  1. I think Spark is a normal ashpren. She just doesn’t want to be associated with the Knights Radiant because she saw what it did to all of her friends the last time around. Personally, I think it’d be really cool if Malata and Spark see Odium destroy some spren and then realize that they really should be working against Odium as much as possible.
  2. At the rate the Diagram is going, she’ll probably die a (supposedly) deserved death after working against the heroes or whatever. Personally, I’d find that really boring if Brandon did that. I hate it when the villains die in movies and everyone’s like “yay!” Especially when they get “what they deserved.” Like, no, no one deserves to get eaten alive by a terrifying dinosaur. I’m looking at you, Jurassic Park/World.
  3. Personally, I think Malata is really interesting. If I wrote SA, she’d get the Dustbringer book instead of Shalash. That’s mainly because I think it’s stupid for Heralds to get flashback books, though I’ll probably change my mind once we reach one of them. EDIT: Also, I really like Gaz and Vathah.
  4. Oh, I must’ve not noticed that. Sorry. I’d love to see a dark, tragic backstory for Malata, but we probably won’t get any PoV from her to learn about it in, and she doesn’t seem the type to open up about that, so I doubt we’ll ever learn about it. If it exists at all. If it doesn’t, then she’s probably broken on the level of like Lopen.
  5. I mean, this is true, to an extent. But I think many people take needing to be “broken” way too far. Just because all of our main characters so far have been really broken doesn’t mean that you need to be that level of broken in order to bond a spren. For Lopen, his brokenness could be as simple as having the initial trauma of losing his arm, even if he’s now gotten over that.
  6. I’m the opposite. I really love her humor. Yeah, her backstory is interesting, but her humor is probably the best part of her character for me. Though I can totally relate to not understanding a joke or something funny as well. I just really like that sardonic, snappy type of humor.
  7. His plan was to get TLM done before the end of last year so it could come out sometime this year or next year, but that didn’t end up working out. You can read more about that on Brandon’s website. Just look for the post called “State of the Sanderson.”
  8. Personally, my favorite was definitely OB. WoK is a very close second because of how epic the Tower battle was, plus the reveal that the Voidbringers are actually the parshmen/parhshendi (except sike later on ). But OB had the culmination of all of Dalinar’s guilt and pain with the epic refusal to be Odium’s Champion when it seemed like he was gonna give in. Plus the entire battle that followed after was freaking amazing.
  9. You’re welcome! Also, just a tip, try not to double post. It’s against the forum rules.
  10. There’s a WoB that talks exactly about this. I’ve put it in the spoiler below because it’s really long.
  11. @IcaroRibeiro Cultivationspren aren’t highspren, they’re True spren. Highspren are the spren for the Skybreakers.
  12. I personally loved reading Oathbringer. I didn’t even have a hard time reading Shallan’s chapters. Yes, I was frustrated while reading them, but they weren’t slow for me.
  13. All we know is that one of them is not like the others. I don’t think we have any concrete information on their numbers.
  14. Yeah, but we don’t really know what shade of purple it’ll be, and I’m sure @Mailnaise wants it to be as exact as possible.
  15. I don’t know if you know this already, but Brandon is Mormon, so I doubt he’s experienced something like what Jasnah’s experienced. However, if you meant if Brandon has experienced something like Dalinar’s questioning of faith, I’m sure he has. He seems the type to not just take the word of his teachers and really learn and think for himself about the religion.
  16. I honestly don’t understand why you hate Renarin so much. What’s so bad about him?
  17. It’s not really irrational, I’m just using different criteria for why they should be in a relationship than you are. However, I have talked in the past on specifics of in-book reasons why I think they work together, but neither of us agree with each other’s interpretations, so that’s just an endless argument I don’t want to start right now. Anyway, I guess I didn’t phrase what I meant very well. Personally, I don’t find the “prince gets the girl” trope as annoying as the “main male and main female characters get together” trope. The latter annoys me so much more, so it was refreshing to see the main female character end up with someone besides the main male character.
  18. Like @Watchcry said, it was almost certainly a use of the surge of Adhesion to create a vacuum around Kaladin and those people, which meant the storm couldn’t affect them. I think that’s the most likely theory, because I don’t know how windspren would even be able to affect the storm that much.
  19. I totally agree with this. Plus, in my opinion, the only thing Shalladin had going for it was the fact that, usually, the male and female leads get together. And there was the chasm scene. But that would’ve happened if you’d shoved any two young, attractive people together in a life or death scenario. Adolin always felt like a much better option to me, simply because he wasn’t the lead male character.
  20. Yeah, I can see what you’re saying about not being excited for Dalinar until Oathbringer. And I’m gonna use that same logic on you. I’m not excited for Szeth’s story right now, but I trust Brandon to write it really well once we get to his book. I just haven’t ever really been interested in Szeth as a character that much. He was starting to get interesting in WoR, but that was because he was struggling with the oathstone and all that jazz. In OB, he felt really boring. But I’m sure he’ll be more interesting by book 5.
  21. The order I like the most when it comes to surges and who they are is the Willshapers. I’m so excited for the next book since it’s the Willshaper book, Eshonai’s book, and Venli will be important in the present day storyline. As for which one I would attract a spren for, definitely Lightweaver.
  22. I really love Kaladin and would be devastated if he died, but I don’t think I would stop reading the series if he did die. It’s kind like how [MISTBORN SPOILERS]
  23. Yeah, yeah, I know. I just said the first thing that popped in my head. It’s basically the same thing. Also, that scene was simultaneously really cool and really weird.
  24. Oh, you got me there. I mean, assuming that the surge of Illumination that Renarin has is the void version.
