@AngelEy3 Knights Radiant Pancakes (specifically blueberry) Faramir Ravenclaw Jaghut (I would give just about anything to read the complete Gothos' Folly) Breaths (I think it would be fun to live a pampered life of a God like Lighsong) King (Not big on horror so I have not read much of any author, but I did like 11-22-63) Probably House Tully. One of the reasong is their house motto aligns well with my personal feeling, "Family, Duty, Honor" I guess Edward, but I really don't care Marvel Star Wars I really need to watch Battlestar Galactica, been meaning to, so I don't feel I have enough information to answer your question.

Yes, all 1st Law. And lots of maps!

Its a short story collection. It has about 14 short stories. The book came out about February of this year.

My favorite of the stand alones was The Heroes. My favorite of the trilogy was Before they are Hanged. Have you read Sharp Ends? Definitely worth a read!

He is never actually called a orc, but he is one: To the Danes, he is skraelingr; to the English, he isorcnéas; to the Irish, he is fomoraig. He is Corpse-maker and Life-quencher, the Bringer of Night, the Son of the Wolf and Brother of the Serpent. He is Grimnir, and he is the last of his kind―the last in a long line of monsters. This is from Oden's book A Gathering of Ravens

@Captains Domon I forgot Nightblood. How could I forget Nightblood? Great list as well!

Here are some of my favorites and a brief explanation of what sets them apart: Swords of the Cross from Dresden files- I love the idea these swords being set apart to battle the enemies of God and if used unrighteousnesly they break Excalibur from King Arthur: Probably the most famous of all swords Fragarach from Iron Druid chronicles- It forces whoever it is pointed at to tell the truth and can summon wind Dragnipur from malazan- If killed by it than your soul gets transported to another realm Vorpal sword from Alice-I just really like saying the name Shardblades from Stormlight (Of course) Sword of Truth from the series by the same name- I like the idea of it remembering the skills of the previous bearers (its been a very long time since I have read these books and am not interested in it turning into a Goodkind bashing thread) Memory, sorrow, Thorn by the series by the same title- great backstory for each one And the last one might be my personal favorite Daubendiek, the Great Sword of Suchara, the fabled weapon once wielded by the tragic hero of the ancient age, Tureck Aarant from Glen Cook's The Swordbearer. The blade demands blood and demands much from its bearer, but it makes the wielder very powerful and comes with a angry dwarf that is its guardian throughout the ages. What are your favorites?

A Look at Kaladin: a Stormlight Archive Album (And Its Kickstarter)
Ammanas commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
So I know of kickstarter, but the finer details of it elude me. My questions are: if they meet all of their goals will it eventually be something you can buy from amazon, wallmart or wherever? So with kickstarter it is more expensive bc you are basically funding their project, but the benefit is you get the first look at the product (or potentially only look if they don't meet their goals)? By the way great write up!- 21 comments

One of these days you will have to try Joe Abercrombie's other series (The Shattered Sea trilogy) a try. Some people say it is Abercrombie writing young adult but, in my opinion, the amound of profanity, sex, and violence is somewhere in between YA and one of his First Law novels. I thought his other trilogy was a lot of fun

@Hood Since you are Hindu perhaps you can answer a question for this ignorant American. Could you explain the veneration of cows? It's my understanding they are fairly high on the types of life that are possible in the reincarnation cycle and could possibly be a ancestor? Also what is the end goal for the religion? I think nirvana is Buddhism...I know I could look these things up, but I prefer hearing about religion from those who practice it.

Or what's written up to this point. Did you know he is writing a sequel trilogy with characters that are, "the next generation"? He wants to write the entire thing first and then release it. He is partway through the first draft of the second book. I think the goal is for the first to be released late next year.

@Calderis@Kingsdaughter613 Most Mormons believe the following: that when we die the spirit goes to a place called "Spirit World" to await the resurrection of the body. Spirit World is upon this earth, but on another plane of existense. It is divided into prison and paradice, but it is the same place they just exist in different states of being. Here is a quote from Brigham Young. You can check it out in the teachings of the presidents manuel: President Brigham Young declared: When you lay down this tabernacle, where are you going? Into the spiritual world…Where is the spirit world? It is right here. Do the good and evil spirits go together? Yes they do…. Do they go beyond the boundaries of the organized earth? No, they do not…. Can you see it with your natural eyes? No. Can you see spirits in this room? No. Suppose the Lord should touch your eyes that you might see, could you then see the spirits? Yes, as plainly as you now see bodies

So what song basically represents your life? Mine is World at Large by Modest Mouse. I don't particularly want to have a in depth psychological discussion on why that is, but would be interested what songs my fellow Sharders choose. They can go into more detail on their choices if the choose or just list a song and artist.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

Speaking of which I was watching the tv show Cheers and was thinking that the bar must be a little like Silverlight; somewhere you go where everyone knows your name. -
@old aggie It looks like you tried to put a spoiler tag, but it isn't working and I can see your answers without clicking. That, along with the inability to give reps, makes two things I have never seen on the shard before on this thread.

Rereading Echoes of the Great Song by David Gemmell. Just as good as the first time I read it. A great story!

Wasn't Wade in the book described as really fat with bad acne? Please correct if I am wrong, but I think that's the case and it looks like they are going a different direction with the character portrayal. Trailer looks good. I will definitely see it when it comes out. The book has so many flaws, but I don't care. It was a absolute blast to read!

To play off of the famous Robert Oppenheimer quote attributed to him (who was quoting a verse from a sacred Hindu text): "For I have become Oathbringer, the destroyer of the 17th shard"

Entertainment Reviews(and Debate)
Ammanas replied to Modal Seoul's topic in Entertainment Discussion
The Good the Bad and the Ugly should be on that list and probably deserving of the number one spot in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your list though! -
Coke Phoenix Fellowship of the Ring Probably Raoden. I could use his optimism in such a dire situation. Also his ability to teleport if things got too dicey.
-
Not Elantris and Alcatraz to my knowledge.

There are so many, but I thing the following character from Abraham's Dagger and Coin series really went out in style. I also thought the following characters in malazan and a epic exit. Also from Paul Kearney's criminally under read Monarchies of God series
