  4. I was ridiculously tickled by the idea of the restaurant at the end of the universe and couldn't resist writing a little something in the fanfic section. It's okay to share it here right? Hope you guys enjoy!
  5. Reviving a dead thread here, but hey, loving all the ideas here! After reading all your discussions, I decided to try my hand at writing a little something based on this over here Hope you guys enjoy it and reignite this cool discussion!
  6. Today was a relatively quiet day in the Restaurant at the End of the Cosmere. Most of the usual people were here, nursing their drinks, talking in quiet tones. They were all worldhoppers, of course. Drawn from all the corners of the Cosmere: Sel, Scadrial, Roshar, Nalthis, Taldain and Threnody. Rosharan heat fabrials warmed the restaurant, while the walls had been tastefully decorated by a native of Nalthis with the Fifth Heightening, so it looked aesthetically pleasing from almost any angle. The floors were plain tile, and at a corner was a Scadrialian machine that played music, operated by a sleepy Scadrilian armed with a bandolier of medallions. The machine only played Scadrilian music, which often annoyed the Nalthis worldhoppers with the second Heightening, but it was tolerated. There was a shining pool outside the entrance, which many worldhoppers used to get here from the Physical Realm. The bartender was always there, greeting newcomers, catching up on news, serving drinks. Only very few of the patrons knew who he truly was, and they weren’t telling. (Yes of course Khriss knows). A sign on the wall stated the rules of the Restaurant. Brawling of any kind is prohibited, either with Awakened Objects, Allomancy, Feruchemy, Hemalurgy, Surgebinding, AonDor, Soulforging, Sand Mastery or plain physical brawling No interplanetary warmongering Be nice to each other. No Hoid. At one table, some of the Seventeenth Shard were grumbling over their drinks about their long drawn-out and futile search for that impossible, thrice-cursed Hoid. They had been joined by a new member, Wan ShaiLu from Sel, whom Galladon had apparently recruited when she showed up in Elantris. She was cursing his name very creatively indeed. They had just come from Roshar, intending to go to Nalthis next. (The King’s Wit was probably laughing very hard indeed all the way in Roshar.) Kelsier sat in a far corner, (Without Marsh today, thankfully) nursing his metal-sprinkled ale. (You had to specify which world’s ale you were ordering, or you might end up with Selish Connection drinks, which made you want to draw for hours, or Rosharan Horneater Ale, which could melt cups.) Being a Cognitive Shadow rather than a physical being inside the Cognitive Realm, he didn’t actually need to drink, but he liked to keep up the pretense. Besides, he liked having Demoux worship him whenever he walked in, which often caused Seventeenth Shard meetings to be delayed. Mostly he sat, absorbing the gossip from all around the Cosmere, always grinning at people at seeming like he was formulating some dark, deep plot. At another end, Khriss was scribbling down her latest thoughts on life, the universe, and everything. Alternately, she could be writing her next Ars Arcana, having just visited Sel. Kenton half dozed beside her. Nazh was doodling Aons on a piece of parchment, thankful for the break. There had been a particularly hasty escape when Nazh had tried to study a naked Dakhor monk at Khriss’ request. She owed him a drink for that one. And there were the Kandra, of course. Mysterious group, they tended to keep to themselves when they visited the restaurant. They never stayed long, only coming in for a short drink before going to whatever Shardworld Harmony was currently showing an interest in. They tended to switch back to their natural forms inside the restaurant, which freaked people out, of course. That’s probably why no one knew their names yet despite them having frequented the bar for years. Vasher had dropped in for another visit in between his trips from Nalthis to Roshar. As per usual, he had a large pile of empty mugs beside him and was currently holding another pint of ale. Vivenna sat beside him, primly reading a book. Blessedly, Nightblood was nowhere to be seen. Iyatil was back, taking Mraize for another spot of Worldhopping. They had just visited Scadrial, and apparently were due for a visit to Threnody, seeing as how Mraize had been bartering for silver knives at the restuarant’s small merchandise stall. Silver was always in good stock in the restaurant, seeing as how nobody wanted their drinks interrupted by a bunch of red-eyed cognitive shadows. The restaurant filled with a quiet, content hum. News flashed relatively quickly through the Worldhopper community. A plot on Scadrial, Harmony facing a red mist. Kandra quietly inquiring after ‘Trell’. Roshar was a dangerous place to be in, currently, due to the Everstorm coming. Business as usual in Sel and Nalthis. On another note, Joshin and Mi’chelle were settling in nicely at Scadrial. Congratulations all around. The bell rang hesitantly, and a ragged figure entered. Her dress was tattered, and hemmed at the knees. She had a glove made of the same material as her dress on her left hand. She was tall, regal, although looking much the worse for wear. She had violet eyes and was currently holding a rather large Shardblade. Rosharian. She blinked, taking in the scene before her. The other worldhoppers barely spared her a glance before returning to their respective conversations. The bartender smiled and waved her over to an empty table. Jasnah Kholin blinked again. “I’m at a bar,” she stated in her flattest voice, “In the middle of the Shadesmar.” Only Vivenna stood to welcome her, shooting an exasperated glance at an inebriated Vasher. “Hello, stranger. You would best leave your weapon outside. Welcome to the Restaurant at the End of the Cosmere!”
  7. This is a little story inspired by this discussion over here. I found it and couldn't resist playing with it for a while. All credit where its due, yes, I got the idea from that thread and the discussions there. Hope you enjoy it! I have no fixed plans for this, but perhaps an anthology of the worldhoppers swapping stories and stuff. Also, this story won't be purely mine, for I encourage you guys to freely throw in ideas and even write sections for yourself! Let's have fun imagining what those worldhoppers get up to between books. Story premise: Worldhoppers have to congregate somewhere, don't they? WoB says that the place where they congregate isn't in the Physical Realm, so consensus is that its in the Cognitive Realm. Imagine, a restaurant at the end of the cosmere, possibly owned by a Shard, where all the worldhoppers gather to unwind, relax, network and basically have a drink.
  8. You make a good point about two sides of a coin. So skaze are splinters of Dominion and seons are of devotion, right?
  9. Also, I'm pretty sure the name 'Seventeenth Shard' is meant to imply that they're a separate entity from the other 16 shards of Adonalsium. So I really don't think they're acting on the intent of any one shard.
  10. If anything, the seventeenth shard seems to be acting on Frost's orders, as Hoid explicitly tells Frost to call off the shard in the first letter.
  11. Galladon from Sel (Elantris), Demoux from scadrial (Mistborn) and Baon from Taldain (White Sand) are the members of the seventeenth shard that show up in the purelake interlude. Felt is a guy that shows up at keep venture in Mistborn and in the kholin warcamp. Iyatil is presumed to have a connection with South scadrial due to the mask she wears. Vasher and Nightblood from nalthis shows up, as you said. And of course, Nazh from Threnody and Khriss from Taldain provide the maps and ars arcana. Think that's about it
  12. Pretty awesome, @Mistbinder! It's much less rough than mine :-) . Wanna try your hand at a Words of Radiance one?
  13. I'm spending waaay too much time on Seventeenth Shard

  14. When you say lashing, do you mean using adhesion as a full lashing or gravitation to lash an object to yourself? If I recall correctly, spikes and metalminds in Mistborn couldn't be affected by allomancy due to the investiture inside, right? However, if you were to use lashing, I don't see why not. Adhesion and Gravitation are physical forces, not magical ones, so it doesn't matter how much investiture is in something, gravity still affects it. Same goes for adhesion. Someone tell me if theres' a WoB contradicting me.
  15. In one of Dalinar's visions in Words of Radiance, we get this. Dalinar has a vision of a lake, and soldiers walking through a lake to find some sort of spren. A female radiant is with them, with Plate that apparently looks like Adolin's. When the Thunderclast emerges, we get this quote concerning the Radiant. We're still uncertain which Order this Radiant was of, but hey, your question is answered. At least two orders of Radiants had a surge that allows them to move unhindered by water. It is likely to be an Edgedancer though, seeing as Friction is the most likely Surge causing this.
  16. Inappropriate because? Because of the current situation? Because of what we know of her from other places? Because of her whole pose or something? I feel the inappropriateness, sure. Just trying to pin down which one it is
  17. Alright guys, here's something I came up with and could not resist sharing with the rest of you Mistborn fans. You know that final battle in Hero of Ages? That final, heartbreaking battle? I found a song by Two Steps from Hell and decided to put it to the battle. Storms, it fit Perfectly. Please guys. try this. Play the song, and read the text below according to the timestamps I put. I promise you won't be disappointed ( I hope) 0:00- 0:30 = Vin, floating in the Mists. The army of Koloss advances, hundreds of thousands. Ruin stands gloating. Inside the pits, Elend is speaking. "I ask of you your lives. I ask of you your lives, and your courage. I ask of you your faith, and your honor - your strength and your compassion. For today, I lead you to die. I do not ask you to welcome this event. I will not insult you by asking you to call it well, or just, or even glorious. But I will say this." As he speaks, we see the people, their faces fearful. We see Sazed waiting. We see the Kandra collecting the atium. 0:30- !:00 = "Each moment you fight is a gift to those in this cavern. Every second we fight is a second longer that thousands of people may draw breath. Each stroke of the sword, each Koloss felled, each breath earned is a victory. It is a person protected for a moment longer, a life extended, an enemy frustrated!" As Elend speaks, their faces firm. They hold their weapons tighter. As his voice continues to speak, they assemble by the cave, looking out into the enemy beyond. They stood, Elend at the fore, a bright dot on an endless canvas of blue. Elend's voice rings as they move forward. "In the end, they will kill us. But first, they shall fear us!!!" 1:00- 1:40 Through Vin's eyes, Elend bursts with brilliant energy as the entire army charges at the Koloss. They don't die. They don't die, they explode with light just as Elend did, each man creating thousands of atium shadows. They meet the first wave, the Koloss swing their swords, and not a single Koloss sword finds its target. They don't die, every sweep of their swords destroy more than one Koloss, and every Koloss sword seems to miss by breaths. The Koloss start dying, and the army punches through them, performing incredible feats. They leap over swords, they sidestep blades, often causing the Koloss to kill each other in their anger. Not a single drop of human blood is spilled, but the ground is littered with Koloss corpse. They fight back, three hundred against hundreds of thousands. Each soldier as if a god, each soldier sweeping through the Koloss as if blades cutting water. And at their head, Elend, his white clothes glowing brighter than any other. They flag, but they down more beads of atium. Hundreds of thousands of beads being burned, an army invincible. 1:40- 2:08 Through Elends eyes, the world is white and blue, atium shadows and Koloss. He runs, untouchable, through the field. Hundreds of blue bodies lie in his wake. Then he falls. He hits the ground. He rolls out of the way of a sword, and downs another bead. His beads are low. He then hears the first human scream. He turns, to see one of his soldiers go down in a spray of blood. As he whirls, he understands. The atium is going. They have fought magnificently, but there is no more atium. Another soldier screams, his heart aches. He turns to see more and more of his soldiers going down screaming, and he sees Marsh the Inquisitor with his obsidian axe. He understands. This is the end. He firms his stance, meets Marsh's eyes. Then takes a last look at they sky. Only to see the Mists charging, he sees like an enormous angel of pure white, Vin. Hair streaming backwards, mist flaring like wings across the sky. reaching for him. 2:08- 2:40 The atium shadows return. His body jerks as his reserves increase by a hundredfold. Again he rises, and he charges towards Marsh. From Vin's eyes, the army continues to charge, as with Preservation's power she fuels them, giving them strength, power, hope. She flies above the army, her arms outstretched towards them as a parent embracing her children. Each soldier jerks upright, strength feeding them once more. They could run, but they do not. They look back at the pits, where their famlies lie, they look back to the Koloss, and once again they charge. The look on their faces now is not one of triumph, as it was in their first charge. The time for victory was past. This time, there is only a grim determination. The Koloss continue to overwhelm, but the soldiers do. not. yield. The last soldier uses his last bead of atium. Then they start dying. 2:40 - 3:12 Below, Marsh finally corners Elend. They duel, axes clanging on swords, two beings of incredible power using the full force of their allomancy. Elend dances between Marsh's brutal attacks, but even he cannot last forever against the augmented power of the Inquisitors Marsh grab's Elend's throat. The Koloss begin to enter the pits. The last soldier was dead. Three hundred soldiers had killed over twenty times their number, but in the end, the Koloss entered the pits. Yet Elend smiles. "We've won, Marsh." Above them, Ruin stand stock still. A koloss has entered the pits, and through his eyes he sees the empty pits. " Ruin's body is gone. That is why we win. " Ruin screams. Pain, disbelief and pure rage. Elend smiles. At the highest point of the chorus, Marsh's axe takes off Elend's head. 3:12 - 3:44 Vin floats, in pure shock. She sees Elend's body crumple slowly. It finally comes to a rest. She reaches incorporeal fingers to his head, seeing the peace now on it. Elend was that. she knew that. and there was nothing she could do. She finds that she is at peace, because she has let him go long ago. Ruin is laughing, thrashing. How do you like that? I killed him! I ruined everything you love! I took him away from you! She stands, gathering all of Preservation's power. Realizing finally Preservation's plan. She speaks quietly. "You just made one final mistake. You shouldn't have killed Elend. You see. He was the only reason I had left to live." Ruin pales. 3:44- 4:25 A titanic clash. Black clashes with White. Ruin screams. Vin shuts her eyes. Their essences clash, Ruin's black and Preservation's white burning each other away. Every moment is one of agony for Vin, and yet she is at peace. Grappling in a plane far above, the power and Intents of the Shards cancel each other out, and in an instant, Preservation and Ruin is no more. Below, a wave seems to pass through the world. The women, the children, moments from being slaughtered by Koloss, watch in fear as the Koloss suddenly lumber to a confused stop. Bereft of direction, of purpose, they begin to exit the pits. The women and children clutch each other, weeping with joy and sorrow. They had won, they were safe, but the cost had been bitter indeed. But they were safe. They were safe. 4:25- 4:51 Sazed emerges, and sees Vin and Ati smoking on the ground. he gasps, he sobs, he questions. Finally he understands. He takes the Shards, and recreates the world. The sun retreats. Constellations whirl into the sky. Green grass catches like wildfire across the earth, massive behemoths of trees sprout. Ashmounts sink into the ground. The ash dissolves like snow. The Mists disappear. Flowers flare their way across the earth. Colors flame across the land. The land is beautiful. 4:51 to end. The people emerge. They gasp at the whole new world. They rejoice. The sit down in shock. Spook wakes, fully healed. The rest of teh crew, Ham and the others, they lived. Spook looks around, and he sees the circle of flowers. At the centre of the flowers he found two people. VIn lay in her mistcloak, shirt and trousers, Elend lay in his white uniform, complete with cape. They held hands as they lay amidst the flowers. And they were both dead. He looks up, sees the yellow sun in the blue sky, he sees teh green grass and the beautiful flowers. His hand grasps Beldre's. And together they walk into this new world. Fade to black There is no victory without sacrifice.

    Hi

Heyy welcome! I love the Alcatraz brand of snark too XD. What other fandoms are you in?
  20. Hey XD. Have an upvote anyway?
  21. Isn't the fjordell way more of Dominion than devotion? Cmon! The way to serve your God is to conquer everyone else and make them convert?
  22. Isn't she more cosmere!Twilight than Rarity? I think that's why people were annoyed. Khriss is a researcher, not a fashion model XD
  23. How bout more individual character posters for spren haha. Like a picture, name, and them saying something in response to being on a poster XD SYL- HONORSPREN (arms folded, smiling mischievously) "You forgot the compliment!" PATTERN- CRYPTIC (bemused, arms behind back) "Mmmm. I seem to be on display. How interesting" WYNDLE - VOIDBRINGER (Looking exasperated) "I am not a Voidbringer!" THE STORMFATHER ( bored/deadpan) "GOODBYE "
  24. You know what else would be interesting? Lift helping Hauka become a Radiant and sort of unwittingly guoding her through the bonding process. "If you see a voidbringer, ya gotta say the words to capture it!" "I'm pretty sure that not a voidbringer" "That's what they all say!"
