  1. Thanks! I was so proud of my performance, even with the couple mistakes I made. I feel so relieved after finally releasing all that stress that'd been building up over this contest. Also...I just finished WoR. Holy cow. That was amazing.

    Vasher/Zahel

This is gonna be really spoiler-y if you haven't read Warbreaker or at least the first half of Words of Radiance. Okay, so I'm about halfway through Words of Radiance right now, and I sadly know that these two people are the same (I tried to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but oh well). I wanna know how the heck Vasher got from Nalthis to Roshar. Obviously, he did it by going through the Cognitive Realm, but how was he able to access it on Nalthis? As far as I remember, there was never any mention of a shardpool on Nalthis (though I guess logically, there should be one). I guess Vasher could've just found this shardpool in order to become a worldhopper, but that feels too easy almost. Would it be possible for him to Command an Awakened object to take him to the Cognitive Realm? Also, did Vasher go to Roshar before or after Warbreaker?
  3. Absolen was a strange man, and an even stranger guard. He didn't seem to fit in with any of the other guards, yet he managed to get to know all of them. Well, as well as someone would get to know any accomplice, for that matter. Absolen stared out at the mists, in one of his moods when he decided he didn't want to be bothered. The mists didn't frighten him like they did most common men, but Absolen at least knew to be wary of the mists. He'd seen things in the mist and had learned how to survive in the mists, but he knew how dangerous they could be. Especially if there were allomancers involved. Of course, after what he'd been through, he'd never again be truly afraid of the mists. Not after Valora.

    Kelsier

    Why is this so good?!
  5. I'm about halfway through Words of Radiance and I'm loving it so far! It's soooooo good. I love the way Shallan's character has changed so drastically, but it feels right at the same time. I'm still confused about how Surgebinding and the orders work, but there's always the Ars Arcanum.
  6. I just got back from Austin after going down yesterday for the UIL State Solo Contest. I got a 1 on my solo! 1 is the best, by the way. Oh, also, I'm a little past halfway through Words of Radiance. Yesterday was a good day.
  7. So, I was in the shower, and I came up with something. Branderson. When you're too lazy to say Brandon Sanderson, but don't want to just say Brandon or Sanderson.
  8. So, I'm about 200-ish pages into Words of Radiance right now. Loving it so far. I'm gonna have plenty of time to read it tomorrow, as I'm driving down to Austin from the general Dallas area, which is about 3 and a half hours, probably more with traffic.

    Hi!

Hey, welcome to the Shard! 1. Mistborn: The Final Empire, The Way of Kings (though Words of Radiance might replace that once I finish it) and Warbreaker 2. Kelsier, Siri, Kaladin 3. Scadrial, preferably Fullborn (Mistborn and full feruchemist), but if I could only be a Twinborn, I'd be a Coinshot/Sparker 4. Definitely Wax/Steris. Even though they're already a ship, but whatever.
  10. Novels: Mistborn: The Final Empire The Way of Kings Warbreaker The Hero of Ages The Bands of Mourning The Alloy of Law The Well of Ascension Shadows of Self Elantris Novellas: Secret History Sixth of the Dusk The Emperor's Soul Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell Short Stories: Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania; Episodes 28-30 The Hope of Elantris The Eleventh Metal If I included White Sand, the graphic novel version, it'd go before Elantris. I haven't read the prose version yet.
  11. If you want your room to look nice, you've got to have the right Dahkor.
  12. Why do white girls always hang out in odd numbered groups? Because they can't even.
  13. Oh, I know. I like the idea that he's a guard undercover. Sorry, this is my first time doing something like this, so I'll probably be asking lots of questions and floundering around.
  14. Wait, I realized I made my character a skaa farmer...that might be a problem. Is it fine if I change him to a skaa crew leader?
  15. I vote @Mestiv
  16. @Sunbirb Woah, I'm honored. I didn't think you'd actually change your name because of the joke. That's some true commitment right there.
  17. So, I'm not sure exactly when this was, but I think it was in eighth grade. I was looking for a new book in the library, and the libraria, a really nice slightly older lady, pointed out Steelheart to me. I was hooked, and from there I went on to read The Rithmatist. I didn't read any other Sanderbooks for awhile, until last December, I remembered The Reckoners and started searching up stuff about it, mainly because I'd heard about Apocalypse Guard. Then I discovered this website, the Cosmere, and finally Mistborn (and the rest of the Cosmere).
  18. I will support the baking of a Sentient Awakaned Object. I'm assuming it will be Awakened after it's baked.
  19. When you work out, you burn fat and calories, right? What Allomantic powers do they give?
  20. @Sunbird From now on, I shall only use the word 'birb' when talking about birds.
  21. Yeah, I gotchu. That's what I meant. Guess I just didn't phrase it very well. Also, it's weird how I instantly think of it as rip, not r-i-p (the first being the word rip, the second saying each letter). I wonder how we started using the shorter version, instead of the longer version.
  22. Well then. Did he know about R.I.P. (as in Rest In Peace) and was just confused by the pronounciation, or did he really not know what it meant?
  23. Yay! Unlike you, Elantris was one of the first books (after the first Mistborn trilogy) that I read from the Cosmere. Now I'm to the point where I only need to read Words of Radiance. Then Edgedancer. Then I will finally be done with every published Cosmere book as of now.
  24. Hiya! Welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a cookie! DISCLAIMER: Eating the cookie may or may not result in major blood less and/or death a sugar rush, and The Dark Alley is not liable for any or all damage done to the recipient of this cookie I suggest that you read Mistborn next! It's one of my favorite Cosmere books, and the magic system is just so darn cool!
