I agree with this. Dalinar describes himself as a man of extremes, most of the time theres no middle ground with him. The sacrifice of loosing the one he loved most would make for logical character development.

Which makes me think Renarin is going to carry the back 5 books quite a bit.

What characters would you want to meet each other?
Kered replied to kiapet's question in Cosmere Q&A
Vin and Kaladin for me as well. I think Kelsier and Dalinar would make a good meet up. Dalinar represents the best of what a noble/highborn person can be. Would be interesting to see how Kels would respond to that. -
How do we come to realize that we agree more than we agree?

It was said in a story that each person has a question that hides in their heart. A question that help makes them who they are. Thought this would be a fun idea to post. What's the question that you want answered? The question that you hold close? Mine is fairly simple. Can you successfully serve something you don't believe in?

The first line in my sig. "Nothing in life worth having comes easy." "Be selective with your battles. For sometimes peace is better than being right."

People that leave cupboards open make me want to light things on fire. The fact that it's an irrational anger is neither here nor there. Also, my whole life before making this post I thought it was "cuboard" not "cupboard". I've always said it like cub-berd. I don't know how I feel about this.

i think it's going to be Taln. Spoiler would be either the switching of his honorblade or the involvement of the Sons of Honor. This book is obviously going to have a certain emphasis on oaths since it's Dalinars book. I think Taln being the only Herald to hold onto the Oathpact plays into the oath theme, so I think he's going to get more screen time this time around.

If you were Brandon, what would you change?
Kered replied to ICanDream's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The only one I disagree with is number 4. It's just Brandon's style. He's stated numerous times that he has to step away from a project and do something completely different. Sure it might lead to delays, but I'll take that sacrifice. I don't care what the process is or how long it takes to get there, as long as the content continues to be as good as it is, I'm fine. But that's just me. -
Thanks guys, I also missed the Tyn bit. For the second question. I feel that Preservation trapping the literal power of another shard would send out some shockwaves throughout the cosmere, as that's a lot of power to be throwing around. I think I remember seeing a WoB where someone asked if the way Odium is trapped is as the same as how Ruin was trapped. But I can't remember the answer. Search the Collection right meow.

The book is a while away, but I wanted to post this here for speculation and to remind us about this WoB for our first book 3 read through. Q: Can you tell us who the main interlude character is for this book? Like Szeth for TWoK and Eshonai for WoR. A: RAFO. Q: We know that the recurring interlude character is typically one who plays an important role in events, but is currently not interacting directly with other characters My guess is that it's Jasnah, as she slowly makes her way back to civilixation, or explores Shadesmar. A: You are correct in that it's someone important, but generally unconnected. It's also, generally, going to be someone who hasn't had a large number of viewpoints so far. it does give a spoiler if i say who is is for this book, though. Q: Beacuse it's someone we believe dead/ somewhere else/ something along those lines? Kind of like giving away the protagonist of Secret History is a spoiler in an of itself? A: It's not as big of spoiler as that; it will just set you wondering about something else that IS a spoiler. This will make sense when the book is out. (feel free to ask my rationale when its out). Q: Is it Tezim, the god-priest of the Tukariu? I'd love to see an interlude focussed on him. There have been many hints that there is something really unusual happening there. A: RAFO.

Instead of making two different topics, I'll just post both questions in here. First question. Has it ever been stated in-world or via a WoB if a "living" shardblade will burn out someone eye's like a "dead" one will. I did some skim reading and the only thing I found was how Szeths Honorblade burns out eyes. But this might not apply to the regular shardblades, as honorblades are obviously different. Also playing a factor could be that the reason Szeth's honorblade burns out eyes could be that he's not the intended user of the honorblade(Jezrien). Second question. Is there a WoB about if Honor, Cultivation, and Odium new about how Preservation trapped Ruin in the well? I see this as potentially being the thing that helped Honor come up with the Oathpact.

Theories/Wild Speculation on Stormlight Archives Structure
Kered replied to Ammanas's topic in Stormlight Archive
I never thought of the "if i can't have it no one can" bit before. That sounds more like someone how's spent millennia consumed by hatred than what I said. I personally don't think it's going to happen, but I think it would be awesome if a "good" character ever picked up Odium. It would be the opposite of a redemption story. A morally grounded character being slowly corrupted by the most hate filled thing in the cosmere. Would be especially interesting if Kaladin picked it up, as he already has been destroyed and built back up. It would happen all over again. Plus I could see Kaladin picking up Odium in order to save one of his friends from that fate. Would make for some epic reading. But, like ya said, it's all speculation at this point, -

The day I post a WoB before you or Extesian is the day I quit the internet. But going back to the what second arc will be, thanks to the WoB, it opens up a cool concept. Instead of the champion being beaten, it could be Rayse himself that gets beat. Then upon his death Rayse tricks whomever beat him into picking up Odium. As put in the letter, Odium is more of a force than individual, so its feasible that instead of trying to survive himself, Rayse just makes sure Odium will continue on. And with Odium tricking the person who killed Rayse into picking up the shard(Kaladin would be an example) this could fulfill the part on the WoK dust cover about "One betraying". -

Ya beat me to it. I, being a foolish mortal, tried to find it on TL instead of the collected WoB's. -
Theories/Wild Speculation on Stormlight Archives Structure

I always saw the first arc ending with the new KR beating Odium's champion. Then with a pause to prepare or maybe they thought they won, the next five books will be the KR fighting Odium himself. Beating the champion casted off Odiums influence on Roshar, but Kaladin, Dalinar and the others weren't satisfied with that and want to finish Odium for good. This is just a blind prediction. Don't really have any evidence to support it other than the possible foreshadowing of Tanavast telling Dalinar about the champions thing in Dalinar's final vision. -
I was editing my sig, putting in a picture, and went to save it told me my dimensions were to big. So I said oh well and left it at that. That was a few months ago. Flash forward to right now and whenever I go into my edit my sig, it shows my current sig is empty. Then when I put the text that I want to be in sig(about three sentences) and hit save, it tells me my dimensions are to big, then that picture from before randomly pops in there. I then delete the picture, re-add the text, and it save and it tells me the dimensions are to big again and the pic pops back up. Is there a quick fix and I'm just being dumb? EDIT: Tis fixed now, I just refreshed a bunch and it ended up working.

That's awesome, I've never seen this WoB before. The "he's got a connection to a lot of different things" makes me curious. Connections to other spren(honorspen, cryptics, inkspren, etc)? Connections to other natural forces? Connections to different investiture? Could be a lot of meaning there in terms of how powerful Dalinar can become.

I'll try to make it simplify it. Usually what makes a book really good for me is the amount of scenes that resonates with me in the book. A scene that I can go back and read/listen to over and over again without getting sick of it. I've never actually listed em out, so whichever book has the best scenes for me is the winner lol. Serious WoK and WoR spoilers?

Upvote for improvement. Has it been speculated that the comet spren could be the last of the "Big Three"? Stormfather, Nightwatcher, Comet Spren? Now that I think about it, doesn't seem likely. If we hold to a theory that each shard in Roshar has a "god" spren, that would mean the Comet Spren would belong to Odium. But that couldn't be possible due to the WoB about it being related to an Order. God, I hate talking in circles.

So we know the Aimians wrote the piece on the back of the WoK dustcover, but has it ever been stated where in-world it's written? Was it a note to someone else like the letter? Is it in a in-world book like WoR? I feel that the dusk cover entry would be a huuuge revelation for most characters in the series so where it is specifically in-world might not be relieved for a while. But I just wanted to ask to just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

So how did people figure out that Zahel was Vasher?
Kered replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm the same way, didn't know about Vasher until I saw it on a WoB. My friend pointed out to me the passage in WoR where Vasher was playing the game with the colored stones then my friend showed me that it's the same game Lightsong was playing in Warbreaker. The one he wasn't even trying to win but was doing awesome. It happens a lot with me. I don't notice it, then once the clues are pointed out to me, I can't believe I missed em. Another example, I'm terrible at spotting Hoid. -
I hadn't heard of this until just recently and by the time I had, I had already pre-ordered. But I did order WoK and WoR signed from the website, thanks for the heads up!
