grown fond of Alethkar, even despite the unfortunate circumstances of her arrival there. It really had been quite unfortunate timing, this Desolation. Of course the entire world would start ending right as she was making her way to Kholinar as part of a dignitary group to discuss Azir-Alethkar relations. Then, the Everstorm blew in just after the passed Kelethar, and everything fell apart at that point. Tinoka had just barely survived the raid on their group by the flying parshmen, and had eventually found another group of refugees making their way towards the Shattered Plains and after that Urithiru. They had just arrived at the camps near the edge of the Shattered Plains, and they were about to begin their journey towards the Oathgate in the middle of the plains. She hoped they would survive their long and treacherous journey. If you can't tell, Tinoka is my RP character.

Oh yeah, this is definitely fine. People have done stuff like this all the time! @Orlok Tsubodai Has a character (I believe his name is Locke Tekiel) that he plays in most Scadrial games, and maybe some other games? Having characters in multiple games (despite dying) is not a new thing!

To be fair, in a rerun, I’d like to make the Archivist mechanic completely different. I would like to try and figure out how to make it work in a tapping/storing system. If I can’t, I am open to suggestions on how to improve it as it is. I do think the randomness of the Archivist ability is a bit hard to plan around. That’s part of the fun of random things like that, but randomness does tend to negatively affect the elims in situations like this. To be fair, alignment was specifically something the Archivist couldn’t find. @Young Bard handled all of the Archivist actions, and while I have a general idea of how he did it, he could probably explain it better than I could.

Mid-Range Game 43: Death Comes As The End
StrikerEZ replied to Kasimir's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oooo, okay, I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. I'll be signing up as Variel Ulring, a quiet man who spent some time at the same university as Talbot while studying the histories of pre-Catacendre Scadrial.- 421 replies

Hmm, I'm not completely sure about this idea, but I could totally see it working. I'll think about it. I really liked this idea. It's something I will probably implement in a rerun of this game. The dead original Kandra probably shouldn't be allowed to have the spec doc in that case though, right? I wish I'd made more items. I was thinking about adding a bribe to the black market, where you can either change someone's vote or redirect their action (because redirects are so much fun ). Would it make sense to have the bribe be able to do both of those things, or should I just pick one? Maybe make something else for a redirect, which I really wish I'd had more of in this game. Oh yeah, I definitely regret the way I did the bulletproof vest. In a rerun, the vest would absolutely be just a one time use. Way too many players had them at the end, and it would've made it near impossible for Mist to win, even if she hadn't been lynched. I think the price relative to the other items is fine as it is if it's just a one time use item. Yeah, I do think I'll want to try and spice up some of the roles we've got right now for feruchemy. I was on a bit of a time crunch when I was making those, so some of them aren't really as good as I would like, but they're alright. One thing I would like to do is either find a way to make iron and copper work with the tapping/storing mechanic, or go through and make some of the other feruchemy roles just basic role actions. I do like how most of the roles turned out. I definitely wanna improve on the Spinner, and I think make some changes to the Gasper as well. But otherwise, I am really glad with how all of these roles turned out. I was really nervous about a lot of them, and they turned out great! This. I learned from Mailliw for my first game I ran, and one thing I really liked that he taught me was to be extra weird with role distribution. Never, ever, make your reads based on distribution of roles in a game, especially if I'm the GM. This is something that I wish I'd done. I didn't think of it while I was putting the game together, but it would've been so much fun if I had. Also, I'd be interested to see that list! I really liked the boxing and items mechanic too. I think one thing I would do differently is change up the ways that you can get boxings. For example, Drake suggested something like if you reach x number of words of discussion/RP in a cycle, then you get an amount of boxings based on that number. Would make it a bit easier to format the Gasper role around that, which is one I was really excited about. It's sad that both of our Gaspers died pretty early too. I really love that this game could be run in so many different ways depending on the way I distribute the roles. It's part of what makes me want to rerun it as much as possible. You are right that some of the feruchemy roles would need to be changed to at least add some more diversity to the roles. If you have any ideas for what to do with some of them, feel free to let me know. Yup, it was definitely way too powerful. Like I said above, I would absolutely be changing it to just a one time protection instead of up to 3. That was just way too overpowered. Hey, I think you did a really good job as the Kandra, especially for your first game. Don't sell yourself short! It was so much fun to watch you play. I was rooting for you the whole time. It's one of my favorite things about SE, and especially running games. It's so much fun to see things happen and see how things could've played out differently if things slightly changed. Now for some thoughts of mine that aren't prompted by other people's posts. First off, I'd like to give a huge thank you to @Elbereth for helping me with the spreadsheet. You and Bard built that thing and managed to keep me from breaking it too much and helping me when I did anyway. This game would not have gone as smoothly as it did without your help, even if we did have a few hiccups at the beginning. Also, I'd like to give a huge thank you to @DrakeMarshall for rambling with me in the spec doc for hours, which ultimately led to us coming up with an entire new game that we're hoping to run someday. That night was so much fun, even if I stayed up several hours later than I should've. I've already given a lot of my thoughts about the game and the balancing in this thread, this post, and in the doc already, but I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who played and helped me run this game. None of it would've been possible without you guys, and I had an absolute blast running this game. It was so much fun to see everyone enjoying themselves while they were playing, even if things didn't always go how they wanted. It was so much fun to see players that haven't been around for ages come back and also to see a bunch of newer players join and do really really well. I'm excited to play games with all of you again someday, and even more excited to be your GM someday.

Mid-Range Game 43: Death Comes As The End

Quick Fix 45: To Set an Example
StrikerEZ replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thank you @Orlok Tsubodai and @Arraenae for running this fantastic game! It was a blast to play and you guys did a really great job with all the write-ups! @Fifth Scholar @Eternum I feel absolutely betrayed. I trusted you guys so much and couldn’t get that out of my head. Good job to you guys for that. And congrats to @Ashbringer for completely avoiding my suspicions, even if I didn’t particularly trust you. Good job @Frozen Mint for managing to wiggle your way out of the lynch many many times. @Gears Congrats for playing a really amazing first game, and for having some really fun monologues in the spec doc. I’m excited to see how you do in future games! Good job to all the new players (@Vapor @MysticLotus @The_Truthwatcher) for playing really well in their first game! I can’t wait to see how you do in the future. This game was an absolute blast, even if I was absolutely so confused every single cycle till I died. I guess I’m glad that the elims felt they needed to kill me at the end there, so maybe I was doing alright actually.- 589 replies

Yeah that makes sense. Also I think the game I was thinking of was LG34, not LG35. Maybe.
-
Did I mix up who made which game? I don't even remember which game I'm talking about anymore.
-
It was a limit on everyone. Or are you specifically talking about Mat's game?
-
If you're looking for ideas on how to do a resource management thing with allomancy, I'm pretty sure it was in LG35. I can't remember the specifics, but you could get vials of different metals, and you could only use your ability if you had that metal.

Quick Fix 45: To Set an Example
StrikerEZ replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and vote on Frozen Mint. The fact that they've survived so many lynches at this point just really sets me on edge. I think she's our best shot at lynching an elim at this point. Also, if we're going to suddenly change lynches, could we maybe do it soon? I'll be gone for most of the rest of the cycle.- 589 replies

Quick Fix 45: To Set an Example
StrikerEZ replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ah, you’re right. I forgot about the elim kill, which would bring it down to 4 against 3 next cycle if we manage to lynch an elim this cycle. At this point, we have to lynch elims every cycle or else we lose.- 589 replies

There’s also the elim kill. Even if we lynch an elim this cycle, it’ll be 5 against 3 next cycle. And if we mislynch next cycle, we’re right back to LyLo.- 589 replies

Quick Fix 45: To Set an Example
StrikerEZ replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, seeing as they’re also a brand new player, we can’t really know if that’s their normal playing style or not. Most players, in my experience, tend to develop their play style after they get a few games under their belt first. This could very well end up being their normal play style, but we won’t know exactly for sure until a few games from now. Right now, I could get behind a Mint or Lotus lynch. Maybe a Straw lynch if enough people want to do that. But whatever we decide to do, it has to be pretty unanimous because we have to be at LyLo at this point.- 589 replies

Quick Fix 45: To Set an Example
StrikerEZ replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I’ll admit I don’t have much else on Mint specifically, besides what I’ve already said this cycle and in previous cycles. For now, I’m willing to vote on someone that other people are willing to vote on, and that doesn’t seem to be Frozen Mint. As for other players, there are three people I’m fairly confident that are village, besides for myself of course. Eternum, Fifth, and TJ. I tunneled really hard on TJ, and he didn’t really buckle under the pressure like I would expect, and there also wasn’t any hardcore defenses of him, so I don’t think he’s an elim. Eternum and Fifth have been doing a lot of really sound analysis, even if it hasn’t exactly led anywhere. But neither has mine. So I’m going to trust them for now. Of the players that remain, I’d be most willing to vote for Devotary. I was trying to write off her last minute votes as just her play style, but it’s conveniently led to several villagers getting lynched and causing a lot of paranoia. So for now, she’s my best bet for a member of the elim team. As for the rest of the team, I’m thinking it’s Mint, Straw, Lotus, and Vapor.- 589 replies

Whelp, I think it’s LyLo now. We obviously didn’t have 6 elims since the game is still going, so that means half of the rest of you are elims. Frozen Mint. I think it’s time we finally lynch her, as she’s been avoiding the lynch for so many cycles now.- 589 replies

Well, we never decided what all the medallions were since Pyro died and couldn’t buy one. And with the spikes, we decided what spikes were available about when you said you were going to buy one. I think the remaining spikes were Steelrunner, Soulbearer, Pulser, Nicroburst, and the Connector spike that Mage made and then sold.
-
I don’t think we ever decided that since you were dying anyway.

Why do you feel so strongly about lynching me? I remember reading your reasoning for it at the end of C3, but that was after it happened and I was mostly skimming and I don't quite remember it very well.- 589 replies
