  1. Huh, he has disappeared? (guessing you're talking about the kid doing the advertising?)
  2. Could work, since Turtle hasn't really been online, so I haven't been able to move.
  3. Alright. I still have no clue where I am in relation to the rest.
  4. A few points: Expert Melee is apparently noted down as 75 points in the index, with skilled being 50. Is this just using the wrong word, or is the point count lower because she's limited to swords and knives? After you talked about her having no defensive abilities I thought about it some more, and figured out that she would have a few. I also realized that I hadn't elaborated on the wind manipulation enough, and made a few mistakes noting it down. Basically, the examples given are the limits on the ability, but they aren't the only uses, and the more advanced techniques give basic defensive abilities against range weapons. As for the actual techniques she can use (more uses might be possible, but this should give a good image of what she can do): Create a large area gust of wind (maximum strength wind power 7). This can either be in a single direction or just circling around her randomly. She can use this to put people of balance. Focus the wind on her blade. This basically creates a small whirlwind around her blade, creating a field around it that allows it do deflect bullets and other projectiles coming into contact with it. Circle air around herself. Same result as the previous technique, but as a field that fully surrounds her, instead of just her sword. This ability is much weaker though, functioning more as a steel bubble, and only working on smaller caliber projectiles (pistol and sub-machine ammo, so assault rifles and snipers will just lose some accuracy). Create smaller, focused gusts of wind in order to propel herself forwards, jump higher or break her fall. Launch blades of air. This requires her to swing her weapon in the direction she wants it to go, with the force of the swing correlating to the speed and force of the projectile, while the size of the blade controls the size of the projectile. These will lose power the further they travel, and will lose the ability to harm things once they've reached about 10 meters. Cutting power of the projectiles correlates to that of the blade used to launch it. Notable is that while she can do things that are somewhat complex, she doesn't have a lot of fine control, so she can't use it for moving small things around (though pushing and pulling using larger gusts is possible), or manipulating sound. Sorry for the lack of clarity in the original post.
  5. Not yet, I think. Just post one now and see what Voidus says tomorrow.
  6. Actually submitting the character I made in the Government thread: Given that she's an Epic: @Voidus.
  7. Personal idea: Investure tends to pool at certain locations, which in the Cosmere creates perpendicularities. However, on Jörð the Investure is much more in motion, not staying in one place for long enough to actually start pooling. However, the pooling instead happens over longer distances, forming something like channels of Investure through the world. Where these channels intersect the Investure can stay for longer, and lakes form, which are the ley nodes. Ley lines normally connect into this large network of rivers, and like rivers, can curve around, and aren't straight lines. These ley lines are often influenced by other forms of energy as well, such as large concentrations of living beings, like forests, lakes and islands. Cities can also draw ley lines towards them, but generally don't exist for long enough to have a real effect. While the locations of ley lines is influenced by nature, as well as the layout of the cognitive and spiritual realms, the flows only change at a slow pace, which is why cities generally don't have ley lines going through them, they haven't existed for long enough to have a noticeable effect. The actual strength of a ley line can differ as well. The largest are gigantic flows, and intersections between them carry enough power to create ley nodes with large amounts of dangerous manifestations of Natural magic, even without any cognitive influences (read, stories and belief) as aid, but these are rare, with only one or two per continent. On the other hand, a large number of ley lines are small enough that even most Yin-type Innates aren't capable of sensing them. Most ley lines are in between these two extremes though, and are often branches of the continental ley lines.
  8. That one is really ... problematic. Lets just say we don't know if it works yet, and some of the more recent experiments show it might be something else going on. Also, reactionless drives have a lot of weird implications for a story, so you need to be really careful with them. If you do want reactionless drives, I'd suggest looking into Mach Effect drives, since those at least show better test results, and have an actual explanation for why they'd work.
  9. Lisa considered the question. "I'm a physicist," she said, hesitantly. "Well, I guess I'm one, though I was more of a student. I did study theoretical physics though, so I guess that counts for something?" She swallowed, hoping she didn't make the woman mad.
  10. Thoug keep in mind that this will be more pve orientated, unlike the main alleyverse.
  11. Lisa looked at the woman in front of her, and leaned back a bit as she stepped forwards. "Ah," she said, "I'm Lisa, Lisa Waite. Um, nice to meet you?"
  12. Lilia walked through the streets, returning from the census building. She giggled as she thought back to what had happened: Lilia walked up to the desk, the scribe looking up at her. "Spirit?" He asked. "Name, abilities and region of residence please." Lilia tilted her head. "I'm not a spirit," she answered, "though I guess dad might have been one? As for my abilities, I can see spirits, and talk to them, even when others can't." The man gazed at her for a bit. "I see," he said at last. "In that case, I'd like your name and living area, as well as any special abilities you might have." "My name is Lilia Blumenkind," she said. "I don't really live anywhere, I just wander around a bit. As for other abilities..." She paused for a bit. "Well, I'm not sure how special it is, but I'm somewhat decent at fleshcrafting, though I guess you already saw that." The man groaned, wondering why he was getting all the weird ones. "Alright," he said, "Lilia Blumenkind, wanderer, Spirit Descendant, Capable of perceiving spirits and a Fleshcrafter." He handed her the money, hoping that the next person was a bit more normal. Of course, after that came Chadwick's turn... Suddenly, a voice pulled her out of her thoughts, yelling about an inn. She looked at Chadwick. "Want to go there?" she asked. "I mean, we've got to use this money somehow." @Turtle373
  13. Lisa looked at the tower, shuddering as she remembered a number of old horror movies. "Of course," she thought, "those were movies, weren't they? Something like that wouldn't actually happen." Having somewhat reassured herself, she walked through the door, following the doorman's directions to small sitting room, where she saw a number of other people. Hesitating, she tried to quietly walk to one of the chairs in the corner.
  14. Not entirely sure when we'll arrive, we're heading to the Census atm, we can either say that the person telling them about the tavern found them after that and do a small flashback, or just have to go there after the Census when they remember about it. @Turtle373?
  15. KanMien walked towards the leading acolyte. "Start sending in the interrogation equipment," they whispered in his ear. "Also, prepare the rest of the captives for interrogation after the Jackal is finished."
  16. How about biological enhancements through genetic manipulation?
  17. I think most natural magic would come from rumors slowly growing, like that one fortune teller who's correct really often, or that murderer that seems to have a supernatural ability to disappear when people get close.
