  1. I got that, I was wondering who Kal had cut, and because I couldn't remember any scene that maked sense, I thought it was from Oathbringer.
  2. What exactly is this about? Is it about something that happens in Oathbringer? And if it is, just say yes and leave it at that, you don't have to explain any further.
  3. Theoretically, 1 day. When actually doing things like sleeping, 2 days. But this is when I don't have anything I need to do for other things, if I do, I can't be entirely sure, but it will probably land between 4 days and a week.
  4. Ah, alright. I probably missed some more recent WoBs on that.
  5. Is it actually possible for a Fullborn to be born naturally? I thought that the different sDNA of the two abilities intervened with each other, making only twinborn possible, and not fullborn. Edit: WoBs http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kw=twinborn
  6. Ah, alright, I thought you were talking about Feruchemical nicrosil specifically.
  7. Does Feruchemical nicrosil actually store kinetic investure? I was under the impression that it stores innate investure, which is what allowed the medallions to work. And if any kinetic investure would work, couldn't you hack any old metalmind to fuel surgebinding when tapping from it?
  8. One of the reasons he could do it was because he wasn't actually hurting Kelsier. The reason Kelsier was hurt was because Kelsier instinctively knows that being beaten up should hurt, so his own mind supplied the pain for him. (Secret Histories, part 2, chapter 1)
  9. Is it bad that I noticed the similarity at 14 without having watched Star Wars, just playing the lego games?
  10. On that note, what would somebody with only steelsight actually see when burning the temporal metals?
  11. Kandra isn't included...
  12. Overlap multiplicative Found thanks to @Kurkistan: Edit: Ninja'd by @Wreith
  13. Seconded with Banks, I'd also like to add the Lost Fleet series and (depending on whether or not you view it as scifi), Jules Verne.
  14. So what would happen if you added a couple of Sliders and Pulsers to the mix?
  15. Now, whether or not Rithmatist and Alcatraz are part of the Reckoners multiverse...
  16. Still finding it funny that the couple of times I've seen the machete order mentioned, 1 was always left out. For my own contributions: - I liked the Inheritance Cycle (yes, it has flaws, but it was one of the things that got me reading fantasy) - I really dislike Harry Potter's magic system. The books aren't that bad, but as soon as I started reading books with harder magic systems I started to dislike it. And worst of all: - I like Lift ;-)
  17. First of all, Kandra sDNA is different than human sDNA, given that it's a different species. Also, by default, their sDNA gives a block between their physical body and cognitive self (aka Mistwraiths). The issue is that there is no real telling how much of that will be inherited by their children, meaning that any kids may have some severe mental issues, depending on how the sDNA changes from their spikes impact the end result. Second of all, changes in sDNA can result in changes in the physical body. This means that it's possible that a Kandra's shapeshifting is also encoded in their sDNA, possibly giving you a kid that could be a shapeshifter, but because the sDNA isn't complete, this could cause complications with their shifting, anything from no control, to only limited shifting (just changing appearance, instead of really complex stuff), to a human without shifting capability but a kandra like body (no skeleton).
  18. Hi, welcome, have a cookie.
  19. Oh, I was thinking you meant Wayne's sDNA. I don't think a Kandra can pass on the sDNA of the person they're imitating, only their own.
  20. For Allomancy and Feruchemy I'd say theoretically yes, but the combination with Kandra SDNA would cause some complications. Though, Kandra can use Hemalurgy to get abilities, so maybe it wouldn't be that far fetched.
  21. So how would this work with conservation of momentum? Because at the moment of firing you would need to make yourself as heavy as possible, to counteract the recoil of the gun, but this would also mean that you lose almost all of your speed. If you go back to light again, this would give you your speed back, but wouldn't the small change in momentum from the recoil suddenly come back as well? That's at least the idea I get from it. And if it works that way, you can't fly, because the kinetic energy of the bullet would be the exact opposite of the kinetic energy from the recoil, so if you pull on it, the maximum amount of speed you could get from it is equal to the amount of speed you lost from the recoil.
  22. I haven't read the books themselves in Dutch, but the cover blurb already has some interesting translations. Mistborn = Nevelaar, which somewhat translates to mistborn, but means something more along the lines of fog, or haze. Allomancer = ertsmagiër, which basically translates as ore magician. (Saw the cover blurbs in the library, while already having read the English versions. I never felt the temptation to actually read them after that)
  23. True, but weren't a lot of the Feruchemy spikes Inquisitors used before Ruin's release hand me downs? In SH we can see that they retrieve spikes from dead Inquisitors. Given how rare Feruchemists were, and that they were hiding as much as they could, it would make sense that a lot of the Feruchemy spikes were at least a few generations old.
  24. True, but how well would this be noticed? Bleeder was both storing spikes in blood to prevent decay, and she was using a special metal with as of yet unconfirmed effects on Hemalurgy. It could be possible that this caused the decay to be low enough to be fairly hard to notice. I do think you're right however in that it should have been noticeable to some extent, but it is possible that she simply had enough stored that it didn't really matter.
