Quick Fix Game 36/Anonymous Game 5: Dream Thieves
Steeldancer replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ok quick rule establishment while I'm thinking about it. Turn 0, it's fine to post in thread with your real accounts. However, once Turn 1 starts, all thread posts must be using your bodies (anonymous accounts) PMs are coming out as fast as I can type them on an empty stomach. -

Turn 0 "Welcome back to ABC news, live from New York City. With Amazon having officially retracted their intent to build a new headquarters inside Queens, the area Amazon was going to build on has been turned into yet another pizza shop. Also, with the heavy rains expected later this week, grocery stores have been hit hard by crowds of customers expecting the worst. However, our weather models predict the storm going farther north, more towards Vermont. Despite this, the tourism element remains strong, especially with an incoming spring break." --- As promised, the rest of the non-hidden rules will now be revealed. Feel free to ask clarifying questions. The Turn will be over at 10PM MST, 3/5/19, at which point all mayhem will break loose. There is no lynch or actions this turn, just planning and clarifications. Excellent, excellent. @Mailliw73 @Walin Right now, in order to run the game, I will need to start you off as players, but if anyone else joins before the end of signups, you'll be pushed back to pinch hitters. Hope that's alright with you. -
Look, it's not any more fun for me than it is for you. Try sticking them in a separate PM folder. Also, 20 PMs is not thousands.

Freaking heck, I never did get around to doing that analysis did I? And now I have to go set up a game, study for a midterm for tomorrow, and get a bunch of other things done... I'm sorry guys. I'll see if I can get something in later tonight once I finish all the stuff I have to get done this afternoon.

It's very possible Taln directly came from Ashyn; although I'll be interested in seeing about that, because supposedly Ash grew up after the journey from Ashyn, and Taln and Ash were a thing, so, yeah. But Taln is either rosharan or Ashyn, there's no way he came from scadrial. Plus, we don't know enough about Herald torture to really have context for this line. More likely that line is a reference to the Fused burning him, than to the Survivor of the Flames.
-
I wouldn't really count myself as being overly active... I feel useless right now. Mailliw has made more analysis than I have at this point, and he's only been around a turn or so. In my experience, trying to figure out vote manipulation tends to lead in circles, but Devotary does have a good point about the brass. Which is odd, why didn't shane use his own brass? Granted, it might be the same reason I forgot to use my chromium last cycle to try and learn SOMETHING. Honestly, unless I get my act together and actually stop moping about being inactive and start analyzing, I really wouldn't mind being lynched. It might actually give some information, maybe, versus how little I've done to be helpful at this point. I'm going to make a hopeful promise- that next day, I'm going to make an attempt to do some serious analysis and look through all the posts to try and figure something out. I'll try to do this before my game starts running on Sunday. It'll be time consuming, but I want you guys to hold me to this. If I'm going to remain in this game and not be replaced, I should at least contribute something.

That's great that you're suspicious of me for doing this.... but when did this happen? I have absolutely no memory of voting to save Fura. Edit: Huh. That is weird. I vaguely remembered voting to solidify a lynch, but apparently I created a tie, which I have no idea why I did that. I blame it on being brain dead from homework. Also, I'm sad that Shane was the one who got lynched, because he had just popped up and wasn't totally inactive. *sigh*

Lunacy is about right. This format could probably run other rule sets as well... -
Seems fair enough, and since shanerocks popped up (thanks for popping up dude) I think I'll go Ark as well.

Ugh, I should have asked for a pinch hitter before Eternum. I think the max number is 6, with one RNG medallion at day one, and 5 max distributed by the eliminators.

Gah, I'm so inactive at this point it hurts. I wish I could provide a brilliant insight on who to lynch, but I have no been giving this game the attention it deserves, and as a result I don't really know what to do. Anybody got a vote count? [5 minutes of thinking] The thing is, this game is lacking for activity, and with no suspicions at the moment, what I do have is logic. If we kill an active person, that's less discussion, and this game gets even more quiet than it already is. So, while it's not my favorite thing in the world, I'll go Shanerocks @shanerockes, who I don't think has really said anything (which, yes, I know is kind of rich coming from me). My hope is if we focus on killing inactives, our more active people will eventually come up with the analysis we need to win. Not sure what else to do.

Quick Fix Game 36/Anonymous Game 5: Dream Thieves
Steeldancer replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Depending on what conclusion Drought and I come to regarding the exact win condition (you'll understand on day 0), and exactly how the RNG works out, I'd imagine it will take no more than a week. As I said, it should be fairly fast paced. -

Pinch Hitters will be difficult, yes, which is why I'm hoping everyone will stay active as not to necessitate them. I will make sure any pinch hitters will have everything they need, although I'm expecting this game to be somewhat fast paced. All 30 accounts will be utilized for this game. Stranded players are unable to vote or talk in thread. You must have a body in order to interact with others, or take any actions other than hopping. Perma-death is unlikely in this game, if a player is wise with their hops and who they hop into. -

I tried that with the countdown, and had to fix the countdown. Apparently I didn't actually change the initial post. The game will be starting on March 3rd, not on the mysterious date of February 31st. -
Quick Fix 36/ Anonymous Game 5: Dream Thieves "This is ABC News, bringing you the important stories of New York City. We're looking at some warming weather over the next week, perhaps indicating the full return of spring. On Friday it'll even reach a temperature of 49 degrees Fahrenheit, with no storms in sight, although the nights will still stay chilly with lows of 12 degrees in the beginning of the week, getting up to 34 by Friday." "In other updated news, it has been several months since the so called 'Amnesia wave,' in which a group of random people seemed to be affected to fight one another, leaving several dead, and yet every single participant does not remember a thing. Scientists have, as of yet, been unable to determine the cause for this unusual behavior, although they have linked the event to several others that have occurred all across the United States. The public is advised to report any odd activity matching previous descriptions of this 'amnesia wave.' Now, back to our story about yet another political scandal..." _____________ Welcome to QF36: Dream Thieves. This is based on the Sanderson short story "Dreamer," which admittedly is kind of hard to find. If you can find it, I would recommend you read it in advance, but it shouldn't hinder understanding the game if you don't read it. The only thing you need to really know is that it involves body hopping. This game will utilize the Anonymous Accounts, but in a bit of an unusual way, necessitating a couple things that need to be made clear. 1. You will be using multiple anonymous accounts over the course of this game. You cannot, under any circumstances, use any anonymous account that you are not supposed to be in. I will do my best to help with preventing any accidents, but playing this game will require you to be careful about what account you are signing into. 2. Speaking of that, the fact that you will be using multiple accounts in this game will make actions and players extremely difficult to keep track of, even with Droughtbringer helping me out as co-GM. As such, all actions will need to be submitted on your real account, not on the anonymous account you are using at the time. 3. Because of the aforementioned difficulty in keeping track of players, I will be using specific terminology in regards to what regards to what. I will also be keeping track of all players by their actual usernames, and players not wishing to lose their minds are encouraged to use actual usernames with team mates. However, due to the body hopping mechanic, I also will not be confirming the true username of any player unless that player truly dies. 4. Please also abide by all other anonymous account rules, no PMing an out of game player, no changing passwords or anything aesthetic, etc. Rule breakers will be punished severely. I assume. Terminology: Player: the actual person using the account, aka the spirit possessing the body. Body: an anonymous account. Can be possessed by a player. Role: the role that a player will receive in their actual account. Identity: the role that a body will have. Finally, this game will have a hard limit of 16 players. In order for this game to work, I will need activity, and will only allow 2 consecutive turns in a row of inactivity before you will be replaced by a pinch hitter. If you don't think you can be as active as this QF will require, sign up as a pinch hitter. This game will start on 3/3/19, at 10 PM MST. Sign-Up Rules: Player List: 1. Lumgol 2. Coop772 3. Elandera 4. Devotary of Spontaneity/ Somne 5. Itiah 6. Xinoehp512 7. Young Bard 8. Snipexe 9. Randuir 10. Cadmium Compounder 11. Shqueeves 12. Roadwalker 13. Sart 14. Alvron 15. GreenRover Pinch Hitters: 1. Mailliw 2. Walin 3. Spectators: Fura, Shortcuts: Countdown: https://countingdownto.com/?c=2393865

i said I would be active, but since I’m going to end up running the next QF, I’m probably not going to be super active. I’m hesitant to ask for a pinch hitter right now, but I might if it gets bad .

Gah, I should have said something by now. Instead, I watched Superman the animated series all day yesterday like a bum. Anyway, I have no idea what medallions I have at the moment cuz I’m on mobile, I had the medallions I claimed last cycle.

Oh, huh, the nights go for 48 hours. Alrighty then. Again, sorry for not commenting earlier, Thursdays are just my busiest days, especially when I also have to study for an exam I have to take first thing tomorrow morning. ANYWAY, since we just saw bendalloy get used, I'm honestly a bit confused as to how Bendalloy is at all useful. All it really does is make it so we are delayed in getting actual information. Did we actually learn something from this last lynch? I'm not sure, because I haven't been paying enough attention to every detail to know if someone was voting suspiciously. Plus, Cadcom hasn't actually died. Thankfully, day 2 should be a lot easier for me as it is over a weekend, so I should be able to catch up fully on what everyone has said, and maybe even form my own opinions. Until then, I'm going to return to studying.

Just got done with my homework. It is suspicious that we have more than 6 people claiming Aluminum, although I know my own aluminum thing is legit. I also feel that it is WAY to early to declare anyone "cleared." It's day one, guys, everything is still up in the air. While I haven't done my own analysis, and I have other things to do besides that on day one, I think the lynch on Cadcom feels the most compelling, for a day one lynch anyway. Sorry for not adding anything more to the conversation, I want to but I'm not really sure what else to add besides what's already been said. Hopefully getting someone lynched will reveal some information that I can actually feel like I can work with.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Steeldancer replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
I am excited, and I learned that Marshallese is a thing I had never heard of it before today. Apparently there are only about 6,000 speakers of the language outside of the Marshall Islands, so learning such an obscure language is pretty cool. Not sure how useful it'll be outside of the mission field, but hey, whatever. -

I have been called to serve in Fort Worth Texas, speaking Marshallese, of all things. I leave 4 months from today. -
Well, here's how I explain it: I have an aluminum medallion (are they metalminds or medallions? Does it even matter? whatever) and a copper medallion. Either I just happened to get the 2 most boring medallions by RNG, or the elims gave one or both of them to me. If they were given to me by elims, that might indicate they were handing out more useless medallions on purpose for some reason, but at the same time I feel like that wouldn't make sense because if they flood the market of medallions with useless ones, then they're less likely to get useful ones. Not sure what else there is to say on that matter. Oh, and I got my mission call, I'm going to serve in Fort Worth Texas, speaking Marshallese. I leave June 19, so I have another 4 months to still play SE. And run a few more games.

Oh joy of joys. I got aluminum, and copper. How exciting. Anyway, I'm not going to say much until the back half of the cycle for various reasons you may be aware of (ahem mission call). But even if I'm not going to say anything more, we do need to start figuring out a lynch, because otherwise someone will be lynched entirely at random, and honestly what fun is that?
