Just got done reading Interlude I-8 in WoK and seriously think Brandon was having some fun with us fans who create elaborate theories and visit the coppermind. Ashir and Geranid sound like a lot of members on this site. It's all in good fun though.

In this order: Apocalypse Guard, The Lost Metal, possibly Rithmatist 2.

You just gave a more in depth explanation of my own world views. Great post!

Online $20 is average for a Harcover release in my experience. I think a good equivalent is The Witchwood crown which is a much hyped release of 700 plus pgs that came out Tuesday and is currently selling for $20.40 brand new from amazon.

I don't know where to put this, but decided here was the best place. Has anyone noticed that the preorder price for Oathbringer is getting more and more expensive on amazon us? I usually preorder a book and it gets cheaper as it gets closer to release. This time I preordered when it first came available for $20.99 and it is now almost $30. Maybe it will drop in price later, but its just something I noticed that was a little odd.

I feel that the first two books were putting all the pieces on the board and getting everything set for the rest of the series. I know it is probably not a popular opinion, but the first two books were basically a giant prologue. I expect this book to be the best one thus far.

I just found out recently about the Gods being a parable/distortion of Odium and Honor...or so the theory goes. Really hoping for more Purelake in Oathbringer!

Over a third done with The Dragonbone chair right now and am liking it much more this time around! I gave it a try, but didn't get far awhile back. I think the problem before is that looking at the cover and when it was published I thought it would move at the pace and have the complexity (or lack of) of a Feist Riftwar novel. I think going in with the proper mindset is making a huge difference! What format did you get the WoT audiobooks? Did you find a bunch of CD's somehere or slowly collecting them on audible?

Sanderson-Related things to do in Utah
Ammanas replied to Aryanath's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I know they love their fry sauce in Utah (basicially a mixture of mayo, ketchup and maybe some spices) and have them at several restaurants; the only state where I have seen people have this concoction. If I remember correctly from the beginning Utah has been a cattle town so I am sure there are some good steakhouses. For a more specific answer @Sunbird will have to be your guide.- 16 replies

We at the 17th shard have a proverb, "He who is certain he knows the ending of things when he is only beginning them is either extremely wise or extremely foolish; no matter which is true, he is certainly an unhappy man, for he has put a knife in the heart of wonder." Long story short just listen to pagerunner and leave off looking at spoilers/theories until you have finished reading the books.

My personal favorite ending/convergence was Dust of Dreams. Partly bc the convergence was so epic and partly bc of the hard work to get there; of all the 10 books that one felt like most of a slog to me. Midnight Tides is usually my favorite of the 10 though; sometimes it is Bonehunters with Memories of Ice firmly at #3.

They are still working on illustrations. Also I think they still need to proofread it, but I am not positive on that point.

I'm sure you guys did great! I am pretty bad at catching little errors bc my mind usually automatically corrects grammar mistakes. I think the only mistake I have ever caught in a Sanderson book was in Way of Kings where Dalinar refers to the king as Adolin's nephew when they were obviously cousins. I have no idea how that made it past everyone and later editions corrected the error. Anyways many thanks to the people that contributed! It seems like beta reading is much more work than I thought it was.

I honestly don't know why it matters what a authors personal views are. Some of my favorite authors hold opinions I couldn't disagree more with. Brandon is not one of these. I think Brandon is one of the kindest man I have ever met. That being said, people are going to get upset about stupid things and refuse to see reason because there mind is already made up; thats just how the world works in my opinion. I don't think Brandon is going to be hurting for money anytime soon. I am sure he will be fine. I hope I am not being a wet blanket and don't want to discourage anyone who thinks it will make a difference though. Just my random musings.

Is the 15 seconds of fame all its cracked up to be? I'm still waiting for mine

@Ravi I know that you are probably sick of questions about the book, but I have a question on the process. I noticed that you have a low post count so I assume you are a recent addition to the Shard. Have you been on Tor's staff for a while and have done Beta reads for multiple authors? How did you become a Beta reader. Are you a long time fan of Sanderson?

Many of your points I agree with (from what I have seen of the world) but I want and try to believe in the best in people and the potential that they change for the better. Regardless thank you for your unique (at least on this forum) stance.

I've been seeing all the excitement about The Witchwood Crown by Tad Willams so I decided to give The Dragonbone Chair (the start to the series) another shot. When I tried reading it awhile back I was not prepared for the 150-200 page beginning slog that most fans admit occurs on your initial read (based on a recent bn.com blog article). I am going into it fully prepared and at page 50 so far. It's pretty good; I am excited for when it becomes great....hopefully! Afterwards I finish the first book I plan on reading Soul of the World by Mealing. It just came out today and looks amazing! It checks all the boxes for me of stuff I look for.

For your enjoyment! Everything you could ever want to know about Beta reading Oathbringer. No spoilers, but a in depth look at the process of it. http://www.tor.com/2017/06/27/unity-of-purpose-the-oathbringer-beta-story/

Sounds like you will fit in here just fine! 1. I love reading, biking, swimming and long walks. 2. My fantasy tastes tend to go to the darker side (Glen Cook, Steven Erikson, Abercrombie etc. But I am a big sucker for great world building Sanderson (duh) Rothfuss, Butcher etc. 3. We went to kind of the same school. BYU-I graduate.

@Emerald101 You are right I mixed them up; thanks for the correction!

It seems that that everytime I see @The One Who Connects and @Pagerunner post something I gain more Cosmere wisdom. I never knew that about Stormfather. Great Stuff!
