I think Malazan is the only series that I can think of that the second read was more enjoyable that the initial one. There is so much foreshadowing, and connections that you will make on the second read it will blow your mind! I think the biggest one for me was in Midnight Tides where (Spoiler for Toll the Hounds)

@maxal Ready Player One is a absolute blast! It's one of those books that if you wanted to be critical about it I could list several problems with it, but its just so much fun I really don't care about the flaws and just enjoy the ride!

Has anyone else read the "secret" malazan short story called Goats of Glory? Well its not really secret its more obscure than anything else. I read it a few years ago and thought it was fun, although I am hazy on the details of it. Here is a spoiler free description of it that I found: Goats of Glory is a short story by Steven Erikson, appearing as the first story in the sword and sorcery anthology, Swords & Dark Magic. Although the story does not share any characters or locations with the Malazan novels to date, Steven Erikson has confirmed that it takes place in the Malazan world, "just south of Shal Morzinn on the same landmass as Seven Cities"

Almost done; I should finish it by tomorrow. I think it is a deeper, more thoughtful book than the original trilogy. I also think his prose has gotten better with each novel. He introduces three new points of view so it feels a little disjointed at first, but it really comes together. Overall I am very happy with it. It is much better than the original Red Rising book and at least on par with Golden Sun and Morning Star.

As I grown man I feel like I should be ashamed of liking the song Cheap Thrills by Sia, but I can't help myself; this song is so catchy!

Gotcha. I was able to get Iron Gold for $4.99 because audible had a black friday deal where it was that price for one credit for three months. I agree about Oathbringer being hard on the wrists. I will probably be going the Kindle route for Stormlight to save on space and easier to carry around.

Have you read Iron Gold yet? I am currently listening to it now and should finish in the next three days or so.

Just finished watching the movie "Your Name". It was absolutely stunning. Here is a trailer for it:

Well, respectfully, @Alderant there were some pure Gold Plates, but they were what we know as the book of Ether. There were also other plates that were made up of a mixture of Gold and other metals. There were many plates in records that make up what we know as the Book of Mormon. "The various plates and records referred to in the Book of Mormon and used in making it are (1) the plates of brass; (2) the record of Lehi; (3) the large plates of Nephi 1; (4) the small plates of Nephi; (5) the plates of Mormon; and (6) the twenty-four gold plates of Ether." http://eom.byu.edu/index.php/Book_of_Mormon_Plates_and_Records

Whoever wins is just going to be cannon fodder for the Patriots lead by the GOAT! -
Depends on your tastes. Kings of the Wyld by Eames, The Lies of Locke Lamora by Lynch, The First Law Trilogy by Abercrombie, The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown will appeal to just about anyone though.

For books I am unsure about I check it out at the library and later buy if I can see myself rereading so I can support the author. I personally liked it and really enjoyed Hrathen character arc.

Did I miss something in Oathbringer or is this from a Words of Brandon I haven't read? -
In return you should make him read Finnigans Wake by Joyce (No offence to those who like either story)

We had another thread similar to this found here: But we also start redundant threads all the time here on the shard. So not a problem if you want to continue with this new one!

The Humans regain the tranqueline halls on the planet Yolen and leave the Listeners to enjoy Roshar. Dalinor gains a yet deeper meaning of "unite them" and joins together all of Adonalsium's shards. -
Nothing to do with Mistborn, but did you hear that a new collection of Dresden Short stories is coming out this year? Details here: http://www.jim-butcher.com/posts/2017/brief-cases-and-2018-con-schedule

So this is really cool via Eriksons official facebook page. It appears that every time he finishes a chapter (for the Karsa trilogy) he will post a picture of the opening epigraph. Here is one he just posted:

Not to nitpick, but I think you meant The Girl Who Looked Up. -
Hah you lasted longer than me B.K. I really liked season one, but I could see the writing on the wall half way through season two and wasn't able to finish that season. It wasn't bad in season two, but I felt like I was checking the time every ten minutes or so.

I think they are waiting for Oathbringer to be out a little longer before releasing new reps that include the latest Stormlight book (I think "Tight Butt" has to be included). To answer the first question the negative ranks are no longer possible to achieve. The rest of your questions will have to be answered by someone with more pull. I wouldn't worry about God Beyond status though; I think one person has achieved it and they aren't active here anymore (to my knowledge).

Everything looks really promising! I am tempted to say yes to your project, but I feel like I would not be able to honor my commitment. Depending on how things go my life will get crazy busy from March-July and I would not be able to make time for the endeavor. I also have never done anything like Beta reading before and don't know if I would be any good at it. Anyways I just wanted to offer you encouragement and say if your book ever does make it to publication I would be willing to review a advance copy of it and only post the reviews on goodreads and amazon if it is 4 or 5 stars.

I know Magic the gathering, and most likely others, has a time limit of I think two years of a card coming out to be used in competition. I know from others if you want to officially compete you have to be constantly buying cards to remain up to date. If you are just going to play amongst friends at your house then it really doesnt matter though. I think to get started you should purchase a starter deck and then by smaller booster packs to get better cards. I am sure you could watch youtube videos that teach you how to play and other tips.

Thanks for your answer! I hope my question didn't come across as aggressive. It was asked in earnest.
