It's a special blessing. I'm not really supposed to talk about the specifics, because of how personal it is. But it's kind of a big deal.

Note, i will have OB spoilers in this, but I'm just going to stick them in a spoiler tag, because the theory isn't founded on any OB spoilers. It came about while I was thinking about eating a banana. The Banana has a Spiritual identity. But, when you eat it, it becomes part of your spirit web. A very small bit, but what was once a banana is now part of you. Perhaps it helps add to your strength. This process is important to the cosmere, one spirit web "digesting" another. First, Shards. The holding of a shard, which I have previously theorized to be a massive spirit web (it's in my sig), alters the Vessels spirit web, until it has become more like the Intent. Next, Mistborn. When a mistborn consumes metal, it enters them. This is important, because once it is inside of them, it is now inside the spirit web. The spirit web, i imagine, now acts like an enzyme. It either has a universal shape, where it can handle any metal (that's allomantically viable) or a specific enzyme shape, to handle only one metal. Then the metal's spirit web aspect is absorbed into the web, which is then able to connect to Preservation and use whatever allomantic power they are using. Once the spirit web is gone, the power no longer works, because it isn't getting that enzyme shape filled. Lift is a weird one. Her digestion works, and turns nutrition into Stormlight. This is similar to (OB SPOILERS) Lift just gets it turned into loose pieces of Spirit web- which is investiture- which is basically just Stormlight. if she doesn't use it, it'll just disperse or add itself as actual something on the spiritweb. This also why more nutritious food gives more Storm Light- it has more to its Spirit web. Finally, more OB SPOILERS. Note- often times you need a particular Spiritual structure- like an enzyme- to "digest" something, unless it has no identity and stuff attached to it. This also relates to abilities of the body- you aren't going to be able to digest a battery for its spiritual potential, because you don't have the ability to digest- or "digest"- batteries. What I really want to see is what would happen if Lift ate an awakened cookie- *ahem*, an abakened cookie. I think she would get more power out of it because the breath is adding to the cookie's spirit web.
