  1. KanMien peeked around the corner, and saw a group of Ghostbloods attacking the defenders. Taking stock of their positions, KanMien rounded the corner, and opened fire. Two died, then another one dropped, shot in his stomach. The men noticed them, and started shooting back, while others rushed forwards bearing swords and spears. Bullets flew around them, and they starting picking off the men rushing her. When they reached them, only one was still standing, though KanMien was bleeding from multiple bullet wounds. The man stabbed his spear through her stomach. KanMien gasped, but smiled, pointing their gun at his head, and killing him. As he collapsed, they started shooting at the remaining gunmen, killing them too. Pulling out the spear, she tore off a piece of the dead man's flesh, and ate it, using it to heal their wounds.
  2. Can one of the mods check two of my existing characters, KanMien and Kumiko? I want to know how many points they actually have left if I want to have them improve a bit. Edit: Sorry, accidentally put this in the wrong thread. If one of the mods sees this, can you move it the discussions thread? Thanks.
  3. KanMien and Kumiko warped into the complex, weapons drawn, Kumiko in cat form. Kumiko looked around her, amazed at the plants, while KanMien sighed, remembering the last time they were in a monastery. "Focus," they called out to Kumiko. "I know," she replied back. "I'm aware this place is dange..." her voice cutting off as two Ghostbloods rounded the corner. Both groups looked at each other in surprise, but the Ghostbloods recovered quickly, and rushed in to attack them. Unfortunately for them, Kumiko had recovered quicker, and as one of the men tried to attack her she flipped over him, slashing his jugular with her claws along the way. While the other man was distracted by Kumiko, KanMien took the opportunity to put three rounds into his chest, killing him as well. Walking over to Kumiko, KanMien put their hand on her head. "Take his form," they said at her, pointing at the man they had shot. "After that, we'll split up. Just kill anyone wearing their uniform." Kumiko nodded. "What about you?" She asked. "Are you going to take the other one?" KanMien hesitated, but shook their head. "Taking his form would take too long," they said. "I'll just go like this." They threw one more look at Kumiko, who now had the same appearance as the man they had killed, except for the wounds. "Also," they told her, "if you get in trouble, just AlleyTravel out of here. We're supposed to help, not get ourselves killed." Kumiko nodded, and walked off. KanMien watched the direction she had walked off in for a bit, before turning around and moving away in the other direction.
  4. Maybe a more scientific form could be interesting, such as nano-based tech, or psychic powers?
  5. Mostly because it'll either leave you with little ability to interact with the plot, or because if you have a Genius Loci with a large enough reach to be active in the plot, they are strong enough to have a high risk of becoming a Deus Ex Machina. For example, the current plot is going to happen inside the city, so your Genius Loci would probably be connected to at least a decent part of it, and basically have perfect knowledge of what is happening, and full control over that part of the city. Here first. The character doc doesn't give notifications if something is updated, and everyone is much more likely to view this thread.
  6. Technically yes, but it wouldn't be a good idea, since the whole thing behind a Genius Loci is that they can't move away from their home-turf, and inside of it they have enough control over the place that you'd be effectively having a Mac tier character.
  7. Probably a result of the entire original concept being build around the idea of larger groups spying on each other, and creating secret plans. Era 1 still worked because Mraize had already created a plot and actually shared the basics with us, which gave a good guide-line to work with, but Era 2 messed it up because everyone tried to create their own plots, and Era 3 decided to continue it by letting the original main plot slide away, though it still isn't that bad, and the new universes might help with averting more gambit pileups/train-wrecks.
  8. If we're going like the reckoners RP for developing the story we do need to make sure we communicate our ideas though, and not have secret plot twists going on, or at least keep them small. Otherwise we'll probably just end up with a giant confused train-wreck for a plot.
  9. Sure. Btw, for comments/OOC talk, are we going to be using quotation boxes or just post stuff in this thread? I'd personally prefer using this thread, since it means we have all discussion for both worldbuilding and character/story things in one place, and we won't be filling multiple pages of the rp thread with discussions instead of actual roleplaying.
  10. Lilia's Innate magic is actually based around this, but I didn't add the full version because it would be a bit too strong, and wouldn't fit with the way local spirits work, since power is much more focused in a smaller number of spirits, instead of spread out.
  11. We still only have two smallish (the size of the US when combined) continents. We could probably still do a lot on a different continent if we'd ever start a new plot-line. Personal suggestion, they don't have Investure crystals or symbols, and work magic through spirits instead, with each object having it's own spirit, using this to manipulate the world.
  12. I've never run one either, so I probably won't be that much help. I'd say just use some NPCs to railroad the plot a bit if things get too far out of hand (either that or adjust the plot).
  13. I'm not a Ghostblood, I'm a DA member. @Element of Chaos?
  14. Sounds good. Are you also planning to act as GM, or is someone else going to do that? Also, are you going to do the advertisement, or should I do it?
  15. I'd say yes if there are stories about this specific pair having children, otherwise, they either can't or just aren't really interested in it. Either that or the lack of stories would mean the children (as pure spirits), wouldn't have anything to anchor them to the world and would just disappear.
  16. Alright, thanks. Who's going to start the thread btw? And are we going to do it now, or wait untill tomorrow to see if anyone still has something that needs to be decided before we can start?
  17. To be fair, I basically brought it up because I already had one, and wanted to iron out how their abilities would work.
  18. Alright, sounds good. Perhaps for names we should just stick to Descendant, since we might want to use the changeling myth later on, and it would be annoying for the name to be taken already. I think we have everything to start RPing now? P.S. Here's the edited version of my character, taking the notes about Descendants into account. tl;dr: She can see spirits that hide themselves or that aren't powerful enough to be visible to others (think Rock from SA). She's also capable of physically interacting with them, even if they aren't corporeal. She can also ask them to do things for her, but with no guarantee of them actually doing it, or doing it in the way she intended.
  19. So for children of non-ascended parents, will they get any minor abilities, or will they be completely normal? As for names, maybe use Changelings for children of minor spirits, and possibly Legacy for children of non-ascended humans?
  20. Sorry, I don't think we have a chancellor yet.
  21. I'm not sure about the term demigod, since it implies a rather high level of power. It would probably work for people who parents are gods, but I also meant this as a guideline for characters who're children of people or spirits with a lot less power. For rarity, agreed. My own idea was that most of the time, this wouldn't result in powerful active abilities, except for either rare cases or parents with high levels of power (rank 5 or higher). For parents of lower ranks it would be limited to either extremely weak active powers (like being able to light a candle), just being a lot more skilled at something, like the child of a famous archer having a lot of innate skill with bows, or having a special form of sensory-type ability. Also, active abilities might need Investure crystals to work, instead of just working normally. A few examples: (Parent: class 3 human, hunter): Child has an instinctive ability for tracking prey. (Parent: class 5 genius loci, forest spirit): Child can control the forest their parent is connected with to some degree (only that specific forest). (Parent: class 4 human, fortune teller): Child sometimes has feelings about what is going to happen, this isn't controllable. (Parent: class 4 spirit, fire spirit): Child can create small flames (about enough to light a candle, or start a camp-fire). (Parent: class 6 human, god of the storms): Child knows when storms will come, and can manipulate wind.
  22. Nice character. As for starting RPing, that sounds good, though I have a final proposal regarding Innate and Natural magic I'd like to make. Basically, I want to propose a third type of Innate magic, Inherited magic. Basically, if someone affected by Natural magic has children, their Investure has a high chance to alter their children to some extent, giving them a special type of Innate magic, often related to their parents abilities. This would have a few rules of course: the level of power the Innate has is lower than their parent had at the moment of their conception. How much lower can vary though. Not every child of this parent has Innate abilities, and the exact ability and the strength of these abilities can vary between siblings. The Innate's level of power will not change if their parent's status changes. Note that this does not take Natural magic into account. For example, take a demi-god who has two children, one where their parentage is known and one where it isn't. The demi-god ascends. The child where people know the god is their parent will now be seen as the child of a god, and will receive prayers and stuff, which will enhance their powers. The child whose parents aren't known will keep their old level of power though, since nobody knows about them. The type of ability they get can vary, and doesn't have to be a perception ability, and can be an active ability, or just being more skillful at something or being stronger. The type of ability they get will often be related to their parent, but this doesn't have to be, and can also be related in a more tangential way, such as the child of a spirit being able to see spirits and interact with them, even those normal humans can't see. In same way, the child of a famous archer might be a natural warrior, or hunter, and might not have any skills with bows. On the other hand, the child of this archer might not be a great warrior or archer but might instead get the ability to form arrows out of light. (Unsure about this one, needs discussion) Active abilities might need Investure crystals to be used, since the children do not have access to Natural magic like their parent. Another possibility might be that they can do low-power things without the crystals, or boost their abilities using them. Of course, this means that if they got access to Natural magic they could use that to fuel their abilities instead. (Unsure about this one, needs discussion) People can only have one type of Innate magic. People who have this type of Innate magic cannot use Yin-Innate magic or Yang-Innate magic. Note that this doesn't mean a person with this type of Innate magic can only have one ability. Multiple abilities are possible, but rarer, and generally require more powerful parents. If a person has multiple abilities they'll also tend to be related, or different expressions of the same base ability. It is also possible for children of Natural magic users to have a standard type of Innate magic instead, or a variation on it. (Unsure about this one, needs discussion) Children of these legacies would also inherit their parent's abilities, but without much variation, and at a much lower power-level. Active abilities would fade from a family-line the fastest, and are generally gone within 4 generations. General skills, physical characteristics and perception abilities would fade slower, with slight traces remaining even after 7 generations, but at a point where it isn't really noticeable as supernatural anymore. Basically, this is meant as a general guide-line for creating character or NPCs who are children of spirits, heroes, gods and other Invested beings. I'm not really including any specific abilities, but I felt that it might be good to have a general idea of how this would work, and possibly debate it a bit.
  23. That's basically how it works, according to BoM. Tapping the bands gives extreme levels of allomantic strength, but they still needed metals, so it isn't just storing the Investure you get when burning metals, instead it's storing your allomantic ability.
