  1. I'm pretty sure it was both, or at least it was in a book somewhere where it said that Ishi forced organisation on the surgebinders, fearing the greater power of the surges, whereas most modern characters assume that it was to guide and protect mankind when the heralds couldn't.
  2. Shadows that face the wrong way are just a feature of Shadesmar and when a characters shadow goes to the light it means they are partially transitioning into shadesmar. There are a couple WoBs on the arcanum about this
  3. Also, because h works as any letter when it come to alethi palindromes it could have been Dalihad which is marginally better
  4. Wait, I haven't read mistborn in a while, remind me again how exactly gold works? The coppermind says that you see a possible past self, so for example if I burned gold what, would I see a child version of me who likes sport instead of books (the horror)? But I feel like this wouldn't work because of the temporal aspect of it- soulcasting (which is apparently happening with Shallans personas) convinces an object to become something else as opposed to forgery which convinces an object that it was always something else- thus in soul casting the object would still have its original form in its spiritweb as it's past version. Therefore Veils past is simply Shallans. I think it's also important to note that shallans personas aren't really a what if type of thing, because she could imitate literally anything with no limits on plausibility because it's a direct manual change, as opposed to Forgeries, which must be close to what actually happened to stick, which I assume is the same mechanic gold used.
  5. Don't be so sure- a year long succession crisis in House Sadeas leading to all the cadet branches being seen as unworthy and uncivilised would definitely mean that even the most socially entrenched Alethi nobles would agree the new Highprince mustn't be a Sadeas opening doors for Kaladin.
  6. I think when Gavilar says you could hold a god he means the unmade because he probably had some unmade trapped and has at this pony realised that they are the parshendi gods
  7. Well, like I said, I think its pretty obvious that sja-anat is changing- she can now enlighten true spren as well as lesser and now apparently wants to defect from Team Odium. So I'd say that back in the days of the Desolations she was re shephir level intelligence because they were both designed by Odium to fill a similar place in his void hierarchy- as she's gained intelligence, she's potentially become less voidish. There is even a possibility that she is later given a third part of her name when she properly joins team Urithiru, perhaps because she personally realised this hierarchy and feels like she deserves the honour of a promotion. Normal single hyphen unmade being re shephir level intelligence is also, the way I see it, supported by Yelig-nar because he doesn't seem particularly aware from the little we have seen of him and if he turns out to have been sentient while we saw him then we only ever see him bonded so he'd have an unnaturally augmented awareness anyway.
  8. We have actually seen cohesion- when Amaram went all crystally and turned the ground soft so that Kaladin would sink and then hardened it around his ankles- that was cohesion. Jazzy also used transportation to be able to soulcast things she wasn't touching like in the scene where she soulcasts an entire army and the soulcasting keeps jumping from one to the other (this one I'm pretty sure on but maybe someone should back it up). So transportation and cohesion would probably mean you can mold any object like it was clay- there's probably more but that's all I can think of right now
  9. The only thing I have to say is that it's entirely possible that no radiant spren bonded the parsh in earlier times simply because of social stigma and there was no need to make oneself a pariah in shadesmar by bonding the descendants of the Enemy when plenty of willing, eligible humans were present- it doesn't need to be related to Honour at all
  10. One thing I also wanted to add was that I think mask!Shallan contains a lot of what the non- Veil parts of her want to be like and I personally think that that's very important.
  11. Ulim the voidspren specifically refers to the fused as venlis ancestors
  12. One theory i saw a while ago that I liked was that the number of hyphens in an unmades name indicated their level of sentience- Ba-ado-mishram has two and was a high princess among the voidbringers specifically noted as being keen of mind. On the other side of the spectrum is things like Nergaoul or Ashertmarn who have very limited awareness. Sja-anat seems like an exception because she's very clearly more aware than Re- shephir but maybe she was designed to be re shephir level and has only recently gained enough sentience to upgrade to two hyphens The hyphen in the more modern reference to Dai-gonarthis is thus interesting because it could imply that in the millennia since the source of that death rattle was first said, Dai-gonarthis has gained enough sentience to classify as Re-Shephir level. Id be interested to know if in that scene with Jezrien and Dalinar, when Jezrien says oh so which one of the unmade got you then? Whether he refers to dai gonarthis with a hyphen or without. It wouldn't be particularly strong evidence either way because of the amount of time it's been since Jezrien last fought the fisher.
  13. All this discussion has rekindled my anticipation for the Kaladin album with all its alethi war songs and hoids storytelling songs
  14. Jasnahs an elsecaller, renarins the weird void truthwatcher, and stump is the only proper truthwatcher we've seen but she's not exactly the person I'd think of first for Kal to date. Now that I think about it the divine attributes for both those orders are basically the exact same learned/wise and caring/giving that's odd
  15. Well, when looking at the whole idea that people are attracted to people like their parents we need to analyse Hesina ( I wouldn't say Lirin because Kal was definitely closer to Hesina). Hesina was the only person in Hearthstone who could read and often read to him from textbooks. This along with just the general vibe I get from her makes me think of the divine attributes learned and giving (Truthwatcher) and Wise and Caring ( Elsecaller). Huh, those are the legitimately the orders that I fit best that's odd. But yeah, I can definitely see Kal with a truthwatcher or an elsecaller (or a renarin)
  16. The only thing Lin Davar and Adolin have in common is the Lin in their names. I'd say the side of Shallan that she generally shows adolin has a couple of similarities to evi but because it's an arranged marriage I doubt it's had much of a factor in it and their eventual romance
  17. Well they may have been manipulating the same ten surges but it wouldn't have been with nahel bonds or using honours investiture- it would have been with a different magic system using the same underlying cosmere principles
  18. Well I think the reason they didn't make another elantris in teod which would have significantly enhanced the power of elantrians there is just that there is no need and people tend not to want to spend extra effort on things that aren't absolutely necessary- anything the teoish people wanted from a full power elantrian they could just use their famed armada to pop down and get it instead of making new teoish elantrians full power instantly. Actually the teoish would probably make the elantrians make a second elantris in teod if they knew how it worked but they just assume that it's that one ancient city and that's it
  19. Also a metalmind would be an awful hemalurgy spike because it's already invested so it'd be able to take less investiture from the target than a normal spike because investiture repels investiture
  20. This could only work for me if decayform also granted manipulation of division (just because it works with division more) but perhaps a different aspect of it perhaps one more traditionally dustbringery. But then the implication would be that listener forms grant more limited manipulation of surges than KR and it should be roughly even so I'm conflicted.
  21. One other thing about the Shin- their language is in the dawnate family tree, meaning it's derived from the dawnchant. I'd potentially say that the Shin were the first group of humans to come to Roshar and they peacefully interacted with the dawnsingers for long enough for their languages to become similar and then the surgebinding humans came from Ashyn with Odium. Evidence against this would be the Eila steles apparent surprise that the voidbinders have no shell and hear no song
  22. No spren are cognitive entities but they are made of investiture which is always in the spiritual realm so they definitely have a spiritual component independent of a nahel bond
  23. Hello people I have part of a WoB you may find interesting- Dawnate: A varied language family with distant roots in the dawnchant. Shin, parshendi, Horneater. They share grammar, but they diverged long enough ago that the vocabulary is very different. So yes the Shin are the humans that took parts of the dawnchant into their language so the key to cracking the dawnchant probably came from some proto- shin language
  24. Now that I think about it it's definitely possible that odium steals pain in a way that's similar to hemalurgy- I like this. Have an upvote!
