Funny enough, Brandon addressed exactly this on Reddit recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/Mistborn/comments/4bnuxt/spoilers_up_to_bom_romance_sex_and_chastity_in/d1bd5ma

...if you mention 17th Shard as a coupon code, you're theoretically supposed to get a discount on Badali purchases...

Once I remember to poke Adam we'll have a transcript of all of Brandon's activities from FanX. I'll try to remember to poke him on Saturday...

So, where did the cookie thing start?
firstRainbowRose replied to Lexodio's topic in General Discussion
I was about to mention that. They originally started as a "welcome to the forum, I'd give you a cookie but I can't see you, so here's a virtual cookie." -
I guess I should probably be part of this. Personally, I vote rubix since I'd love to see his answers...

New York Times Bestseller List

Each adult book since WoA has hot at least top 25. (If I remember correctly WoA got number 22.) Past that, I am not sure. -

Until we have a chance to discuss it further, I would say yes. -
With Flair and Elegance (Forum Game)
firstRainbowRose replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I'm going to break the rules a bit and do the person I do know: CarolaDavar. An energetic, friendly ball of excitement who is as eager to make friends as she is to share her passions with those she has befriended. She channels her passion into art, reflecting the woman of her namesake. -
Thank you all! I was able to grab a complete list, and we'll be putting it into the coppermind shortly.

From past experience it's a more business like con. Though, I haven't been for five years, and the location has changed so the atmosphere may have changed as well. I'd say go serious the first day to feel the waters and adjust from there.

The Official Thread of Relationships
firstRainbowRose replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
My advise, don't stress it. I hated when people said it to me, but it truly is good advise: just be yourself. The people you meet while being yourself will be the ones you develop lasting relationships with (not just romance, but friendships as well.) -
I would say call the bookstore and ask how many they still have. You may be just fine to get one, depending on how many extras they ordered.

Brandon's New Numbered Method
firstRainbowRose replied to Blaze1616's topic in General Brandon Discussion
So... We finished about an hour ago. To explain the difference between just the book (signature and number) versus personalizations. It took us four hours to go through about 600 books with any sort of personalization. We did 400 books where Brandon just did the siggy and number in about 30 minutes. -
I know that there's quite a few topics I made (such as the Guess the... topic) that were specifically in hopes of getting people talking. We had a couple of ideas that never panned out that were specifically supposed to be to help people stay more active.

Wow, you guys really do like your arrows! I would like to step in here and answer a question I've seen pop up a lot, and I don't think has truly been answered. More than a few have asked how the new use devalues the system when compared to the old use. The answer, I think, is in the word chose. Devalue, as in value is now less. Imagine, if you will, someone who has a mental disorder that causes them to be unable to touch a single person. Now imagine that person gave you a hug. The fact that this person took time to do something extra means the world to you. Now, let's have that person get better. They can now hug you each time you meet. A few months later, and they are cuddling, and sitting on your lap, and joking around like there's nothing to it. Which set of hugs will you remember? It won't be those ones at the end where it's a throw away "oh, hi!" It's the ones where they took extra time, and did something that was hard on them. In a similar vein, the votes on the site used to be used to show that you found something of value in a post (that value did very from person to person.) It was something that would stay with you for a period after you moved onto something different. Now, I'm willing to bet most people couldn't tell me what the they spent their last ten upvotes on. There is no need to align the different mentalities. We don't care if you use your upvotes to show appreciation for a meme, or because you are impressed with the time invested in a post. We just want to make sure the votes are used to show it is something you value. As one of the oldest users on the site, I can say I actually love a lot of the new posts. I used to be able to keep up with the theories... and then they went way over my head, and I stop being as active. I can't follow the topics like "random stuff" simply due to time constraints, but one of my favorite topics to follow is the memes thread. But, just like above, I've only given a couple of votes out because I found I valued the content.

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins
firstRainbowRose replied to Zathoth's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Feel free to send me a PM! Seriously, we're always open for a random message! My general feel is knit is for useful things, crochet is for plushies or warm things. (Be warned though: crochet uses up SO MUCH YARN!) -

Hahaha, it's not that bad. Also, it takes forever to get, but the magic ring is the absolute best thing to ever happen to crocheting in a circle. Also, I have just discovered that placing a row marker is actually worth it to avoid the seams. As for which is better... either. Whichever has more of the projects you want to do. Or both. Edit: Yay pattern! I have a friend who wants a mini-vader for Christmas (yes, it's late. He knew it would be), and all the online ones suck! -

Man, I want that book so much, but it's such an expensive kit! I might have to snag one of the patterns from you though. Also, sounds like you're the opposite of me. I started crocheting, then realized all the good looking clothes were knit so I picked up some needles. Switching between the two is so weird! The opposite just feels so weird in your hands. -

Technical might be a stretch... What technique are you needing to figure out? I might be able to point you to a good project. Also, do you know the magic ring? (One last question for pestering: how long have you been at it?) -

I think I would have forgotten about it, except that I am toying with the idea of doing an Across the Universe style thing with David Bowie's music, and it fit into one of the plot points perfectly.
