Hah yes, that's my idea. A little far out there and crazy, but I'm sticking with it until proven otherwise

Way of Kings Prime Scene, Two Way of Kings Annotations
Ammanas commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
Sounds like Brandon was pretty emphatic that there will be no more annotations. He has a lot on his plate and doesn't want to use his time on the annotations and instead use it to write his books, go touring etc.- 17 comments

The two authors have very different types of prose and why would Rothfuss allow it? It will eventually get published but there is no rush for him. He is still making tons of money with the sales of the previous books and has a television show coming. He is a man that likes living the life of a celebrity, but not the day to day grind of being a author. Also these days Brandon has a lot on his plate and can't finish everyone's series for them. Hopefully this will not turn into a Rothfuss hate thread; I really can't blame him for his actions. If I could get away with being a celebrity (living that life) and not have to do any work to mantain my status I would do the same.

@Mandamon God's War also has one of the best opening sentences for a book, "Nyx sold her womb somewhere between Punjai and Faleen, on the edge of the desert." Not quite as good as my favorite from Banks' The Crow Road, "It was the day my grandmother exploded."

Have you read her God's War trilogy? I thought those were good but her next series Mirror Empire I couldn't get into though. It was just a poorly written in my opinion and she had a very despicable message that she was pushing towards the audience that I didn't want to be apart of and support. That's just my opinion though; Hurley can express hers and people may agree with her.

That was really...something
-
It's also wierd bc it is missing the great secondary characters like Michael, Molly, Butters etc that really add to the series.

I think most of the sharders are destracted by the Tor chapter releases. Also, to my knowledge, Brandon hasn't officially announced it so it has not got very much attention.

@HermanBolivia Just friendly piece of advice you can click on the "eye" on your screen to create a spoiler section for your post. That's what you are supposed to do. I have mixed feelings going into it. Yes, of course, I am excited to see a continuation of the story; but the news that we will get only one cosmere story for the next three years has tempered it somewhat. I will change my plan and read it very slowly or possibly go the audiobook route to make it last.

@PlanetReelo Hey thanks for sharing! I was wondering if someone would reply to this topic! Welcome to the shard by the way. I'm pretty sure you are new and have been posting a bunch. You seem like a fabulous person and have appreciated what you have shared so far.

I was vexed when they announced they would discontinue my favorite soda flavor Coke Zero and replace it with Coke Zero Sugar. I tried the new stuff and decided is a toss up which is better, but it now has the Ammanas stamp of approval! The old one was more crisp, the new one is a tiny bit sweeter and more syrupy.

I have not read it, but have heard that the author makes the beginning of the book really boring to simulate the reader traveling up the mountain to get to the monastery before the story begins properly. Is that true and would you agree?
-
So I have not read very many books from this genre and am looking for suggestions. I am going to start with Conan and Fahred and Gray Mouser . Anything else my fellow sharders would recommend?

Regarding conspiracy theories I don't necessarily believe them, but I am not there and do not have all the facts. There is a lot of information out there that someone like me would not know so how can one say 100 percent if something is true or false? One can be mostly sure on something, but it's hard for one really know these things. To believe otherwise well...that's a lot of hubris.

The Vanishers (yes I know I am stealing the name from the Wax and Wayne book) I would use a combination of Transportation and Transformation to teleport all over Roshar and skip traveling in the different realms. I would be used to teleport small tactical teams into areas of interest, a warrior (one minute I am in front of you the next I am behind you with my sword), a assassin or thief assuming my spren lets me do that sort of thing.

Miserere mei, Deus. There is actually quite the story behind this song. It was originally supposed to be played in the Sistine chapel during certain times on holy week. If you were caught with even a part of a transcription or in anyway spreading this music it could mean instant excommunication. It was that sacred and big of a deal. Well, several decades passed and a new pope was in power when a 14 year old Mozart heard it and, from memory, wrote it down and made a few corrections. He later spread it about and was summoned before the Pope. His family feared for him, but the Pope actually praised him, lifted the ban, and gave him one of their highest honors. I found all this out listening to the classical music station (not something I usually do, but I was in the mood for). It's a absolutely beautiful song that just touches the human soul. The translation of it in english is a arrangement of Psalm 51

Just found out the Catholic church has a knighthood that they can bestow upon people called The Order of the Golden Spur. Evidently it is such a high honor that there is only one person currently that has it, which is the Grand Duke of Luxembourg (although there is nothing preventing many people holding it at the same time).

I liked Elantris but, I need help liking it more
Ammanas replied to Xero stormz's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I think some people really like it because it is so different than his other books. There isn't a lot of battle scenes and violence in it compared to his other books. It is more quiet, thoughtful, and and relies on maneauvering rather than direct action. I really like, but can see that it might not appeal to some. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Ammanas replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. I turns out I am very much allergic to lavender (my clothes were washed in a lavender detergent). I somehow must of developed a allergy later in life. Did he have the shash glyph on his forehead? -
@DSC01 I believe you are thinking too hard about the question, but I appreciate your input What's your favorite Dreamsongs story? It's been a long time since I read it, but I really liked the story about the mist planet, and the one about the couple that were romantically involved and were both mind readers (sorry I can't remember more details!)
-
It's not related to Sanderson, but I've seen a few that say, "FBI Surveillance Van" which is kind of funny.

I guess what I am saying is that your "truth" is actually your opinion. Although you may feel differently.
-
So I am not much on philosophy, so excuse me if I sound ignorant, but I believe that basically all truth is determined by the individual. What is true for one can be different for another. Your example about the cat on the map is a matter of perspective; look at it upside down and the mat is on the cat; you could also argue semantics such as "what does it mean to be on?". Whenever someone says something is true I always laugh a little to myself...yes it is true according to you.

This is for all the Scott Lynch fans around here. There are some interesting things to be taken from it even if some of his stances are a little infuriating (that's his right to express his opinion I suppose) http://www.helsinkitimes.fi/culture/14975-worldcon-75-interview-with-author-scott-lynch.html
