  1. I read the prologue, but am abstaining from reading anything more. I really want to read it on the day it comes out, but I'm in my first year of law school and thus reading huge novels is not conducive to passing. I'll probably try to tear through it on my Thanksgiving break, fingers crossing my professors take pity on us and don't assign exsuberant amount of homework. But I'm really happy to know I'm not the only one who isn't reading the released chapters or who might have trouble reading it when its first released.
  2. I'm really hoping this gets funded, I backed a few weeks ago and really wish I had more money I could back with.
  3. I think I would like to see Syl and Ashe hanging out together and talking about Kalidan and Sarene.
  4. I like the idea of the voidspren corrupting Radiant spren but I have to agree Numhukumakiaki'aialunamor, I don't believe it would convince all of the Radiants to abandon their oaths. You don't essentially kill one of your closest partners over a what if or a possibility.
  5. I really like this theory except for the part about the Recreance. I don't buy into the whole idea that the Radiants abandoned their oaths because they found out they would be cognitive shadows on Braize and fighting Odium. I would think they would find that a bit honorable (pun intended).
  6. Thanks for the responses and shedding a little bit more light on this quirky background character.
  7. This might be a question that has been asked before, but I haven't seen it in the forums. What is the deal with Ishikk? I've read Way of Kings twice now, and am on my third read through, the other two times I brushed him off as a funny character helping the group of men hunting down Hoid. But this time something struck me, on the very first page of his persepective Ishikk while thinking about the Pure Lake called it Sela Tales and that it had been Epoch Kingdom. How does Ishikk know this, are the names of the Epoch Kingdoms that common? Also why did the world hoppers go to him to find Hoid? Have they just picked random people in the different countries of Roshar to help them or did they come to Ishikk in particular? If there has already been a discussion on this or a WoB on this please let me know.
  8. Okay. This post was coming off of my first read of Edgedancer, so I must have glossed over that part and just focused on the whole idea of Voidbringers "jumping." It would make sense then that Voidspren would have to jump from Braize (most likely) to Roshar. Though I have to admit I was imagining the Thunderclasts "jumping" over, but after doing some research on the Coppermind, I think they are native to Roshar as well.
  9. I don't think that just because he is attempting to rationalize why it is not a Desolation doesn't mean that he's not correct in what he is saying. From the way I interpreted what Nale was saying, "in past Desolations Voidbringers made some kind of jump to Roshar, that has not happened yet, therefore not a Desolation". But this is a Desolation, we know that (and Nale knows it now too). The issue that I see is that the Parshendi are native to Roshar, more native than humans are. There is no reason they would need to make any kind of "jump" to Roshar, they are already on it. So what is Nale referring to? What has made a jump to Roshar in the past that has caused previous Desolations, but has not done so now, and why?
  10. Something I picked up on was that Nale said that the Parshmen were leftover Voidbringers from a past Desolation and that the Voidbringers couldn't make the jump to Roshar. Which makes me believe that as scary as the Stormform of the Parshendi is, there might be something worse coming.
  11. I got the impression that Stump would probably keep on doing what she was doing, helping the kids, whether orphanage remains in Yeddaw or if she goes with Lift back to Azir.
  12. While I'm not sure how likely this theory is, it is a rather interesting theory.
  13. I think this is a really cool theory.
  14. I wanted to point something out about the Shin+Stormwarden theory, I don't know if its a detraction or not but in WoR chapter 47 Shallan is reading a book written by the Shin about Urithiru: "Urithiru was the connection to all nations... [a]nd at times, our only path to the outside world, with its stones unhallowed." (this is on 565 in the soft cover version) I would think then that the Shinnovar Stone Shamman would then pre-date the Recreance and couldn't be the Stonewardens.
  15. I really like this idea. There really isn't much information on the formation of the Vorin religion, only that at some point after the Recreance, the ardents tried to take over the world during the Hierocracy. "The Hierocracy had been a time when the ardents attempted to conquer the world and control the people "for their own good." The Hierocracy is considered the failure of Vorinism.[3] Priests controlled what people learned, what religious paths they followed, and the overall doctrine. The priests claimed to see visions and prophecy, and claimed that the common people could not understand theology" There could be more to the Hierocracy than we first though, something to do with the Knights Radients maybe? Who knowes (well Brandon likely does), maybe I'm crazy or reading too much into this.
  16. While I agree that there are plenty more Alethi lords to replace the two dead highprinces, it may be a bit of a blood bath between those lords to take those positions if lines of succession are not clear enough. As for the other highprinces, I think we will know their fate soon enough, and its hard to judge right now if more than the two we know of are dead.
  17. I love that Shallan's been confirmed bisexual. I was very happy to hear that as a recently out bisexual person myself. There's so few literature about bisexuality and even if its only hinted at or subtext I'll take it. And I really love all the crazy ship names for Shallan and other female characters. This is just awesome!
  18. I've seen the quote before I just don't have a link to it, but Brandon Sanderson has said Hoid like to show up where "novel worthy" events are happening. For SA that's ten novels. Maybe unlike Warbreaker or the Mistborn series Hoid feels he needs to take a more active role, as active a role as he likes to take. Especially since these events seem to surround Odium, someone Hoid views as very dangerous as seen in the letters. That at least is my take on why Hoid seems more involved in SA than some of the other books.
  19. I voted Amaram, I hate what he did to Kaladin. But it was a tough decision, cause I hate how Sadeas betrayed Dalinar and Adolin.
  20. According to the Coppermind, Autonomy is currently located on Taldin which is the planet White Sands takes place on. I am not sure what "right now" constitutes as, but if he is on Taldin, he can't be the red cloud covering Scadrial.
  21. @sheep I really enjoy all your artwork. You've done a really great job at capturing the characters of the Stormlight Archive.
  22. I like the idea of Braize being the original place of settlement due to Roshar's high storms and the listeners. Might make better sense than Yolen. Is there a timeline for how long it has been since the Shattering? I am not extremely knowledgeable in the Cosmere yet.
  23. I found the link that I was referencing to. It was a twitter post that Sanderson made back in January responding to a question someone sent in.
  24. I don't know if this has been discussed somewhere but here we go. I read somewhere, that I can no longer find the link to, that someone asked Brandon Sanderson about how humans got on all the different planets in the Cosmere. Obviously we know about Scadril, but Sanderson said that there were clues in the mythology of other cultures as to how humans got to those worlds as well. This past week I've been reading WoK again, and the even in which the Tranquiline Halls are lost is called "the Expulsion". With a shard being the leader of their religion could this expulsion have something to do with the Shattering? Odium is their enemy creating the Voidbringers (I think), and he seems to be the enemy of the rest of the shards. Any thoughts? Anyway, thanks for reading.
