  1. So the tapestry is in great condition because...?
  2. Wasn't the first truth something like "I'm afraid"?
  3. From the actual link, Brandon says that:
  4. Have we ever 100% for certain seen someone physically in the SR?
  5. Ugh!! That slow?! ARGH!!!! I may end up reading the prose version after all. I was trying to avoid it to go into the graphic novels "pure".
  6. Kindle on PC was horrible. But comiXology in my iPad Air1 was great. If you buy it from the Amazon store, you should have access to the comiXology version as well (at least with a sync'd account).
  7. You know, we have seen how Shallan's portraits can inspire people to be better, and as pointed out it was in unusually good condition. Could the tapestry have magically altered Adolin such that he was more likely to kill Sadeas? Like more likely to act on anger, or more likely to eliminate a threat given the current state of the world (e.g. petty politicians will hamper relief efforts, make it harder to prepare for the upcoming battles, etc. )? He does seem surprised at what he just did afterwards. It could just be a natural response, but if he was influenced to do it....
  8. Maybe the dowry is for the mansion and surrounding lands. Jasnah never says the second part (about Renarin and her), so other than the "It makes no sense", I don't get what you are trying to say here. If anything, it feels like you are pushing your theory too hard. The focus of that conversation is Jasnah setting up Shallan up with Adolin. Why would she bother mentioning Renarin?? She's not pairing Shallan with him. You are taking that conversation out of context because the focus is on the matchmaking, not successions. It's basically Jasnah explaining to Shallan how she's helping with Shallan's family situation (Adolin is third in line for the throne) and what Adolin's situation is, and that Shallan's future potential brings more to the table from her side than she realizes. Jasnah has zero reason to go into the details of how successions work beyond Adolin. In fact, if there are bizarre special cases that came up that do not apply to the current situation, Jasnah would not mention those either, because she's just stating the current situation to Shallan.
  9. Probably a long shot, but one of the most interesting theories I have read of late. It's really great to see someone come in with such a different perspective.
  10. FWIW, I took "spiritual sustenance" to mean improving morale.
  11. From what we know, it sounds like her mother thought she could be on the path to become a KR or had ties to the voidbringers. Basically, a religious thing. We have no reason to believe Shallan caused many deaths at such a young age. If something like that did happen, it sounds more like an accident. Also, I see no reason why the fifth truth could not be based on something new. I think what is most relevant is how strongly she is lying to herself. So a tie-in to Heleran is a good possibility.
  12. The Everstorm is going to hit cities from the wrong direction, wreaking massive damage, all within a week or so. I really hope the pettiness starts moving to the sidelines. Stupid self-centered politicians is an overused trope, especially considering our (USA) current presidential race. I think the big gap in knowledge is what happens to her now that Sadeas is dead. Does she end up like Navani? Or have more options? I think that could significantly alter what she does. Obviously if she is likely to end up like Navani then she has nothing to lose. On the other hand, if she has options to remain a major political player then it's hard topredict what she does without knowing the specifics of said options. I guess we will just have to wait for SA3. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Hmm, so what if no one can interact directly with the SR? Do we have WoB that specifically rule that out?
  14. Going back to my point, things have changed. The others do have their own spy networks (presumably even Dalinar has some semblance of one). Before they might let her get away with that, but with the end of the world upon them, loyalties may have shifted. I know I would be seriously thinking about siding with the KRs, and turning her in for trying to frame things on Adolin would obviously go a long way to gaining some influence with Dalinar. So whereas before others may have kept quiet about what bits and pieces they knew, they may decide differently this time. It's easy to think they will all still be ridiculously petty, but there has been a substantial shift in power at this point (plus that whole end of the world thing, and much worse to come within a few days).
  15. Re-read e.g. the scense with the slavers and the deserters, and the big battle to save the caravan. She even uses it on herself with the deserters and when arriving at the shattered plains. Sebarial even comments on how she looked older and more regal (paraphrasing) when in "court" vs. riding back to her place.
  16. I've re-read her post a couple times and I have no idea what WoB you are looking for -- everything she wrote is from the books, either explicit or heavily implied.
  17. If Lirin is a herald, maybe he figured out a way (helping others) to manage/treat the insanity. Or maybe he's just scholarly (and a way for Brandon to pass info to the readers). I assume we will find out more about his parents in SA3. If Lirin is a herald, seeing Kaladin as a KR should provoke a strong reaction. Though the destruction of the world can wake people up to what is important. Though probably too late for Khalinar.
  18. Loved them all, especially "A Gift for Shallan"!!!
  19. Maybe they consider her an honorary member. Given how dangerous the Cosmere can be, they may work together from time to time as well. The 17th Shard seems like the safestst and likely best organization for someone like Khriss to associate with given everything we know so far (note: I have not read White Sands). So, maybe the 17th Shard sees her as their independent research division.
  20. I wonder if we are over rating the importance of the network of spies. It's like we talk about it as if none of the other high princes have their own as well, when they obviously have to to stay in power. Maybe hers is the best (not counting secret societies), but I'm not sure that warrants much attention. It could have been mentioned to help build up that Sadeas is a serious threat. As a side note, we have no indication they figured out what Sebarial was up to any sooner (or at least, not much sooner) then the others. Though maybe no one was paying much attention. Well, I guess those days are over. On a Tangent: I hope we see more Sebarial -- fun character. The worthless fop that turns out to beat the others on the economics front and has a clear enough head to take care of Roion's soldiers. And how many still believe there are family ties with Shallan? Sebarial with the KR niece.... Well, I guess she was worth the cost after all. Anyway, I think we may be over rating her spy network (or forgetting about/underestimating the rest).
  21. Maybe it creates a Connection?
  22. A KR order based on Truths, cannot imagine how that could work against Adolin..... Edit: She might have a problem knowing (or even suspecting) her fiance is murderer (even if she does think it was necessary, there's still a difference between someone close you doing it vs. an acquaintance or stranger).
  23. I think "Hoid" would be more accurate -- pretty sure he was not playing the role of Wit in that scene / with those people.
  24. You know, what may be really smart for Adolin is to find a mission to go on sooner than later. You're not going to give away any tells if you're not there. Shallan and Pattern could be a problem for him as well. Interesting idea about Ialia seeking out the Skybreakers for justice.
