  1. I know, I wasn't complaining. I was just...surprised. I wish there was a word for 'being surprised' or 'acting surprised'.
  2. Hey, I'm on the top contributors for this week! That's never happened to me before! Unless it has happened, and I was just too stupid to even notice. I feel proud, even though I'm not quite sure what I've done that's been upvote-worthy, but oh well. Everyone should upvote this to bump me even higher.
  3. Oh! That's really cool! I loved that game! And the sequels too! I still haven't read the books yet, so shame on me.
  4. Aw man, that sucks. I hate it when I get sick, which actually doesn't happen very often, but it still isn't very pleasant. The last time I got sick, I ended up throwing up a couple times, and I hate throwing up. Of course, who doesn't? Also, I know this isn't the right place to ask this, but what is your avatar picture?
  5. Every time I hear something about riots now, I freak out and yell, "Where's my aluminum hat?!?" When I hear someone mention any of the allomantic metals, I immediately think of the Metallic Arts, and then I realize that they're actually talking about the real metal itself.
  6. If I can know whether or not I'll live to see the end would determine my answer. If I would live long enough, I wouldn't want the end spoiled. If I wouldn't, I would want the end spoiled for me (preferably with a little explanation of what led to the end). Would you rather be a Bronze Compounder or a Bendalloy Compounder?
  7. You see, it's because human she have given the common cold the worst name ever, because it doesn't necessarily involve cold. I propose that we should change it to the common sick.
  8. I think the BBcode you're looking for is [sup ] tm [/sup ] without those spaces. So, soontm
  9. I love all of Brandon's books, especially Stormlight Archive. I'd prefer to just have them all be equal, but if I had to choose a favorite, I'd be either Warbreaker or WoR. Maybe The Hero of Ages too.
  10. Hmm...I didn't know that about real aluminum bullets. I'd assume it's like Agent34 said, but then I think if any of the bullet wasn't aluminum, you could still Push/Pull it. Of course, if just an outer layer of aluminum is enough to block Investiture, then I think the outer layer of the bullet could just be aluminum, while the bullet itself is some other metal. Honestly, this is a pretty good question, probably one better suited for the theorists over in the theory section or in the Q&A section.
  11. Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a cookie! I swear it's not spiked delicious! Also, I think it's so cool when family members can all read and enjoy books, which is absolutely the case with Brandon's books. He has a little bit of everything in his books, and I think everyone can find at least one book of his to like. Which book is your favorite? And which one is your son's favorite?
  12. Oh, I know. Sorry if I wasn't clear, sometimes I forget that it's just mental speed, not mental capacity. But still, I think that, if such a combo did exist, they'd at least learn the basics of calculating trajectory, so they could use it in a pinch. But, I do agree, unless you were already good at math-I'm okay, but not that good-Zinc while steelpushing wouldn't help you too much.
  13. I've always found that, even as a guy, I tend to be able to communicate with girls better than guys (at least through text). I guess I'm just not all that close with very many of my guy friends, so I always feel awkward texting them, which is also partially because I don't text them enough. As for my girl friends, I don't know why, I've found that I'm better at getting my thoughts across to them better than with guys, and I tend to relate to girls more than guys. Of course, girls can still be really confusing to me, mainly in person but less so in texts. The one thing I hate is that both guys and girls seem to take forever to respond to texts. Like, we'll be in the middle of a conversation, and then they won't answer for like an hour. It gets really annoying. Of course, there are exceptions to this, a major one being my ex-boyfriend. He responded to texts really fast, even well before we started dating. Oh, and there was this one girl that was better than most, though she would disappear every now and then. Sorry for the rant, I forgot whichever topic I was in.
  14. I've been trying to get my little brother to read Mistborn for awhile now. At first, I wasn't too crazy about recommending it too him, but it got to the point where he was tired of me telling him to read it, I was pretty sure he would never read it. Then I finally managed to get him to read past the first couple of chapters, and now he's hooked. I'm so happy!
  15. Welcome to the Shard! It's always nice to see a new face, have an upvote. As for aluminum bullets, I'm not sure. I don't think duralumin can't be Pushed/Pulled, so I don't think aluminum alloys would have the same Investiture resistance as pure aluminum. As for its availability and practicality, I have no idea. Seems to be really expensive. Also, which book has been your favorite so far? Personally, I've loved all of them so far (except maybe Elantris, though it wasn't too bad), but if I had to choose a favorite, it'd be either Warbreaker or WoR. Edit: Almost forgot, have a cookie! It's totally not spiked!
  16. I think a better combo would be Pewter/Bronze. You just store tons of wakefulness during the night (can you store while sleeping? That'd make things easy) and then, you always have enough wakefulness in case you have to do a pewter drag. Steel/Zinc would be cool, as you could become incredibly skilled with your steelpushing, probably as skilled as Kelsier or Zane. Plus, you could calculate the perfect trajectory for flight as you're in the middle of flying, and you'd know exactly when to drop coins/metal, how hard to Push, when to Push, etc. I posted this somewhere else, but an Iron Compounder would be absolutely terrifying. Just store tons and tons of weight, then tap it all at once, making yourself super heavy, then you have enough weight to Pull a plane straight out of the sky. Of course, you'd probably die as well, but makes for a good terrorist. Or, if you want to survive, have an unkeyed metalmind with tons of speed stored in it. Bronze/Tin would make it quite easy to find Allomancers, as you'd be able to feel where they are, then use your tinmind(s)'s senses to find them faster. Would it be possible to store your sense of Seeking in a tinmind? Because then you could tap it and be able to more closely tell what type of metal they're burning, where they are, and maybe even be able to sense feruchemists. Chromium/Steel would be good to have in a fight with tons of Allomancers, as they could just speed over to the enemies and Leech away their metals and grab their metal vials. Not much else to say. Cadmium/Chromium. You could just pop up a bubble, tap some Fortune, then wait with a gun out until someone you need to kill gets in your bubble. Or, you could wait for anything, really. I just like these sillier combos. I love coming up with Twinborn combos. It's so much fun!
  17. Seeker. I've taken this several times, and I got that every time. I'd prefer something cooler, though I guess I could leave with Bronze.
  18. Shhh, don't listen to her, the cookies are perfectly safe! ...don't mind the voices....
  19. Yo, I like this first post. Upvote for you! Have a cookie! It's amazingly spiked delicious!
  20. So, I really like your theory, but this is the only part I'm not quite sure about. We know that the Shades were there before the Evil came to the homeland, so I'm not sure if it's safe to assume that the Evil is the same type of Investiture as what's in the Forests of Hell. I could get behind the idea that the Forests' Investiture started creating Shades when Ambition was splintered there, though that doesn't explain the Evil on the homeland later. Besides that, I really like you theory. I'll let others have the pleasure of tearing it apart.
  21. This order's pretty good, though I'd read Elantris after Warbreaker instead. EDIT: For clarification, that's because there's a little tidbit from Stormlight that makes more sense with Elantris knowledge. However, you can really read it in any order. I actually read Elantris before any of the other Cosmere books after Mistborn and I read Era 2 Mistborn before Stormlight, so it doesn't really matter when you read it.
  22. 10 reasons to get Breath! #9 will shock you!
  23. Hello, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote! Also, don't listen to that guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about, the cookies are spiked delicious! Take one! If I were you, I'd read Warbreaker next. It's definitely one of my favorites.
  24. Hurt Abrasion, Heal Gravitation Gravitation -- 27 Abrasion -- 9
  25. I'm currently reading Wrath of the Storm by Jennifer A. Nielsen, the last book of the Mark of the Thief trilogy. It's definitely no Sanderson book, but it's really, really good. It's set in Rome, about 300-ish years after Julius Caesar, and it involves lots of overpowered magic, magical creatures, and gods. It's really cool.
