That is correct. If more than three people try to get an Aviar from the holding area only three will get an Aviar, and the rest will get a chicken or whatever other bird Bard or me feels like handing out. Likewise, if the holding area gets sabotaged some people will get an Aviar, and other people will get a more generic bird. The start of the game will likely be delayed a bit, as I'd like to have 12 players as a minimum, and ideally closer to 15-20.

An expectant buzz filled the air as the last journalists to arrive took their seats in front of the small stage. Journalists all across the country had been expecting an invitation to this press conference for several months now. It was common knowledge that the Norther Interest Trading Company was up to something big, but so far they'd managed to keep the exact nature of their project a secret. Today, that secrecy was coming to an end. The murmur of conversation among the journalists abruptly cut off as a bearded and bespectacled man took to the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please?" He asked, unnecessarily. "As you are all aware, the Northern Interest Trading Company has suffered many losses over the past years in our efforts to decypher the mysteries of the Pantheon Islands. Many have wondered whether the eventual reward is worth the effort. To this question I say 'yes, a thousand times over!' Its ever been the nature of humanity to explore and innovate, no matter the cost. If we where not to give in to this impulse, we would not be human!" "However, just as our drive to explore pushes us up against new difficulties, so does our capability to innovate provide new solutions. Over the past year, our scientists and engineers have been working tirelessly to design and create a new sort of vessel. A ship that does not have to brave the dangerous waters around the Pantheon to bring its crew tot he prize. A ship that is not limited to the well-explored beaches we have been limited to before. A ship that, for the first time in our history, will allow a group of intrepid explorers to take to the sky!" "Ladies and gentlemen..." With a loud grinding noise, the large hangar doors behind the stage started to glide open to reveal the majestic airship within. Oof, this one ran down to the wire indeed, based on that last batch of votes. I'm afraid I haven't followed along much after I died as I've been rather busy with my study. The only evil person I picked up on while I was still alive was Mailliw, and that might have been more a case of begin right for the wrong reasons. Anyway, I'd say this one was well-played by everyone.

@Furamirionind, have you also considered that Fifth answered that question the way he did because Joe isn't actually a player? In other news, the people that joined the Araris wagon late are just a bit more likely to be village unless bard is evil, as there would be little reason for the elims to commit to a mislynch in the closing stages of the cycle otherwise. Its hardly a guarantee of their alignment, but its something to start with.

I've done a quick review of the day so far. First of all, Mailliw. I'd actually missed a post by them, which added a bit of context tot heir vote on me. I still don't like that vote as I don't see how they went from 'disagreeing with Rand's suggestion' to 'therefore rand is an elim', but there are others I'm a bit more suspicious off right now, which are Araris and Rae. Furami has already made a fairly decent case against Araris, but he missed one thing that really stood out to me: I might be reading too much into this, but it seems to me that Araris seems to be trying to push a 'village and mistborn aren't that different' idea here, which combined with his reaction on someone suggesting a focus on the mistborn makes me suspect he might actually be one of the two mistborn. I'm somewhat suspicious of Rae for much the same reason, as she too suggested that the elims where a bigger threat than the mistborn, which is untrue(the mistborn have a kill, just like the elims, and have no reason not to use it each cycle in the pursuit of their wincon. Their goal might be to kill the elims, but the village will likely loose about as many members to them as to the elims, and if they succeed, the vilalge will loose just as much as when the elims win). For this reason, I'm going to vote on Rae fro now, but I might add my vote onto Araris if that vote gains more traction. Regarding the Joe vote, I see no reason why someone would vote on Joe purely because they have some sort of secret role.

Note exactly. PM's are basically the same as always, with risks for easier manipulation bye elims and the like, but in this particular game they've got the benefit of making things more difficult for the unstable mistborn. @Arraenae, I very much disagree that the unstable mistborn can be ignored until we've caught a couple of elims. In my experience, elim teams are often like a couple of dominos. Unless the elim team is really good with their distancing and bussing, once one falls, several others will follow. So by the time we've lynched a couple of the elim team chances are that getting the rest of them is pretty easy. edit: it seems a lot of people disagree with my suggestion earlier. I can understand that, of course, as I wasn't completely sold on it either, but believed it needed to be discussed. If we're doing discussion in the thread as usual, I do need to stress that we need to hunt for the unstable mistborn from the very beginning.

That actually makes them more difficult to pin down though, because as has been said before, in thread they'd appear to be pure village because they have the same objective. This actually came up during QF37 as well: that by sharing information with a limited amount of people (as opposed to for example, everyone), you can gain information by seeing what happens. If you make a good case against someone that has been flying under the radar in PM's, and that person subsequently dies to a night-kill, it suggests that someone in your PM-circle might be Zane. If everyone has the info about that suspicion, no new information is gained.

Okay, people seem to be misunderstanding the idea I presented, or at least seem to think I meant something more extreme than I did. I never said that we should not share anything in the thread, but there's definitely a middle ground between 'sharing top ten lists of people you think most suspicious' and 'just voting without saying anything'. I also never said I believed that idea was something that everyone needed to put into practice. I do admit I'd missed how restricted PM's would be this game, but the overall point stands. Its quite possible to have a meaningful lynch discussion without giving the mistborn all the tools they need to track down the remainder of the elims, but I don't know whether its worth the additional loss of information whenever someone dies, which is why I brought it forward as a point of discussion. The fact that a bunch of people instead seem to be using it as a D1 lynch excuse without commenting on why it might be a good or bad idea is interesting, to put it mildly. In particular, I expected a lot better from Mailliw. Accusing people off 'treason' because they're trying to figure out how best to approach a non-standard game setup is very unproductive. Is definitely not going to help people speak their mind.

@Araris Valerian, if you vote on ark wasn't a poke vote, what was it motivated by? Just the fact that you wanted to lynch somebody and didn't particularly care who? I mostly agree with Fura's role analysis (and I'm thankful for that, as it saves me from having to do something similar while I don't really have the time for it). However, I would like to point out that certain roles, such as smoker 2, rioter 1 and soother 1 might decide to abstain from using their roles in the opening stages of the game to avoid fouling up investigative roles and keep the elims guessing at the amount of vote manip available respectively. Now, I've got a bit of a point of discussion that I'd like to hear people's stances on. Normally I'm all for always being open with your analysis and sharing all your suspicions with the thread. However, because the village loses if all the elims get caught before the unstable mistborn are brought down, a case could be made for keeping suspicions outside of your voting decisions more under wraps, and playing the elim-hunting game more in PM's. I'm not sure which way I lean here, and I'm curious what the opinions of other people are.

I was going to sit a couple of games out to focus on my master's Thesis. However, I just realized that this is the post-championship game, and those are generally intersting as people are fired up from spectating the championship, so I'll be Joining up as De'Tess, a kandra that unfortunately got stuck in a city under siege after her last contract ended early with he death of her client. Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You know what the worst thing was? I'd woken up just a bit before the end of that cycle, and after seeing Maill's post I was seriously considering asking Kidpen to submit the kill instead. So not only did you have a hunch, I had a counter-hunch. It's just a shame I didn't act on it.- 258 replies

Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You know, I wonder if this was actually an anti-rope gambit. Don't submit a kill, and let the village mislynch on a rope if one was used. Ah well, I'll learn what actually went down in a couple of days at most. Ugh, I'm sorry I'm so late in responding. I was pretty dead so I couldn't get my customary evening post up. Anyway, I'm going to put my vote on cadcom. He was the most ready to jump on this admission, rather than waiting to see if anyone else had been blocked, and given the mislynches we had the last two cycles that bothers me. -

So I should have kept information behind and waited fro someone to claim to have used a rope on me? Safer for me to own up and not paint a potential target on someone's back by forcing them to claim the act. -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wait, what? That doesn't check out at all. This means that either both mailliw and cadcom are elims, or one of kidpen or Joe is evil. Apart from my attempt to get cadvom's breath total, who else got roleblocked? Everyone except xinoehp was active so I doubt the elims forgot to submit a kill. edit: okay, I've read through what happened in the cycle yesterday. @Mailliw73, can you explain your suspicion of me? You said you had a case but never actually presented it. I'm assuming you were also the one to roleblock me then? -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That might have been what you intended to say, but not what I understood from it. I read it to mean that you just considered yourself responsible because you'd been championing the 'lynch cadcom' side of things, rather than you'd been actively recruiting people to vote that way in PM's, and that seems like something that you'd state explicitly if you wanted to share it (Aluminium hat-theory: Sart got killed by the elims to hide that this recruitment was going on by elim!Maill, which made the lynch of Alvron go smoother). Anyway, based on their positions on the steel wagon, I'm leaning fairly village on Joe and Kidpen. That leaves me a suspect-pool of just 3 players, being cadcom, mailliw and Xinoehp. If we assume 3 elims, then 2 of these 3 need to be evil. I don't think Mailliw and cadcom are both evil (and if they are, then i congratulate them on their acting-skills), so the elim team would either be cadcom and Xinoehp or Mailliw and Xinoehp. I feel like the pairing of Xinoehp-cadcom fits slightly better due to the way Xinoehp seemed somewhat protective of cadcom during C1. So, the safest option would seem to be lynching Xinoehp, as by my estimate he's guaranteed to be evil. Of course, that leaves resolving mailliw/cadcom to the next cycle, but something might help make it clearer which of them would be evil. However, I don't feel 100% certain excluding @A Joe in the Bush and @Kidpen from the list of suspects, because both of them have been pretty quiet, so I'd love to hear some thoughts from them. For now I'll lodge a vote against Xinoehp. -

DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
So, if not Alv, then who? I mentioned last cycle that I can see a cadcom-Xinoehp team-up, but Alvron's reveal that apparently Mailliw had asked him to vote for cadcom is intersting. In and of itself its understandable as mailliw seems rather suspicious of cadcom. However, Mailliw didn't bring this forward in defence of Alvron when the votes starts piling up on him, and that is suspicious imo. I'll take a look around to see if I can figure out who a potential team-mate for elim!mailliw could be. -

That's interesting, but the more damning vote was your vote in C2 that directly rescued steel from the lynch. Was there outside influence on that one as well? @Mailliw73, do you have anytging to add to this? -

Could you explain this read a bit more? I'm having a hard time getting a solid read on Maill, myself. -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Time is still not really on my side, but I've at least got some time to do a review of the two people that I don't have solid reads on yet, being Xinoehp and Maill. Xinoehp actually had a decent turn of activity in the first cycle of the game, though I see little in the way of Alignment indicative stuff. Xinoehp was rather protective of Cadcom during C1, however, so if Alvron is village, I could see cadcom and Xinoehp being the remaining elims. It should also be noted that Xinoehp seemed to be kicking a bit of shade in the direction of steel with regards too the Ark lynch, but never followed up on that. I don't have a solid lead on Xinoehp right now. Now, on to Maill. It should be noted that I have a fairly active PM with him, which usually makes my read on someone trend towards the village side if no other evidence presents itself. I'd like to think that after the fifth time of getting bamboozled by Orlok that way I've learned a thing or two, but we'll see Anyway, first note-worthy thing: the breath auction. I can think of a variety of reasons why someone of either alignment might do that, but I'm curious if Maill is willing to explain that one. Maill was the first to vote on Ark. I'd say this is probably NAI, especially given how early it happened in the cycle. He also voted early on Steel C2, which does make him look better given how close things came to lynching Steel C2. I've already remarked on their voting last cycle. Overall Maill seems rather clean. I don't have a particularly solid read on him, but I'm leaning a bit village right now. -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well then. Lets start with a quick vote in honour of Sart: Alvron. He voted to save Steel C2, and attempted to swing the vote away from him C3. on a related note, @Cadmium Compounder and @Kidpen, would you be willing to reveal how much breath you got from the lynch? Because I think it's possible steel was the one that killed lumgol, and it'd be nice to confirm. I got 2, which means Steel had at least 8 breath. Now, to take a more in-depth look at the development of the votes last cycle, as I suspect that'll be telling. The first vote on Steeldancer was Rathmaskal, who moved his vote off of cadcom and created a 3-way tie between alvron, steeldancer and cadcom. The vote was supported with some arguments. If cadcom is village I'd say Rathmaskal is certainly village. if cadcom is an elim there's still a chance for Rathmaskal to be evil, but only a small one. The next vote on Steel was joe, which put steel in the lead. I really wish Joe was providing more argumentation, as that'd allow me to get a better grasp on his position, but I see little reason why elim!joe would vote there as he did, especially if Steel had as big a load of breath as it looks like he did. Cadcom makes the fourth vote on Steel, which happens at at time when the steel wagon seemed the only really viable one. Alvron had 2 votes, but one of them was cadcom's, and I believe I was the only other one to really state suspicion of Alv, and at that point I'd already locked in my vote against steeldancer. After that, the cadcom wagon gets built up rather quickly with votes from Sart, Alvron and steel in addition to Maill's vote. I kinda wish this wagon had been on anyone else, as it'd have been telling to see what way cadcom voted wit that tie created. After that, kidpen votes to break the tie against steeldancer again, and Maill drops his vote from the Cadcom wagon, but doesn't add it to the steel wagon. This is an interesting development here. He indirectly reinforces the steel wagon by increasing the gap between the steel and cadcom votes. However, he doesn't jump on the steel vote, which would have gotten him at least 1 breath, something elim!Maill would have known. Then again, he could have avoided adding his vote there precisely because it'd make a lot of sense for an end-of-cycle elim vote. So, as a consequence of yesterday's vote, I'm leaning village on Rath, joe and somewhat on kidpen. I'm leaning elim on alvron, and I'm not really leaning one way or another on Maill. I'm also leaning somewhat elimy on Cadcom, but for different reasons, though I want to see how the Alvron lynch works out first. The reasons I'm currently somewhat leaning elim on cadcom is because he made a bit of a soft-defense for steel, and his vote came around the time when the steel wagons seemed locked in. As I've said before I don't see much of a chance of Alvron and cadcom being on the same team because of the C1 votes, and I'm more suspicious of Alvron, so that's where I'm voting right now. -
Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm very tired as I type this, so it'll likely be a rambling mess. my apologies in advance. The idea of an Alvron, cadcom and steel team is intriguing, but I don't see it working because of Alvron's D1 vote on Cadcom. That vote could easily have led to a lynch on cadcom at that time, so I can't see Alvron as being on the same team as cadcom. I can, however, see Cadcom and steeldancer being potential team-mates, though I'm currently not that suspicious of Cadcom. Either way, my main suspects right now are Alvron and Steel, with Joe somewhere behind that given how different his play-style seemed, though the comment of his I mentioned before in D2 shows that he seems to be working to solve the game. Anyway, what infromation could we egt from hte lynches of either Alvron or steel? If Alvron is an elim, I'd say it most likely exonerates cadcom and throws suspicion on steel given Alvron's role in turning the lynch away from him. If Alvron is village, I'm not seeing much in the way of information being gained. If Steel is evil, It makes Alvron look worse given Alv's role in saving steel, and it makes cadcom look somewhat worse for similar reasons, as well as some potential hedginess in the way cadcom set up his vote here (though as I said before, I don't think cadcom and alvron are both elims). If steel is village, it means there was no direct malicious motive to the direction Alvron swung the vote last cycle, and it leaves me no more suspicious of Cadcom. Looking at it this way, the steeldancer lynch looks better as some information is gained no matter how he flips, while the amount of info gained if he flips elims is similar to the amount of info gained from an elim!alv lynch. Anyway, this'll be my last post for the day. I'll try to get a decent overview of all players done next cycle if I'm still alive, Because I feel like I'm tunnelling a bit on the likes of Alvron and Steel who are active, but as far as I can tell not really working to solve the game. -

Does someone have a link to a game in which steeldancer was lynched as an elim for me? I remember seeing Steeldancer becoming fairly defensive when threathened by a lynch before as a villager (which is something I consider somewhat suspicious usually), and I want to see if there is any difference in their reactions as an elim. @A Joe in the Bush, you made an interesting comment about the interactions between lumgol and Maill last cycle, so I'd love to see some more insights rather than just agreements with other peoples and votes from you. -

Quick Fix Game 37: Black Shadows in T'Telir
DeTess replied to Young Bard's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Young Bard, could you add a final vote-list? I'm curious if any strawmen where used. So, the arguments for the Elandera lynch where a gut feeling (cadcom), sheeping cadcom (steel), reasoned suspicions from C1 (Sart) and unstated suspicions (alvron). 4 votes, only one with some analysis backing it up. If Lumgol hadn't proven to be a villager, I'd suspect that at least one of the votes was made to get the heat off of her. @Alvron, what made you more suspicious of Elandera than of Steeldancer, the other main suspect at that time? The other wagon was on Steeldancer, for the way he's been following other people's reasons for voting without really adding much in way of his own thoughts. @Steeldancer (and @Alvron too, for that matter), could you tell me who you suspect most and who you suspect least right now? To answer that question myself, I've currently got a village lean on Sart, as I'm seeing real effort there to analyze and solve the game, while both Steeldaner and Alvron are keeping their thoughts to themselves and haven't added much in the way of analysis or other insights that could help solve the game. Off the two of them, this is odder for Steeldancer than it is for Alvron. @Kidpen, @Rathmaskal, neither of you posted last cycle. Do you have anything to add to that has been said so far
