Random Stuff X: Something Weird
Steeldancer replied to marsoupial's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I've been thinking about changing my name to Steeldancer for a while now... But first I need to finish drawing out the symbol, which is a merger of the edgedancer symbol and the steel symbol. -

If someone could come up with a way for this game to end, that would be great. Maybe when a win condition has been fulfilled?- 713 replies

Ok so last night I had a crazy idea that I need to work out the kinks in, but I think would be really cool. It's based on Inception. So there are 2 factions: the Inception team and the Constucts. Inception team has most of the roles, and is the "elim" team. But here's where it gets fun. They, at the beginning of the game, get to choose how "deep" they will go. the deeper they go, the greater the probability of winning. However, with each level, extra time is added, probably a turn for each level. Going to level 5 would be a 100% chance of successful Inception. They also have to have at least one person survive the game. The constructs win if they prevent the Inception team from winning. So the first turn would be in the top level, and the Inception team would decide how many levels down they think they can go, and have at least one person survive, and have successful inception. The second turn would be in the first level of dream, and would be 1 day. The second level would be 2 turns. 3rd level, 3 turns. Then, once max depth has been achieved, they go back up. 3 turns, 2 turns, 1 turn. I have the vague idea of having an architect, and I, the GM, being the "dreamer." A kick mechanic of some sort may be necessary to make a win possible for the Inception team. I still have to work out the specifics. I also know it's non sanderson, so I'll take care of that eventually. I also have a really cool inception worthy twist. I've also worked out a cool game based on Dreamer, which would probably end up being a quick fix. that is sanderson. It focuses on body hopping from person to person. It's interesting because the bodies aren't cosmere bodies, but normal people bodies, with items like that. I think it would be a cool mechanic. edit: Ok I've been thinking it over some more, and I've worked out a few more details. The Inception team will not have a night kill. Instead, each level will have an architect in the team. I will set up the general set up for each dream level (each one will have the village start off with different items and such. Items will not transfer into other levels). but the architect will have the power to change things (pending my approval). All changes will show up in the Write ups, as each little change calls more attention from the dream constructs... Also, only active people from a dream level will be put into the next dream level. Once Inception has been achieved, the kick will occur, and instead of a pyramid formation in terms of number of turns, it will be 1 turn in each level, ascending until the game ends. If you're confused, I'll explain it again for you in another post. Each turn will have a lynch. I will work on the rest of the team roles, and incorporating the totem item. If an architect dies, the dream will descend to the next level, and when ascending, will only spend one turn in that dream level. I'll try to organize this into something other than discombobulated thoughts.

Idk. I have school starting tomorrow. I'll try to remain active, but between Car shenanigans (I wrecked my car) , work, and school, I might not be as active as I usually am. So, flash . I need to catch up. However, I did have one thought. How does this game end?- 713 replies

There were some other things I wanted to discuss... specifically about the rift probably being the climax of Dalinars flashbacks. I'm also really curious if Dalinar will sort of end up being ruler of roshar, and elkohar will answer to him as king of alethkar. That would probably be the best way to resolve the whole authority issue.
-
I'm fascinated by Kaladins description of having lived 4 lives. I hope next week we get a Shallan chapter. After one more Kaladin chapter. And maybe another flashback.
-
This would make sense. Because ive been wondering "where the heck did the voidbringers go from edgedancer?" They kind of appeared and then disappeared without doing anything. That bothered me.
-
That punch made me laugh so hard. Exactly what I wanted from kaladin. I'm interested in seeing what this vorinic backlash will entail...
-
Holy cow that was also awesome! Married by the Stormfather! Syl has an Aunt! And Kaladin punched Roshone!!!!! I really can't wait until they try to arrest him and he'll be like "nope" and pull out Syl.

Quick Fix Game 26: Stop the Madness
Steeldancer replied to firstRainbowRose's topic in Sanderson Elimination
*ahem* SteelDancer. Not Steelrunner lol. My signature explains who SteelDancer is in theory. I'm actually working on designing a functioning suit (theoretically) and character that will be what I RP. -
Note: I'm going to be doing this here and there, and I'll comment again when I finish. Again, this takes place in the powerkeeper universe. I'll put a link here to the main topic if you haven't read about it before (at some point). The focus of this story is dragons. And I love my dragons. A silver dragon came from the sky. This part of the Dragonlands was not as lush. No dragons actually dwelt here. The silver dragon was visibly with egg. Her wing was badly injured, her scales dull. She had just crossed the gap between moon and planet, and she was exhausted. But she would do whatever it took to save her egg. Dust flew as she impacted wildly into the ground. She could no longer prevent the egg from emerging. A large, golden egg. In just two weeks, it would hatch. She would need to conserve her energy to protect it and feed it. Her wing had been even more badly maimed in the crash. She knew she would not survive. But perhaps she could save her son. Her Sun. Above, the moon shed its light on the Moon dragon, queen of dragons. *3.5 months later* Alexander rode on a dragon, hunting giant magical sloths. Doradons, as the dragons called them. He was now 15. 3 years ago he had picked up the Dragon Saber, the weapon of the legendary Dragon Warrior. It had changed colors in his hand, signaling that he would be a worthy recipient of the power of the dragons. Now normally a dragon warrior would have a bonded partner dragon, signaled by what color the blade turned. But... his blade had turned gold. And there were no gold dragons in the dragonlands. So he had trained, while the council searched for a gold dragon. He now rode on the back of Aquilfer, a water dragon. Supposedly they were patrolling, but very little happened. So most patrols were considered hunts. While dragons were not allowed to hunt other intelligent magical creatures like unicorns or pheonix, doradon were magical but decidedly unintelligent. Like their earth cousins, they were slow. But they were still formidable. Larger than the largest dragons, they were the size of small battleships, if not larger. And they had the ability to go intangible if they detected danger. Stealth was key to hunting it. Alex already knew the plan. Having ridden with all the different tribes at some point or another, he also knew how Aquilfer would want to hunt. So, Alex jumped off of the dragons back. Clearing the wings, he summoned the Dragon Saber. Plunging towards the doradon, it was sure to see him. Alex cloaked himself, focusing his aura through the augmenting Saber. Light now flowed around him, making him truly invisible. The doradon would have no warning. Problem was, he was falling. He had no parachute, no way to stop. Again, he focused his aura through the Saber. This time, he built up a positive magnetic charge in him and in the doradon. It would slow him down, repulsing him. He controlled the charges carefully, so he would not lose total momentum, but also not move so fast as to break himself on impact. When he hit, the sword cut cleanly into the doradon's heart. As the beast began to collapse, Aquilfer struck the head, and tore out the neck. Alex released the spells he had woven. More dragons would come to feed on such a huge animal. Not too many, for they were civilized, and not driven into blood frenzy. Alex cut himself a reasonable portion, and cooked it, using the sword as a microwave emitter. It was a good thing it enhanced his powers, or he probably wouldn't be able to keep up this use of magic. It was meant to stretch his abilities, something the PowerKeepers had taught him during his 3 month training stint there. Supposedly he would be more powerful if they could find his companion. The spell that the Dragon Saber was created around wove a bond between dragon and human, granting each better abilities in magic and physical combat. That was the whole point of the Dragon Warrior. Dragons were not as capable with spells as humans, due to their aura being mostly within their body, with little out to use in sorcery and such. Instead, their auras were reflected in the color of their scales, and augumented the predatory perfection that was a dragon. He had been taught many things about how draconic auras worked. Most of it, he didn't care about. His electromagnetic powers weren't supremely powerful, but good enough to be useful. He chewed on the doradon meat as he looked towards the setting sun. It was beautiful. Several more dragons had landed on the carcass, and even a pheonix had come. Of course, by looking at the setting sun, he was blinded by the silver burst of light. ----------------------------- Far away, the moon dragon had made a choice. She was dying. Her son would not survive if she did not get someone to take care of him. So she concentrated her aura, and used up everything to send a beacon of light out. A blinding silver explosion. Her body disintegrated into silver dust. The small Sun dragon was instantly coated in what had been his mother. Aquilfer and Alex, still on patrol, were in the air instantly when they saw the burst of light. As they approached, they saw the dust. "A dragon has died here," rumbled Aquilfer. "This is what happens with total aura expulsion. We turn into dust, with a burst of light. But why here? And a silver dragon?" Alex considered as they flew into the dust cloud. He was about to say something when he felt a jerk of pain. His saber dropped into his hand, despite not having summoned it. "Aquilfer, we need to land. Now." Said Alex urgently. Aquilfer did so, and the feelings got stronger. "What's wrong?" Asked the blue dragon. Just then, the blade began to glow, bright gold. A rush of feelings, of sadness, of hunger came into Alex's head. And he turned as a gold dragonet, covered in silver dust, crawled towards him. *** "A sun dragon?!" Exclaimed the elder lightning dragon. "How is this possible?"

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Steeldancer replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Insurance was right. We really didn't have insurance for collision, which was an oversight on my mom's part. I'm not even letting myself consider the what ifs. The kids in that other car... stormfather im glad they're ok. No, my main issue is my family finances. We are strained for resources at the moment. We aren't poor, but between my mom's cancer stuff that we just finished with, other car issues, renovations, and other stuff, our family finances aren't doing well. My dad and my mom both work, but it's not huge paying jobs. They've been concerned about finances for a while and then I screw up. And I feel awful. I have some money I've earned working, but without the insurance it won't cover it. The feeling that my family is going to suffer financially because of a rushed turn really kills me. -
Also I can blame elith for me dying. Although I don't know who actually killed me. Whoever you are... urgh.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Steeldancer replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
So my day just took a severe turn for the worse. I had my first big accident. Everybody was uninjured, but I'm still in shock, and the car is badly damaged on the front. Not to mention my work day was insane, by back feels funny, and I no longer have my own room. And worst of all, insurance is currently saying we, for some reason or another, don't have collision insurance for the car. Which makes no sense. And means I can kiss my savings good bye. Gosh I feel awful and really really stupid. -
I have weird bones! Yay!

Freaking Anakin from number 2.he RUINS THE MOVIE AGH. Ironheart. Oh how I hate her. Give me Iron Man back. Trump. Do I need to say more? Dolores umbridge. I nearly have a rage attack every time I read her. I HATE her more than voldemort. Awesome hulk. Give me Bruce banner back. Snape. Sorry. I can't forgive him. He should have been turned into a bouncing ferret too. Why didn't they do more of that?! Every character in the Transformers movies. I'll probably thing of more.
